I understand what you're saying 912th, I don't like how they screwed Bernie in 2016 either. By no means should we concede or accept Biden as inevitable if (like me) we prefer Bernie or Warren. What I am saying is if we're "stuck" with Biden in the end after all is said and done we have to support him. We have to be united in order to beat cheetohead.

Now I'm new and I'm registered to vote I'm a Republican I do like trump and Biden but even as a conservative Republican I have to admit he has done some pretty shady stuff where I live. Which is in the south a very Republican area now I'm kind of stuck between a rock and hard place because my father is a Republican but I dont want to make him disappointed

I was kind of disappointed in trump when he failed to deliver on everything he promised but I'm glad Mueller gave us his report and this whistleblower document seems to me like trump has his hands deep within Russia and Ukraine when he got the info on Biden or at least attempted to get it

hi outlawtaco,
Despite this thread, believe it or not I have friends and family members who are Republicans and/or Trump-supporters. Most of them know how I feel and leave me alone about it.
As I said to TheWebDetective, who is also a Republican, my problem is not ALL Trump supporters, but the MAGA-hat wearing crowd of Trump Republicans who are basically like a brainwashed cult. It's one thing to like Trump because you think he's doing a good job with the economy (even though I don't think so and the economy which is at the moment at least still doing well- with some bumps and bruises recently- is mostly inherited from Obama). It's another to think he's completely perfect and deny he says or does things that he's literally caught on camera or audiotape doing- everything is "fake news" even when proven otherwise. Or to ignore and distort basic facts because Trump says otherwise-Robert Mueller was literally said to be a registered Republican when he was sworn in as FBI director- and they insist he's a lifelong Democrat- just because Trump insinuates that lie into existence. And also to ignore the in my opinion blatant race baiting or not even address it and sometimes embrace it. I liked Obama- but I would criticize him if I disagreed with something. Trump's cult are incapable of disagreeing with anything he does- the guy who says he likes to grab women by the... is a messiah-like figure to them- they will never disagree or criticize- maybe if he adopted a child from Puerto Rico but that's it.
As for your dad, if you two have a good relationship, you only have one father and I understand it's a difficult position. He should respect you and love you unconditionally no matter what and vice versa. It's up to you, you can tell him you're conflicted but be respectful about it, try not to argue about it. I wish I had better advice to give than that other than I understand your conflict.

Which is in the south a very Republican area now I'm kind of stuck between a rock and hard place because my father is a Republican but I dont want to make him disappointed I considered casting a 3rd party vote. I knew that Rodham and Kaine would solve nothing, and I later found out Kaine was inferior to Pence in every way but one. But if I had to name 2 things that convinced me not to vote for Tronald Dump in '016, it would've been his greenbashing, pollutionistic energy and ecology record, and numerous business investments that spiraled into a chain of conflicts of interest. The only reason why I voted against Mike Pence was because of his sectarian record, from siding with various orientation change quackery cults in Indiana to his fellow Seven Mountain Dominionists' End Times delusions. All in all, I considered the '016 general election one of the most pointless ever, right up there with '004, with voters being dealt one of their worst hands in American history and the blue primaries in particular turning out to be rigged.

Thank you Nancy Pelosi for FINALLY announcing an impeachment inquiry.
I had been patient with her up until June as I understood she was playing a waiting game- letting congress investigate Trump first etc... but there's got to be a point where enough is enough. With Ukraine (turns out he withheld military aid before the phone call), it was the final straw where she had no choice.
People kept saying don't impeach Trump, it will make him more popular, he loves playing the victim etc... we're a country of laws and this was the right thing to do. Nancy Pelosi had NO CHOICE but to announce a formal inquiry- whether she actually wanted to or not.
The problem of course is the Senate, but not for the reasons one might think. It's a Republican majority which is the reason why people think it will be hard to impeach. The problem is you need a TWO-THIRDS- 67 percent majority- regardless of which party is in control- 67 votes- and it is very rare for either party to have more than like 60 Senators in the Senate- so even the Democrats had a majority- it would be hard to get enough votes. It is not the party but the amount of votes needed that is the reason why no President has been impeached so far.
However, at least the House of Representatives can be proud that they've done their job now- regardless of how this plays out.
On another note, Trump mocked a 16-year old girl on Twitter the other day (a climate change activist from Sweden who spoke at the UN this week). So just a reminder, our President who is supposed to be the leader of the free world mocked a teenage girl for having the nerve to tell us to listen to scientists. Not sure if this equals mocking a disabled reporter or the criticizing the family of a Gold Star military member- but definitely up there in all-time lows.

And now the call is out... call "summary" not a transcript like the news networks inaccurately state- and even with them obviously not giving everything out is damning- it shows Trump pressuring Zelensky to investigate Biden's son and it implicates Giuliani and AG William Barr as well. Even Mitt Romney called it deeply troubling. ' This is now proof of a President asking for a foreign country's help in investigating a potential political opponent. Had Barack Obama tried to ask a foreign country to investigate Mitt Romney's son in 2012, hypocritical Republicans would have called for his impeachment the next day.
This is bad even without all the facts yet. The smoking gun is there. Trump needs to be impeached. At the same time, he should have been impeached about 4,536 times already and we shouldn't have even gotten to this point.

I agree trump has been abusive with his power and if this is true the thing with Ukraine could destroy his approval rating

And now the whisteblower complaint bombshell- not only did the President pressure Ukraine but tried to cover it up- including a separate email server (where do I remember a private email server scandal before? Hmmm). How ANYONE even Republicans can rationalize this is beyond me. It is time to stop putting party over country. Trump needs to go. Now.

I am both amused but actually kind of concerned at the same time Trump is breaking down and becoming even more mentally unhinged than normal. He tweeted using the full word for "bs" insisted he never wanted to build a "moot" and shoot migrants (I am assuming he meant moat), and the final weirdness was his bizarre press conference with the President of Finland. A reporter asked Trump what he wanted the President of Ukraine to do about Biden and his son Hunter, began berating him and telling him to ask the President of Finalnd a question.
A commentator on CNN made a very astute point- for whatever we can say about Trump, he usually ALWAYS answers reporters questions in press conferences. He usually replies with what in my opinion are often lies or mistruths, telling the reporter it's a dumb question but still answering or even accidentally telling the truth. He basically admitted to Lester Holt in an NBC News interview that he fired James Comey to stop the Russia investigation. So it is telling that for perhaps one of the first of not first time in his Presidency he not only flat out-refused to answer but seemed to refuse to acknowledge the question existed. To be honest, I was actually quite impressed at his rare moment of self-control, it was like he was angry because he likes to defend himself with misleading answers but was completely powerless because the way the question was structured would have forced him to admit the truth. However that self-control later turned back into nuttiness.
But that rare moment aside, he's lashing out, tweeting more than usual etc... I am partially amused until I remember he still has access to the nuclear codes. We can't speed up this investigation fast enough.

On FOX News, Corey Lewandowski was dumb enough to portray Latin Americans crossing the border as a bunch of Fidel Urbina and Pedro Padilla-Flores clones, and accuse anti-Goldman-Sachs candidates of letting them across the border expressly to kill Americans. Lewandowski is so delusionally arrogant that he forgot that such thinly-veiled lies won't land with most Americans.

And another note that Trump basically admitted to asking Zelensky to investigate Biden today while openly encouraging him and Xi (the President of China) to investigate Biden. This was part of Trump's strategy in the past, publicly admit to crimes to desensitize us (oh he said it publicly maybe it's not a crime after all), but in my opinion, there shouldn't even be a need for an impeachment inquiry after those comments. He basically just publicly encouraged Ukraine and China to investigate a political opponent. I mean this is absolute insanity. I didn't encourage the investigation of my political opponent, by the way.. investigate my political opponent! Oy vey...

Also another thing bothering me is people saying Democrats wanting to re-litigiate the 2016 election and/or get rid of Trump because they can't beat him in 2020.
Here is the thing- I've never been the biggest Nancy Pelosi fan, but up until now all indications were she DID NOT want to have Trump under an impeachment inquiry. She knows he loves playing the victim card and claiming the system and everyone is out to get him. Impeachment riled Bill Clinton's base and Democrats won the 1998 midterms in support of him. Van Jones on CNN had a good point that Democrats were in a lose-lose situation with the Ukraine scandal- ignore the President's illegal and/or immoral actions and upset their base to where they don't want to vote in 2020 or satisfy their base by doing the impeachment inquiry but risk riling up Trump's cult who already believe his lies that the system and "swamp" is out to get him (Jones said it a lot more nicely than me and I'm basically relaying what I believe he was really trying to say).
However, the transcript and whistleblower complaint left Pelosi no choice whatsoever but to start the inquiry.
We are a country of laws and we cannot allow anyone, even the President, to get away with skirting the law.
It is not about relitigating 2016. I begrudgingly hoped Hillary would win, but only because she was a standard hack politician compared to Trump's supervillain evil. I was not happy at all about Bernie getting screwed over by the DNC, but I still understood what was at stake.
I personally would love nothing more than for Trump to simply get trounced in the general election and we get rid of him that way. It's not like I'm that thrilled to see President Pence (if we even see a President Pence as now he seems to be a part of the Ukraine scandal as well).
However, I want Trump removed not because I fear 2020 but because he is committing what I consider criminal acts while in the White House that cannot be condoned and I also fear there may not be a 2020 if he continues to be President.
This is not a political issue. Yes I lean left but I have actually sometimes voted for Republicans in the past. This is not politics. This is a decency issue. And Trump is beyond human decency.
Despite the past few years, I still love this country. I hope Trump's Republican colleagues also still do and put country over party.

Also sorry I know this is a record but Bernie Sanders had a heart procedure but still plans on participating in the next debate
I hope he gets well soon and that is the main thing but it should be interesting if his health forces him to drop out. Biden is for now still the frontrunner, and probably benefiting from sympathy in response to Trump's baseless attacks on him (The reason I don't want Biden as nominee is because I feel he represents the old school political hack system and old ways of thinking and we need fresh and new ideas. I still think he is an honorable man, and my only disagreement is I feel other candidates are better for leading this country forward), However, since Sanders voters way of thinking are more in line with Warren's type of people rather than Biden's, she would likely get Bernie's people and make the race between her and Biden at least a little closer.
