So I'm starting to wonder how accurate that local California newspaper was about John Walsh filming "John Walsh Investigates" in California. Both newspaper links have expired although if you go way back on the Appeal-Democrat's Facebook page you can still see their Facebook posts claiming his crew was coming: I know JWI was supposed to be a 48-Hours type-show, but I do wonder if perhaps they can change the original concept to make it more AMW-esque, that's if the show ever happens. Basically, as I said before, the only argument I'd have against people claiming Lifetime cancelled AMW because they couldn't afford it and they were happy with it, is that if that's so, then why wouldn't they just create a new fugitive show without the AMW name brand? (JWI was planned way before AMW was ever in danger of getting cancelled) John Walsh in that YouTube link after all did say "We're done and we're talking about doing something else." (Although license fees or not, it still depressed me not ONE network seemed to want to take a chance on AMW itself. I understand it's an expensive show to produce, but to not even want to take a risk and just see what developed deeply saddened me). I know I sound like a broken record on here, but a show featuring a few fugitives and some other cases needs to be on tv again. And I wish John Walsh, Connected To The Case, or anyone else trying to do so luck. Let's replace the Kardashians and the John and Kate have too many kids or whatever the heck junk reality that's on tv that isn't saving lives. You couldn't get more reality than AMW.

And in even more disappointing news, just in time for the new year, someone from this forum's Facebook group private messaged me and told they called the hotline yesterday and got a disconnected message. We all knew there might not be many people if any on staff anymore, but my hope was for the hotline to still be functional. Hopefully it was just disconnected for the holidays, but who knows.
As I reported earlier, John Walsh did say they were "done and now talking about doing something else" in a speech in Arizona and I surmise will probably look to do an AMW-esque show called something else, but I wish the hotline and website could still be maintained. When it was cancelled by Fox in 2011, at least the hotline number was not disconnected.
I wonder what happens now if someone knows where a fugitive from the show is, and tries to call, can't get anyone, and so sends in a web tip. Is anyone there to answer it? Is there a bunch of really great leads piling up dust in an e-mail inbox?

Here is the mailing address for ID: Investigation Discovery One Discovery Place Silver Spring, MD 20910 Flooding the ID offices with physical letters would have more impact than flooding their computer system with emails. Agreed I even mentioned this on my forum's Facebook group that physical letters are better but thought that this was a "couldn't hurt to try idea." Especially for those who seem letter averse. I feel like I'm from the last generation that knows what letters and stamps are and that "cursive writing" doesnt mean writing down the f-word I have wrote both e-mails facebook posts and physical letters to cover all bases. In a belated response to that post, the idea of people (apparently) being so "letter averse" is something that really irks me, since I realize that many people who won't take a few minutes to type a letter have no problem taking a few minutes to type an email. Those mentalities are mutually exclusive. There is little difference between the two methods of communication, other than the general fact that emails are sent more quickly than physical letters (which you print, put in a stamped addressed envelope, and mail).

I couldn't agree more. A letter writing campaign is what saved AMW back in 1996. I wish people realized that. E-mail blasting the President of Fox might just piss him off. Physical letters carry more weight, physically and literally.

Physical letters carry more weight, physically and literally. So do I. Admittedly, I don't know exactly what people say when they email network executives, but if by some chance they are badmouthing anyone, it would do more harm than good. Physical letters carry weight in more ways than one. They are physical and legitimate proof that the author took the time to print the letter, whereas emails can often be seen as laziness on the sender's part. It's true: A letter-writing campaign resulted in the return of AMW in 1996. In fact, if we hadn't fought for the show so vigorously, it would most likely have remained canceled.

Stickied to the top of this page are network addresses of channels I always hear people saying would be good fits for the show. I also posted your suggestions/guidelines for writing letters under it!

It is a true pity that this show has been cancelled because it has put a lot of criminals behind bars and was going to continue to put other fugitives behind bars. I hope a show of the same caliber will be revived because it is important to put felons behind bars for the crimes they have comitted. Perhaps law enforcement agencies should group together with John Walsh and try to launch something that is of the same quality and caliber of America Most Wanted.I also think that people need to check their police precinct's website, it helps a lot to see who are the felons researched for what crimes and who are the missing persons. Any tips can save a life or even solve a case.

Just wanted to reflect. Tonight will be the one year anniversary of when we found out Lifetime cancelled AMW. Or rather, when we found out Lifetime couldn't pay Fox's exorbitant license fees and cancelled AMW. (I'm no longer as mad at them after what I found out in the past year).
I hope John Walsh's new show on CNN will be a smashing success (and I think it will be) but I'll always remember AMW as a huge part of my childhood and life and it is truly amazing what they accomplished in 25 great years.

So this is really the epitome of irony! Out of curiosity, I called the Crime-TV number AMW used, since it is now extinct just curious as to what happens whether it's an out of service, busy signal noise, etc. It could also hint as to whether the number would be used for The Hunt. (Don't worry, I wouldn't have wasted anyone's time and would have hung up had someone answered and called on a Saturday figuring no one would answer). 1-800-Crime-TV is now.... wait for it... a phone sex line! Excuse my language being the forum administrator, but I sh** everyone not. So the same number that used to catch criminals is now being used for phone sex! I think it's safe to say if The Hunt has a hotline setup to take phone calls, it will be using a different number.

P.S. the woman on the voice introduction actually goes welcome to "America's" and I was like is she actually going to say America's Most Wanted and then it's followed up with "hottest hotline." And if you were a girl looking to talk to a guy, press one number, or if you were a guy looking to talk to a girl it prompted you to press a different number. LOL

Wow, just wow.
Thankfully all they need to do for The Hunt's hotline number is 1-800-THE-HUNT.

I Google'd that and some kind of nature logging company has that number. But I also assume any number can still be brought if they offer enough money or they can go with one of the "other" toll free numbers such as an 877 or 888 number. Really curious to see what the new hotline number will be should there happen to be one.

Hi savagewatch, Thanks for joining! Yeah it still bums me out it got cancelled but the good news is John Walsh has a new show that will also hunt fugitives appropriately called The Hunt tomorrow night at 9 PM on CNN. Hopefully one day AMW can come back as well as much as I'd miss John Walsh hosting it (I'm assuming he wouldn't do both), as two shows chasing bad guys are better than one. And it sucks the website is non-functional which has became one more purpose of this site in trying to add cases that were featured on there from internet archives so they don't go away entirely. But at least we have The Hunt and John Walsh on tv again in about 24 hours.

Yesterday was the 2-year anniversary of AMW's "official" cancellation from Lifetime.
Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up by bumping up this topic. Just thought it was interesting to note. I love The Hunt, but I still miss AMW even 2 years later!
