So I know I've been talking to myself here but does anyone have any hope left? First off, in the real world, tv deals aren't magically signed in one hour as much as we want it to- but at the same time- this has taken longer than even I expected. Yes, their executive producer said they were in discussion with a few networks- but there's no guarantee those networks would pick AMW up. I'm starting to fear AMW wasn't able to find a suitor- and I really hope not. It would be nice to hear about any show that showcased fugitives nonetheless. Edit: Found this on Youtube from a few weeks ago where John Walsh states they are trying to make a deal with CNN to continue America's Most Wanted- but this was from October 1st: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPsLOOx-Gdc

I'm really not that optimistic right now. Wish I could have more faith in a return of AMW of another fugitive-centric show.

Even that Connected To The Case thing would be nice. I do wish Walsh would think beyond CNN though. It seems he's tight with them when imo there might be better fits for AMW. Still, I'd just be glad the show is back no matter what channel its' on.

This looks like what might be officially the end of AMW. I just read Roger Chiang (the exec-in-charge)'s latest Facebook status update where he writes "today marks the end of an era." And says how proud he is of his team, etc.
This to me sounds like AMW tried, but was unable to successfully shop the show to a new network.
This really sucks. The first time AMW was cancelled I was too young to understand its impact and only watched now and then. I thought "gee too bad they're cancelling it. It was a good show" but wasn't a loyal viewer yet. The second time I was very disappointed and a loyal viewer but the show imo was getting so bad on Fox that it softened the blow. It was the third cancellation that really upset me. It seemed the show was finally back and safe on Lifetime. And then the cancellation. But it did seem like they'd try again but now this. I feel devastated.
But cheers to them for all the great work they did throughout the years.
At the same time, a show of similar nature NEEDS to be on tv, whether it's a new John Walsh show or Connected To The Case or anything.
We can't let these bad guys continue to get away.
Let's hope we can see another fugitive show on tv with anybody leading it with integrity.
But congrats to AMW and their staff if this is really the end. No one can take away what they accomplished.

On the off chance that its just their eic that is leaving that would still suck. I don't know him personally but I believe Pakman is the only poster here besides me that also religiously looks up AMW's producers, directors, correspondents etc. And there was of course a few such as Lance Heflin and Steve Katz but I really thought he did an amazing job in his short tenure. Nothing but luck to John Walsh and his staff and former staff, wherever they go in life.

I also want to say that call me naive but I do believe AMW will be back one day. Whether it's with John Walsh or someone else or a new crew and production I take it some network will eventually be interested in reviving the show (it seemed CMT was initially interested, but my suspicion is the show might have cost a bit too much for them). I know I repeat this a lot, but SpikeTV did revive Unsolved Mysteries SIX YEARS after it was cancelled as a regular series by Lifetime. (Yes, it was just essentially repeats with Dennis Farina's voice dubbed over instead of Robert Stack but it was still new-ish). Whether it comes back in 2014 or 2015 or whatever it will be back. But unfortunately, I think we just have to assume goodbye for now, and anything else would come as a pleasant surprise.

Maybe this is just me reaching for the last gasp of 0.00001 percent chance desperation here but here is an interview John Walsh did with a local Arizona station over the weekend (post-Halloween) on child internet safety where he is still introduced as the host of America's Most Wanted (well they said "best known as the host" but close enough). And he also references the Shirlee Sherman-Thomas Hunter case. He doesn't say it but I can tell it's the case he's talking about. (Although he apparently didn't know the case was solved and that it turned out the killer had NOTHING to do with the internet but was someone with a grudge against the father. I love John Walsh and he's still my hero but he sometimes seems to get ahead of himself (unlike other internet hatemongers I can criticize or disagree with someone's comment but still respect them). I know, I'm still desperate, LOL. . I'm just going to assume the show is cancelled for good and not coming back in the near future for my sanity, but I did find it interesting he's still being introduced as host of AMW and still talking about cases on the show albeit on a local news station. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXhCxgjj4cY

I wrote to Discovery communications to suggest the ID channel for AMW and received this response: To Me Today at 10:48 AM Dear Viewer: Thank you for contacting Investigation Discovery. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us with your idea. Suggestions from viewers are very important to us as our viewers can tell us what we can improve upon and what our audience enjoys. Viewer ideas, such as yours, help us create and improve programming. While we share viewer suggestions with our management and staff, unfortunately, due to the high volume of suggestions, we are not able to respond and follow up directly with you about the outcome of the review. Thank you again for expressing your interest in our programming. Sincerely, Viewer Relations Investigation Discovery Not bothered at all that they don't follow up as I honestly wasn't expecting that and just wanted to suggest AMW. Just letting you guys know that if you go to their web form, they do claim to take viewer suggestions into consideration: corporate.discovery.com/contact/viewer-relations/I selected Network/program suggestions. Eventually I was given a list of tv shows. I selected other and suggested AMW. They do seem to share suggestions so although this might be in the "too little, too late" category if AMW has already closed up shop imo it doesn't hurt to try. Just be nice about it when suggesting it, and let them know many of us think they're the best cable fit!

Here is the mailing address for ID:
Investigation Discovery One Discovery Place Silver Spring, MD 20910
Flooding the ID offices with physical letters would have more impact than flooding their computer system with emails.

Agreed I even mentioned this on my forum's Facebook group that physical letters are better but thought that this was a "couldn't hurt to try idea." Especially for those who seem letter averse. I feel like I'm from the last generation that knows what letters and stamps are and that "cursive writing" doesnt mean writing down the f-word I have wrote both e-mails facebook posts and physical letters to cover all bases.

A YouTube clip of a speech John Walsh gave to parents on Novembr 2nd, 2013. It's 46 minutes long (but worth it if you have the time). About 7 minutes in, he talks about AMW and says "We're done, and we're talking about doing something else." Hopefully this means another fugitive show. As nostalgic as I am towards AMW, things can't last forever. If a spin-off show or new crime show happens, as long as it's also one that shows a bunch of fugitives on a weekly basis, I will be completely happy with that. Especially if John Walsh is involved. (Hopefully that doesn't prevent them from still talking about cases such as Yaser Said's, even if it means having to do a new story re-enactment etc) www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5n6HJ1Qq2Q

What I find funny is I can see a scenario where let's say John Walsh starts a new show called "Walsh's Scumbag Hunt" (That obviously is not going to be the title ) AMW is still owned by Fox. If Walsh's new show experienced anywhere near the same level of success of AMW, and with the crime genre seeming to become popular again with the ID channel and other networks adding crime shows, I can actually see Fox bringing AMW back with a new team and production since the interest would be up again. And I can actually see a scenario where John Walsh has his own show while AMW is on with someone else. And if that Connected To The Case show happens, I can actually see a scenario where three fugitive shows would be on tv. This is just me being creative so once again please don't quote me on this, but imo I can actually see that scenario happening.

Personally, if that means more fugitives get aired on TV and busted by these shows, and we have multiple pools of leftover fugitives to make more year-end lists out of, it's the best thing that could happen, though I would agree it's a bit against the odds.

I shouldn't worry about hypothetical situations, but I do wonder if and hopefully when John Walsh has a new AMW-esque show, if that would make this forum very confusing if AMW was not back as well. We'd probably have an AMW fugitives with a Walsh's Scumbag Hunt section and a question of whether or not to change the forum name to "Walsh's Scumbag Hunt Fans" etc. etc. But yeah, it's fun to think about it, but I'm not getting my hopes up until we see concrete news of a new show.
