Does anyone know what Canadian law enforcement wanted the Chief Financial Officer of Huawei for? Canada arrested her at the request of the United States, the charge against her has to do with Huawei doing deals with Iran despite sanctions on that country.

Ok so this week we finally heard from Mueller- and the thing is what he said initially was what is most important- the report DOES NOT exonerate Trump.
Some people say Mueller seemed a little old and confused. I saw a shameful display of Republican congressmen purposely talking fast, mischaracterizing parts of the report, asking him to refer to parts of the report without giving him time to look at his notes in an attempt to portray him as such. Even for Mueller that is a long report to spit out details off the top of one's head.
I feel like banging my own head against the wall because Mueller is a REPUBLICAN, with a lifelong career in the justice department and FBI, a war hero while Trump bone-spurred his way out of Vietnam, he is like a real-life older version of Captain America and members of his own party showed him total disrespect.
The main thing though was Mueller saying the report did not exonerate Trump, despite new AG William Barr's obfuscation of the report.
The Republicans have been even more shameful than ever lately, both in their treatment of Mueller and refusal to condemn Trump's hateful tweets telling democratic congresswomen who were either born in this country and/or American citizens to go back to where they come from (I usually ignore Trump's hateful tweets since they're simply attempts at distraction- I'm more concerned with his actions than his words- but this was different and shameful even for Republicans).

And now Trump's Director of National Intelligence (I realize the irony of the name considering this administration), Dan Coats, is stepping down. Trump is nominating congressman John Ratcliffe, whose sanctimonious questioning of Mueller last week was calculated and apparently actually a job auditon.
This stinks since I actually liked Coats and I have to begrudgingly admit there were some men who at least stood by principal when Trump's administration first began- or they were at least adults- Rex Tillerson, Henry McMaster, John Kelly etc... Even if I didn't agree with them politically, they seemed to have a moral and professional code that they followed. Even Jeff Sessions who we weren't fond of had the morality unlike William Barr to just step back and not interfere or obfuscate.
There are less and less adults in the room now to control our President's worst impulses. Somehow Mike Pence is actually the most mature adult left. This is very scary.
We need the pee pee tapes or something because I don't even see how we get to next year now if this continues...

Not sure where to put this but we all know about the death of Jeffrey Epstein by now.
His apparent suicide is no loss and society is a better place without him, however it is unfortunate his victims will never be able to face him in court and will never have the satisfaction of seeing him sent away from society for life.
And I guess this does belong in the politics thread since Donald Trump disgustingly retweeted a conspiracy theory that the Clintons were behind this. Despite the fact Trump has even more incentive (and I stress I'm not accusing him) to off Epstein considering he is the current President, was also friends with him, was named in a 2016 civil suit with Epstein where a woman claimed he raped her when she was thirteen etc... There are also some sort of internet rumors Epstein recruited girls at Mar-A-Lago. And hey normally I wouldn't bring up internet rumors but if crazies are allowed to claim Hillary ran a pedophile ring out of a pizza shop, I feel it's fair game to bring up rumors of Mar-A-Lago as a possible sex trafficking recruiting ground.
A few things:
1. Trump is projector-in-chief, he knows some people will accuse him of a conspiracy in regards to Epstein so instead he projects onto the Clintons. This reminds me of the first Presidential debate of 2016 where he performed poorly against Hillary and for some reason was sniffing a lot, leading to internet comments that perhaps he was on something. The very next day, he said he thought HILLARY was on something during the debate. This is just one example but if you read his tweets he's often accusing people of the very things he's been accused of.
2. I stress even I don't think Trump is a child molestor and I'm not accusing him of any wrongdoing in the Epstein scandal other than it shows his history of being a poor judge of character and/or associating with slimy people. But then again, Trump's surprised me before with his corruption and his incompetence.
At the end of the day, Epstein knew a lot of powerful people and document dumps accuse a former Democratic Govenor of New Mexico (Bill Richardson), and former Democratic Senator Ben Cardin, what state he's from I'm blanking out at the moment.
However, Epstein was taken off suicide watch according to some rumors despite possibly attempting to kill himself weeks ago. And this is the same prison responsible for making sure El Chapo doesn't escape. And this Metropolitan Correctional Center is run by the DOJ. The head of the DOJ is Attorney General William Barr, who is supposedly appalled and will start an investigation. (The same guy who intentionally misled the public about the Mueller report, so this has an O.J. searching for the real killer vibe to it).
I don't think Epstein was murdered and he did commit suicide. But the facility is still responsible for letting this happen, and the main question in my mind is whether they were just standardly negligent or willingly "accidentally-on purpose" negligent.
Epstein likely had dirt on a lot of people, and whoever they were, whether they be Democrats, Republicans, celebrities etc... need to go down as well if they had anything to do with his sick and disgusting crimes. I hope despite his death there is still evidence and a trail to nail any sons of b**ches left.

This my option. It's clear Epstein had the dirt on a lot of powerful people so it's not totally out of the realm of possibility a hit was carried out on him. The bigger likelihood though is the fact he saw that his money and connections that got him walks time and time again was over with. There was nothing but prison cells looming in his future and for someone like him, that is a fate worse then death. Him taking his own life is not a shocker at all,nor is the fact the people in charge of stopping it from happening botched it. It happens all the time, just the inmates aren't so high profile so no one gives a darn.

No I agree as well. Some people think he could have talked but I don't think any prosecutor would have given him a plea deal after he got off pretty much scot-free the last time in a 2007 plea deal involving alleged sex abuse. He knew he was going to jail for the rest of his life- and we all know how inmates treat child molesters (he'd have to be isolated for his own safety). Epstein had absolutely no incentive to talk and wouldn't have given anyone up anyway even if alive.
The only conspiracy theory I can somewhat buy is the jail being purposely "accidentally on purpose" negligent, but I don't think anyone actually axed him even though the internet (and our "President") loves conspiracies.

My take on the theories is this. If the Clintons really had a squad of killers at their beck and call to get rid of people who stood in their way of Hillary being President,Ken Starr,Monica Lewinsky,Juanita Broaddrick and others would have been gone long ago.

I mentioned this in the thread about the El Paso shooting but I take back what I said about being more concerned by Trump's actions rather than words as he is really ramping up the rhetoric in preparation for 2020- riling up his base.
As someone who considers himself Jewish, although non-practicing, I am apparently disloyal to Israel if I vote for Democrats instead of a party currently represented by a guy that condones white supremacists that hate Jewish people. The white supremacists that are apparently represented by "good people" on both sides. Not to mention, Israel's government I hate to say are currently run by similar to Trump extremists like Netanyahu.
Also, believe it or not, I was a relatively middle-of-the-road guy before Trump's election year. I voted for both Democrats and Republicans and tried to stay as politically neutral as possible at least when it came to this forum. It was in my opinion the best policy running this forum since I was the admin, although I always gave other posters the freedom to express themselves one way or the other. Unfortunately, the election of Trump and the infiltration of tea party nutjobs that also support him or traditional Republicans that retire or condone rather than stand up to him forced me to become political on here as well. Trump has done everlasting damage to his party, and it will take a long time for me to ever vote for a Republican again, if at all.
As I said in the gun violence thread, Trump needs to go now, as I fear a second civil war in this country the more this purposely inflammatory language continues, it almost feels like we're already in one or like we're already in a silent civil war. (Donald Trump, to quote Marco Rubio's quotes about former President Obama, knows exactly what he's doing, and wants to divide this country and turn us against another.)

My concern for what Netanyahu apologists think has plunged since I figured out what a hideous war crimes cartel his administration was, including the murders of 80% women and children in one massacre. Nowadays, I tell everyone online who brings up questions about loyalty to Israel that there's a big difference between its people and the Netanyahu regime. The Israeli people's reputation is at stake, and Netahyahu should be in a planetary prison's war criminals' row.

We might have the biggest sh**show yet with the news about Trump and Ukraine. For those who don't know, he apparently pressured the President of Ukraine to do a criminal investigation into the son of Joe Biden, who is at the moment the presumed Democratic frontrunner for the 2020 Presidential nomination. In other words, interference in an election, the same exact scandal that has consumed his Presidency (among other scandals) for three years. Even crazier is former Mayor of NYC Rudy Giuliani, who has completely lost it after once being considered "America's Mayor", essentially admitted on CNN to encouraging Trump to do this. Yet somehow Giuliani isn't arrested. (There's a trend with Trump in which he throws everyone under the bus eventually, everyone associated with him either winds up going to jail or having to leave their job etc.. for his actions while he always gets away Scot-free because he's the President, so wouldn't be surprised if Giuliani goes to jail for him).
The while irony with the Russia collusion/conspiracy thing is while Trump essentially got away with it (so far) thanks to a in my opinion corrupt Attorney General, stupid tradition that you can't criminally charge a sitting President and a do-nothing Republican congress, more worried about their job security and upsetting Trump's racist base than doing the right thing, had he actually been criminally charged he could have claimed ignorance and said well Russia offered to help and we didn't know it was against the rules. I wouldn't have bought it and most people with common sense wouldn't have, but it would be a plausible defense. This is now Trump active soliciting interference in the 2020 election after literally just getting trouble for the same damn thing Putin et al allegedly did to him! This is the literal definition of fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
And now with Lewandowski purposely being difficult in Congressional testimony and all the effort Trump is making to hide his tax returns, the corruption continues and it's ridiculous in 2019 he is continuing to get away with this. Basically he can do whatever he wants and won't get punished for it because he's the President is the new tradition up to this point.
Also with all this crap and the election coming up and a new Trump controversy every day, not that they haven't been, but things may get even nastier in the next year. So I want to warn us even though we should know already, this next year may be the nastiest year yet, even more so than 2016. But we can not be afraid to speak up and speak our mind, no matter what. There's still a bunch of racist MAGA sh**heads that will give you crap for it but I always like to throw back this quote from Winston Churchill:
"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."
I'm not saying to go out and openly call MAGA-people out on the internet. I've said in the mass shooting threads that it's usually a waste of time. It used to be with traditional Republicans and Democrats, you could have an intelligent debate without insulting each other and while still disagreeing with each other, respect each other or even wind up agreeing on some issues. But these MAGA-bots are a different breed, it's mentally exhausting and like trying to argue with children. However, what I am saying is never be afraid to speak your mind and stand up to hate and intolerance, a lot of which is largely helped by our current corrupt administration.

Some comments I managed to think up on the fly:
*I never understood why there's even a tradition placing sitting presidents above indictment. Apparently everyone who wrote that clause missed the danger of putting certain people above the law, even if temporarily.
*If enough dirt is dug up on Biden, perhaps the Sandercrats can use this opportunity to take both the corporate/neoliberal/3rd_way Wassermancrats and the Republicans out, and shift the focus on helping the working class make their living and perhaps even bringing dirty energy and chemical manufacturing fatcats to trial after those corporations knowingly lied to the public for decades!
*As an LGBT, some people have eaten up propaganda by nutpickers (a logical fallacy, not to be confused with nitpicking) saying I'd fly into a rage and exact brutal vengeance on someone just for "disagreeing with my lifestyle" (whatever that means), and while well-restrained attitudes like the 00-Agents' Decade's Log Cabin party and mild-mannered conservative moderates who still had some decorum ("McCainists") have been crushed by Tea Party ethno-nationalists and Tronald Dump's personality cult, it used to be I mostly had violent and uncivil arguments with sectarian extremists like the followers of the Family Research Council and American Family Association. Now everyone to the right of John Sidney McCain III's ghost is aggressive, borderline bloodthirsty, and acting like they're mixing whiskey with angel dust and crank.
*If I ever catch someone on social media threatening that a hail of bullets is coming another poster's way just because the victim wants to get America's domestic policy caught up with the rest of the 1st world and doesn't want to submit to social standards that are based on rape culture, I need to remember to flag that killing threat as inappropriate. Sometimes, it makes me wish I could look at their home city and state and tell the police department therein to keep an eye on people who make those kinds of threats.

As far as the Biden thing goes, while I personally would prefer Sanders or Warren, I feel we need to support the 2020 DNC nominee no matter who it is. It's a shame Trump has completely lowered my standards, it used to be voting for the lesser of two evils but I'd consider the Republican in some unique circumstances, but now it is LITERALLY anyone but Trump. I'd vote for an inanimate carbon rod (Simpsons reference!) if it was the DNC nominee. At least the rod can't do any damage!
I think the reason people didn't or perhaps still don't take the threat of Trump seriously is politicians in general have been corrupt. So when you say Trump is corrupt they go "aren't all politicians crooks? What's the difference?" However, Trump's rumored or alleged criminal actions surfacing in the media and elsewhere go well beyond the pale of your standard corruption, with racism to boot. This isn't your standard political hack going ok well I'll accept money from an unethical lobbyist for my re-election (not excusing that and just an example), this is like Thanos-level alleged evilness.
So Biden might be part of the "standard political hack" system (to be honest my main concern with Biden are his mental facilities but then again look at who is President) but he's still better than Trump. We have a long ways to go and perhaps someone else will be a surprise and get the nomination, but if it is Biden, I will support him. I literally have no choice.

After finding out what the Committee under Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Donna Brazile did to hand over the nomination to an unlikable corporate centrist who was doomed to lose against a pseudo-populist, I refuse to simply roll over and concede the primaries to the Committee. The Committee hasn't beaten the working class yet! In fact, the whole purpose of a primary is precisely so voters can select a candidate for the nomination, and people who know the stakes don't plan to back down and let scoundrels like Wasserman-Scultz push us around.
