(Above photo credit: FBI.Gov) Fugitive Profile as of August 30th, 2014 (Based on FBI.gov wanted poster): Date(s) of Birth Used: November 5, 1953 Place of Birth: Montevideo, Minnesota Height: 6'3" Weight: 195 pounds Occupation: Computer Technician Hair: Blond Eyes: Blue Sex: Male Race: White Nationality: American Scars and Marks: Brovold has a scar on his hand and a scar on his right forearm. Remarks: Brovold may have traveled to Bital and Tepey, Mexico. He has ties to Granite Falls and Wood Lake, Minnesota; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Martinez, Georgia. He spends a lot of time on computers in chat rooms, reportedly engaging in sexually explicit conversations. TIPS: If you have any information concerning this person, please contact your local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate. You can also submit a tip electronically at tips.fbi.govCurtis Brovold is wanted for sex crimes with a minor. He was aired as a 15 SOS (I believe) fugitive in 2010. Authorities say that in February 2000, Curtis Brovold met a 14-year old girl on an online chat room. The girl sent him naked photos of herself after he told her that he was 29-years old. He sent the girl flowers and chocolate. On July 2000, Brovold flew to Moorhead, Minnesota and met the girl at a local motel where they had sex. Around this time, the girl's mother discovered what was going on and called authorities. The authorities showed up at the hotel room where the 47-year old Brovold was arrested. He was released on bond and failed to appear for his Sept 18, 2000 court hearing. Thoughts? I believe his amw.com profile mentioned that he may have fled the United States but I can't fully remember. The FBI thinks he may have fled to Mexico. www.fbi.gov/wanted/cac/curtis-lee-brovold/viewwww.citypages.com/2010-09-29/news/Minnesota-s-Most-Wanted-Criminals/full/Admin Note: If you have any news-related updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

The thing with these internet predators is they rarely stop. Heck, I watched To Catch A Predator when it was on and MULTIPLE guys returned and got caught again. Brovold is said to be a computer technician so my feeling is he's likely still in the U.S. and perhaps not far from Minnesota having gained employment.

As of July 14th, 2018, Brovold is still listed as a wanted fugitive on the FBI's website. (Same link as in HeadMarshal's OP).

I read somewhere that he was last seen in Mexico City. It was an article 5 years after a warrant was set out for his arrest. You can go on websites like truth finder to find out about their background and where they have lived in the past. It said on there that he had lived in Granite falls and if you want to be more accurate 120 skyline drive or 320 oak street in the city. However by now it is likely he has moved from these 2 places. He is 65 now and hasn't been seen for 18 years so it is close to impossible to recognise what he is going to look like as the last picture taken of him was when he was 46. At his age he could still possibly be a computer technician but if he is indeed in Mexico City it will be very difficult to find him as there are loads of people that live there. He has relatives as well that are all listed on the truthfinder website. If you want more information I suggest you look at truthfinder but in my honest opinion after all these years I don't think he is going to be apprehended.

Hello graniterocks, Welcome to the forum! Thanks so much for your help and input.
I am assuming this is Granite Falls in Minnesota?
I agree finding him will be difficult, although I have seen plenty of seemingly impossible fugitive cold cases solved as well. We just have to hope Brovold is one of them.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow made his way to Europe (England, France etc...) as there's been a few fugitives wanted for child molestation fleeing there lately. Roger Giese was finally sent back from the UK after a long extradition battle. He was also wanted by the FBI. He almost wasn't sent back on the premise that the U.S. can sometimes keep men and women convicted of child sex crimes in some kind of confinement such as a halfway house even after they've served their time. (I think another fugitive not wanted by the FBI but still wanted for child crimes named Sean Sullivan wasn't sent back on those grounds). So I can see a fugitive even if not in Europe initially wanting to go and try to take advantage of legal loopholes deven if they're eventually located.

Do you have any more pictures of him or what he used to do in the past ? Have you recently heard about the man from oregon that had been captured after 25 years on the run ? He was on the FBI most wanted list, Brovold has been on the run for 18 years so it may still be possible. What information do you have on Brovold ?

That fugitive was Paul Jackson I believe you're referring to, although he was wanted by the Marshals.
The information is pretty much what we have here from what I know. Unfortunately I got an error message when I tried to retrieve his amw.com archive.
If I had more info or pictures they would have been on the forum already but I'm always looking online for updates on cases and always do when I have them.
Just out of curiosity, if I can ask a question as well, what it is about Brovold's case that piques your interest more than others? It's obviously a terrible case, but just curious if you're from Minnesota (hence the screen name) and that's why this cold case is of particular interest.

Off topic, but I really hope if they are considering adding crimes against children to the 10 most wanted list, and if so that Mr. Brovold be one of the fugitives considered.
He could be anywhere in the world at this point and 18 years is a long time.

Definitely think he’s the type of predator that would flee to Mexico, so I buy the idea that he could be there. Just a hunch.

It is an interesting case although you may not believe me on this but there are worse people on there than brovold as his charge was criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the third degree which is still bad but if you compare it to someone who was captured this year such as Leon Henry Shaw then he should have been a higher priority. Type up Leon Henry Shaw and look at his charges compared to brovold. Brovold would have been out by now. The guy I was talking about before was Barrett Preston busschau. Brovold in my opinion should not have run because his charges were not all stacked up like Leon Henry Shaw, who in my opinion was the worst, one on there since he was captured this year, although he was found deceased which was better for him as with those charges he would have gotten years.

Busschau was captured in September 2018 as he agreed to return from South Africa to Oregon to face charges. But I figure anyone who has done anything to a child should be focused on extensively. I would like to see some age progressed images of Brovold soon in order to jump start the manhunt as I’ve stated on another thread.

Gotcha. Brovold is admittedly not my most wanted for crimes against children either, but only because we only know of one alleged incident. I guess the fear with him is what he *potentially* could be allegedly doing with children as opposed to cases where we definitely know what allegedly happened multiple times with Bruce Sawhill. At the same time, he of course deserves to be captured and punished (if proven guilty in a court of law) if at all possible.

Did you see Leon Henry Shaws poster ? Its terrifying. I think brovold at the age of 65 would not have his blonde hair anymore so it is likely to be grey. He is 6ft 3 which is tall so he could stand out in a crowd. If he is a computer technician it is likely he could still be doing this to this day as he can easily access victims from across the internet. He apparently has experience with cellular devices aswell. Who do you pass this information onto ? By the way I looked deeper into the Bruce Sawhill case and found that the victim he was responsible for committed suicide. It is really sad as the girl who fell victim to him committed suicide as he did not see justice so he is very bad aswell and definitely deserves to be caught. They should charge sawhill with that girls suicide as he led up to the events that caused it. How can he do such a thing, But back on the basis of Brovold, I last heard that he was In mexico city and if he is still there He would be near impossible to find due to the amount of people that live there and it is very easy to get a false id in mexico and you can bribe the officers very easily so mexico is a very important lead to follow up on. I heard that they had recently caught ranger lacy but he had been on the run for only 3 years but still they caught him. So in a way they are getting better at catching these people as each year they are catching more and more of them. It is only a matter of time until the next one is caught. For example this year they found out about shaw in July and then in a few months they caught busschau and then lacy so they are getting better. The ones that are in their 70s are possibly dead unless provided with good healthcare. What is your opinion on the FBIs methods on catching these guys ? Do you have any programs you could provide me that his information on Brovold ?
