I'm actually impressed you read the terms of service! Lol.
I didn't see you post anything intentionally intentionally false or misleading so no worries.
The spreading rumors thing was mainly mention because when the forum first started we had like a 15-year-old troll I had to ban who was purposely posting false things like "*insert fugitive here* was spotted in Romania" or "The FBI thinks *insert fugitive* here is hiding in Rome according to my sources "
Not that there's anything wrong with teenage posters who legitimately want to discuss cases, but that particular one was not legitimate and hence why I had to mention it in the ToS.

Perhaps the killer temporarily took off his gloves? Even the most meticulous killer is not prone to mistakes. As for reading this stuff, I think it is a lot more likely if Al Kite is not the suspect's only victim, as many serial killers do seem to pay attention to what is said about them and enjoy reading or viewing media after each time (not to say if Al Kite was his only victim he wouldn't still do that). There's so many people who view crime forums such as ours, Websleuths etc... I don't think the government can get much out of tracking everyone who visits pages on a certain case, it would only appeal to them if someone has an oddly specific comment on a thread or stands out for some reason. If the killer was that paranoid, there would still be ways for him to stay anonymous surfing the web by using VPNs and other privacy tools. And also random persons on crime forums have helped solve cases and/or helped in making the public aware of cases to which tips can be called in on cases that eventually leads to solving them. There is nothing wrong in getting emotional in Al Kite's death. In my opinion, it's one of the most senseless murders ever profiled by AMW. There are two ways I can think of that Al Kite’s killer may have left DNA behind: 1) Al may have scratched his killer with his fingers during a struggle, and the killer’s DNA wound up under his fingernails; 2) I have read the killer may have slept in Al’s bed. Perhaps he left some of his hair on the bed.

I don't think there was much of a struggle, actually. I think the killer knocked Al unconscious and then tied him up. I'm not quite sure why Al gave him his PIN number. I would be like "F*** you, you're gonna kill me anyway." Maybe the killer tricked Al into thinking that was all he wanted. Now the fact he slept in Al's bed is a good point. He very well could've left a trace of himself without even knowing it. Everyone talks about this killer being such a genius, but he's kind of an idiot, actually. Why would he stick around Al's house for so long? Even if he had assurance from Al that no one was going to show up all weekend, you still have to expect the unexpected. And why did he drive around in Al's truck, especially with a ski mask?? Had he got pulled over, he would've had some serious explaining to do. Plus, the way he was acting so creepy to that one tenant he visited, shows he has no self awareness. Plus his ski mask revealed too much of his face. This guy isn't as bright as he likes to think.

I just had a light bulb moment. Do you think the detectives looked at all of the hotels/motels in Aurora and Denver and looked at the guest lists? And did they pull surveillance tapes if they thought they found someone who matched the description of Robert Cooper? This guy was most likely from out of town. I know it's far too late to do that now, but I hope they at least tried that at the time.

That's an excellent question. Unfortunately I don't know the answer and it's too late if they didn't. With a lot of these unsolved cases, for good reasons, we often don't know how close or far authorities are to nabbing the suspect. So some of the investigation techniques and what they did are not disclosed to the public. So it is possible they checked the hotels/motels but purposely didn't say anything.

I’m almost certain he stayed in a hotel or motel. He obviously spent some time changing his appearance, because everyone who saw him said he looked different, so you’d think he’d have to be alone while doing that. That would make you think it was a bigger hotel because front desk people at a small hotel/motel might notice he looked different every time he left, which could stand out to them. A hotel/motel is the only thing I can think of. I doubt he was sleeping in a car because that could draw suspicion. So for those reasons I believe he stayed in a hotel/motel. The question is where? It could’ve been outside of Denver/Aurora for all we know. I think it’s telling he slept in Al’s bed that one night. That clearly means he had no where else to stay, further suggesting he isn’t from the area. And maybe his hotel reservation had expired. That would explain him skipping town when he woke up the next day. It’s interesting though because he abandoned Al’s truck in Al’s neighborhood. Did he walk from there? If so where? To a bus? Where would that bus take him? Maybe his car was parked in a parking lot of a big store? Who knows. It gets confusing from there.

I guess it’s possible he stayed with a senile relative who would be clueless of anything going on. But wouldn’t he go back to his relatives house that night? Why did he sleep in Al’s bed? Maybe he’s just a weirdo. Well, that’s already been established I guess.

It definitely seems like he was not from the area. So that does beg the question as to where he was staying.
I agree with you that I also think he stayed at a hotel or motel beforehand. Although I think any kind of hotel or motel could be possible. Even in a seedy motel how often do clerks really pay attention?
His trail does get cold after the truck is abandoned and where we're left to pick up the pieces.

Sorry just saw your second reply as well. That's possible also, but I agree more with your first thought about a hotel or motel.

Yep. We’re just left to pick up the pieces. That’s where it would’ve been really helpful to look at the guest list for every hotel/motel in the city. And it wouldn’t hurt to look at surveillance footage of gas stations or restaurants near by. It would’ve taken an eternity to look through all of that, but that’s what you gotta do sometimes.

*CORRECTION* I just re-listened to both of the podcasts I mentioned a few posts ago, and it turns out I was wrong about DNA being on the ATM receipt. The authorities did not extract the killer's DNA from the ATM receipt in Al's truck. I'm not sure why I thought that was the case lol. Thought I would clear that up.

Thanks for verifying, it does seem they do have some sort of DNA at least regardless of how they obtained it so no worries.

Both of the podcast hosts seemed to have additional information on Al Kite and the case itself. One host somehow knows that the police have over 20 binders filled with information on this case. The host also knew the police performed sound tests to see if they could hear screams for help from outside. Another host had a lot of personal info on Al, like where he went to college and what degree he got, as well as other info. I wonder how they found all of that out.

There's lots of background check websites and stuff like that. They also have a lot of time to track the case with these podcasts since they're usually dedicated to just one case a series or over a series of episodes usually. I'll admit perhaps I don't do have as much research as I should on some cases since this is an overall discussion site with many cases (although Al Kite ranks highly on my list of unsolved cases I want to see solved).

Still not sure how they would know the police have 20 binders worth of info, for example. Maybe they interviewed one of the detectives? I’m surprised they would want to release any info at all.
