I have a comment about social conservatism. As an LGBT, I often find myself angry at most, but not all, people who call themselves social conservatives, but that has more to do with fundamentalists, televangelists, certain far-right sects, and their supporters who describe a straight supremacist characterization as God and pressure others, including the LGBT-affirmative Religious Left and LGBT-integrated churches, to accept a homophobic portrayal of God as fact. But knowing some of you, I'm starting to imagine there might be different reasons why someone might be a social conservative. I rarely get a chance to say anything like this calmly and respectfully, because too many social conservatives across the internet try to make me feel guilty, shameful, unduly indebted, or morally inferior because of my orientation, but if you're any indication, social conservatives might be far from universal about that after all. I'm glad we've gotten along in spite of all that so far.

I don't like to double post, but after 2.1 months since that last post, I don't feel as bad, plus I remember one of you said something or another about how more of our posts should be here instead. Remember how one of you remarked that, at the turn of '005 to '006, the Adam Walsh Act was the last major piece of bipartisan legislation? It struck me as kind of odd, because the divide between the American parties didn't get anywhere near this bitter until the Tea Party movement in '009 and '010. Is there anything like that to account for the sink in bipartisanship in '007 and '008, between those two shifts?

Oh wow we're bumping this up again. I should mention I had been inactive in this thread only because I'm more focused on In Pursuit while it's still in season (plus I feel like Trump is sinking on his own so I'm just sitting back and enjoying the ride, there's not as much need to comment anymore). But yes, I would agree, the tea party, is a large reason for the lack of bipartisanship, although it had already been getting there even before them. Traditional Republicans are more willing to compromise, but extremists have unfortunately taken over a lot of the party.

Just another reminder though 912th though now that you brought it up, if I'm ever inactive on here, it's not because I was scared away but that I'm either busy on focusing on something relating to the actual main sections of our forum (for example, right now I'm focused on In Pursuit, so politics isn't my biggest thing right now) or there's another work issue distracting me. When I "take a break" from discussing politics it's for those reasons or sometimes you just need a breather in general. NO ONE will ever force me to take a break because of them and it is my own personal decision.
Any member here, regardless of their political bent, Republican or Democrat is always more than welcome to comment as long as they're respectful.
Once again since this was brought up again want to once again reiterate no one will ever get me to shut up (If I ever do shut up it's because of me not anyone else, such as being busy for work or a family event etc..), I now have a large unlimited inbox to simply delete messages from any MAGA supporter who still can't spell and think they're getting to me by sending 7 zillion messages a day (especially since I already get 7 zillion messages a day from a random crazies for reasons other than politics anyway such as the lady who still thinks Michelle Comstock is hiding out with the real Green River Killer while she has John Walsh held hostage on a horse ranch lol). To be perfectly honest, rantings from MAGA-ites, if I happen to accidentally read them before deleting them are actually the least annoying messages I get in my inbox lol.
Just focused on our show for the time being, and I'm encouraging us to discuss In Pursuit more as well. (Feel free to discuss politics, just please also discuss the show!).

Just a note guys that we need to disregard the news who are literally talking about nothing regarding the Mueller report. Nobody knows what's in or is not in it. Yet there's endless speculation just to get ratings. ALL of them- Fox, CNN, MSNBC are being ridiculous right now. We don't know if the report is good for Trump. We don't know if it's bad for Trump. We literally don't know anything right now.
What we do know is that a foreign entity conspired to at the very least spread false information in the hopes of influencing the 2016 election for their preferred candidate. Regardless of what the President did or didn't know about that or whether there are collusion indictments. There were still plenty of other indictments and arrests as a result of the Mueller probe even if not directly related to collusion. Remember, Richard Nixon was actually arguably innocent of breaking into the DNC headquarters at Watergate. There was no smoking gun he ordered the break-in. It was the cover-up that was the crime that forced him to resign. Trump could be innocent in regards to Russia but was paranoid about the investigation because of other possible misdeeds being found out about.
Which leads to this... in my opinion, it is really the SDNY (Southern District of New York) as well as congress that Trump really needs to be concerned about as they are the ones conducting multiple investigations and looking into his dealings with Michael Cohen, Deutsche Bank, possible subpoenaing of his tax returns etc... Remember Trump is referred to as individual #1 in the crime that sent his personal lawyer Michael Cohen to jail. Michael Cohen paid off Stormy Daniels at the direction of individual #1 according to those SDNY court documents. (And keep in mind, Trump cannot pardon anyone in his orbit on state charges, only federal charges). If he was not President, he probably would have been arrested as well. Trump didn't even want to be President and his running was just a publicity campaign according to Cohen, and he knows his Presidency is a dumpster fire and may be forced to run again (if he can) just to avoid going to jail. If it weren't for the numerous investigations into him, he could just claim he accomplished everything and "won" and ride off into his version of the sunset.
I'll gladly accept the Mueller report if he does find things, but in my opinion, Mueller may actually be the least of Trump's concerns. I just hope we get the full report and we all respect Mueller's findings regardless of what they are. (I already see some liberals turning on Mueller in fear the report may be a disappointment. You can't root for Mueller and talk about how great he is this entire time and then turn on him just because things didn't go your way one time). If we don't get the full report from new AG William Barr, however, it will open the door to speculation and we the public should demand answers.
In any case, this is the end of the beginning, not the beginning of the end.

Ok, we did not get the full Mueller report. We got a 4 page summary from Trump's hand-picked Attorney General. Collusion is done, no evidence. (Which once again, I stated I actually feel Trump may have actually been innocent of collusion, he did not want to investigation continuing because of it potentially leading to things like his tax returns or other potential crimes being found out about). However, since MAGAites can't read (and I already know I'll be getting multiple e-mails from the person who I no longer refer to on here by name and thinks I still give a sh** about his opinion), the key words here on the obstruction question is that "While this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him." DOES NOT exonerate him. That is not exoneration, it just means insufficient evidence.
Also, it took Mueller two years to complete his collusion investigation. It apparently took William Barr, who was appointed AG only a few months ago, only two days to decline to prosecute obstruction.
Barr must still be subpoenaed to testify. The full Mueller report must be released. And while I have full faith in the integrity of Robert Mueller, I hope he can testify as well to make his statement on whether or not Barr mischaracterized his report.
Admittedly, both sides with construe the report to fit their narrative, but MAGATs need to be careful about celebrating their "win" (which once again is another problem- they conflate everything to sports- win or lose, elections, supreme court decisions are not sports- they affect our country and our lives.) There's still the SDNY and multiple investigations spawned off from the Mueller report.
Trump's investigations shouldn't be anyone's only concerns and we should also focus on the 2020 election, but to quote Sylvester Stallone, "nothing is over!".

Wow at the Mueller report, even with the redactions. Just as I predicted, AG Barr, who has somehow managed to have even less integrity than Jeff Sessions was clearly cherry picking and intentionally misleading/misinterpreting what was in the report
It's become abundantly clear from the report that Trump repeatedly attempted to obstruct justice, but his subordinates either ignored or flat out refused to comply with his demands, including his former counsel who refused to have Mueller fired because it could trigger another Saturday night massacre.
Mueller also clearly indicates Congress can decide on obstruction and did not leave it up to AG Barr.
I'm sick and tired of hearing oh we can't impeach Trump, it's seen as too political too divisive etc... it's also the right thing to do. Yes, Bill Clinton actually became more popular after impeachment. But his "crime" was lying about his sexual behavior to an investigator where it should have been none of his business to ask in the first place.
I'm actually also not thrilled at the prospect of impeaching Trump. Pence is arguably worse politically because of his fundamentalist right-wing ideology. But, as I mentioned before, Pence is a somewhat rational human being who won't drop a bomb on a country because someone made fun of his hair on Twitter. The fact of the matter is we are a country of laws, and we cannot allow someone to continue to make a mockery of the law and get away with it. Impeachment proceedings must begin, regardless of how some may feel or the chances in both chambers of Congress. (Congres is majority Democrat so it would be up to the majority Republican Senate if they want to be known as declining to follow the rule of the law or not).
P.S. Two biggest LOL's from the report:
-Trump saying "That's the end of my Presidency. I'm f***ed.!" When hearing Mueller was appointed special counsel Which is of course something someone who is innocent says.
-Mueller declining to prosecute Don Jr. over the Trump Tower Moscow meeting essentially because he might not have intentionally violated or knew he was violating laws. In other words, Trump Jr. was deemed too stupid to have colluded. LOL!
Going to microwave some popcorn and see what comes in the next few weeks!

If Mike Pence dares to do anything to hurt LGBT youth across the country, teens across social media will be onto him quickly. Seven Mountain Dominionists will come out in full force, but 7MDs among other far-right sects are already infamous for their partisan tribalism and moral bankruptcy, fundamentalists will provoke yet more backlash in an increasingly LGBT-integrative world, and the Republicans, particularly the sectarian cis-het supremacist wing, won't gather much popularity going into the '020 election.

Absolutely disgusted at Alabama's passing of an anti-abortion bill, voted, on by 25 white males, no exceptions EVEN in cases of rape or incest!
Here's the thing it's not about being pro or anti-abortion. It's about being pro-choice or pro-life. No one likes abortion, even those are pro-choice- but there are times when a woman has no choice- she was raped, she's a teenage girl impregnated by her molester/rapist father, there's a risk she may die because of a condition etc....
The irony is Republicans always like to quote Ronald Reagan, "government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem." They want limited government and to basically stay out of people's lives- except apparently when it comes to telling women what to do with their bodies. Republicans of all people should be pro-choice based on their own principles.
This is now a slippery slope to potentially rolling the clock back and reversing Roe v. Wade.
And here's the thing- even if you are pro-life, fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But the problem with abortion bans as restrictive as Alabama's is back before Roe v. Wade, women were still having abortions- but going to quack doctors with coat hangers. Banning abortion entirely as a legal option will just make the problem even worse as women in desperate situations are going to have them anyway but this time they will be even more unsafe. The coat hangers will be coming back, quack doctors will be coming back. More women will die as a result. The problems this will create will be a mess. Even single states banning abortion will make women go to other states' and increase the activity at clinics at those states as they have to handle a sudden influx of women who desperately need their situation taken care of right away.
You can still be pro-life as a moral/general opinion but against the logistical nightmare of actually banning abortion entirely.
This is proof after 2016 that elections have consequences and why the appointment of Brett Kavanaugh to the supreme court (and by the way the second seat on the court stolen from Merrick Garland) was so critical. 2020 can't come soon enough yet is also terrifying at the same time. There's never been more at stake. Our basic liberties and freedom are at stake.

If the fundamentalists in charge of these laws start factoring in quack doctors and interstate travel, and they REALLY want those babies born, how could they do that without chaining pregnant women to a hospital bed in a delivery ward until they go into labor?

You know it's bad when even PAT ROBERTSON of all people said it's too extreme. (granted it was more he didn't think it would hold up, but still).

Nothing good is going to come out of the anti-choice laws being passed in AL/GA etc. As already pointed out,the only thing this will do is increase the number of unsafe abortions. Because at the end of the day, women who can't or won't carry a child to term will take matters into their own hands one way or another.

That’s why we need Bernie Sanders to win in 2020.
Guys this has gone too far, it’s like we’re going back to 1928 or something, these abortion bans are taking us back to the dark ages, not to mention on top of that, race relations have deteriorated.
I’m sorry to say this, but the GOP in power right now is too toxic and I’m kinda glad they won in 2016 so we can see just how cruel they really are, as it’ll give them backlash come 2020 for their actions nationwide.
Obviously this abortion ban is too much, it’s too sick. Some Fundamentalists & theocrats just want to push an agenda that takes you back to 1640 or 1190, their arguments in 2019 are not appealing to me or any millennial for that matter.

If nothing else,I shudder to think of the increase in child abuse/deaths that will result from these laws. Look at the case of AMW capture Henrietta Marie Ganote. She was an overwhelmed and angry single mother who ended up killing her infant daughter in a fit of rage because the magical love and bonding that anti-choice folks think will happen never did. Or look at other AMW Captures like Mona Volgares and Kashema Reddish. They wanted a man in their lives so badly they were willing to throw away the lives of their children to get one. Or look at Megan Everett caught by On The Hunt who saw nothing with having her daughter grow up with Neo-Nazis. We've seen enough AMW and On The Hunt captures along with empty ones to show that just because a woman gives birth it doesn't mean she'll be a good mother. I can't imagine how much worse it will get when women are being forced to give birth to kids they can't or won't care for.

Kinda busy with other stuff but if anyone watched last night's democratic debate and/or watches tonight's feel free to comment. I am embarrassed to hear Beto attempted to pander in Spanish and on behalf of all New Yorkers I apologize for Bill DeBlasio who we all hate despite also not liking Trump lol. Also, apparently another woman accused Trump of raping her and his response of "she's not my type" was appalling. He has every right to defend himself and claim an accusation is not true, but to suggest a woman is not attractive enough to be sexually assaulted is so beneath any human dignity but what else is new. Meanwhile, what is also appalling is seeing children living in squalor-like conditions at these detention centers at the border. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was exactly right to compare them to concentration camps. Also the Mueller report basically proved obstruction of justice. It is simply traditional DOJ policy that you can't indict a sitting President. Hundreds of prosecutors in bipartisan letters said he would have been prosecuted for obstruction of justice if not for policy: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/05/07/hundreds-prosecutors-you-bet-wed-have-indicted-trump/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.2fbc272ece5aSo I understand they want to gather information/hold hearings etc.. but I am a bit angry with the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi for not speeding up/starting an impeachment inquiry. Yes, it is more than likely Trump would get impeached in the house but it will be hard to have enough votes in the Senate but once again we are a country of laws and we can't allow the President to constantly break the law. If only the house impeached him, at least they can be proud they did their job. Everyone is afraid of Trump winning re-election. I'm actually afraid that even if he loses he will declare the election rigged and refuse to leave office and we'll have a constitutional crisis on our hand. Quite frankly, he shouldn't be the GOP nominee anyway if his fellow Republicans would ever grow a spine and do the right thing rather than look out for their own self-interests.
