This is a great ruling, and I have confidence that Caro-Quintero is going to get caught or be located and shot dead soon, as he spends a lot of his time giving interviews and being seen in public in Sinaloa. The mistake that El Chapo made, was that he spent his time in major cities like Mazatlan, Culiacán, & Los Mochis. Another mistake, and it’s one that was made by Servando Gómez Martínez aka La Tuta, former leader of the Knights Templar Cartel based in Michoacan, kept giving interviews to the press and appeared in public like Caro-Quintero does, La Tuta would end up getting caught in March 2015 in Morelia, Mexico.

I think Congress needs to do their job: sanction the Mexican Government in light of this new evidence. Sanctions would be lifted upon RCQ’s arrest and extradition. This did work in the past (although there was strong discussion of sanctions - I don’t think it actually happened) with Juan Garcia-Abrego in 1995-96.

I agree with the sentiment, although getting congress to do their job has been more of an abnormally difficult task than usual even for them in the past 10 years or so.

At the same time I understand Mexico needs to do its part, but then again, they’re trying their best to take care of the situation when it comes to the drug war.
On the flip side, guys like Caro-Quintero, El Chapo, Servando Gómez Martínez aka “La Tuta”, and Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, are all leading or have led organizations that are basically paramilitary groups, that are very sophisticated, it’s not like they’re a bunch of beginners or small time criminals, heck Nemesio Oseguera used to be a police officer, Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, used to be a police officer, and a lot of these guys have access to military grade equipment, for example Barrio Azteca had grenades and the CJNG have rocket launchers and surface to air missiles.
The Mexican government needs to make improvements, and they’ve elected a great leader a year ago, I just hope I can keep saying that 5 years from now though, and something gets done about this drug war.
The drug war is basically Mexico’s Vietnam at home

Yeah I have been a pretty vocal critic of the war on drugs. It is not condoning drug usage but rather it has been in my opinion a costly failure when we can focus on killers and child molesters that may be hiding next to us on our own streets. With that being said, guys like El Chapo and Caro-Quintero go beyond just an average dope dealer and I put my personal feelings aside as I consider them mass murderers or alleged mass murderers. Caro-Quintero still needs to be caught because there needs to be justice for Enrique Camarena, regardless of what one's feelings on the drug war may be.

According to Grillonautas2, Earlier this year, Caro-Quintero’s nephew Ismael Quintero Arellanes was captured in Mexico in January 2020 and the indictment was unsealed.
After this Caro-Quintero’s people that are protecting him had to change phone numbers, & radio channels in the event that those captured gave away phone numbers and radio channels.
Also according to a source close to Rafael Caro-Quintero, he has stated that he would not go back to prison and would rather shoot himself in the head rather than be taken alive. For awhile this was up for debate, but now it’s likely the Narco of Narcos won’t go without a final bang.

We all thought El Chapo wouldn't be taken alive either and he was. Caro-Quintero shooting himself or being shot upon capture is of course a possibility, but they need to locate him first.

Apparently Caro-Quintero is said to have ordered the murder of 10 people in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico recently and many have speculated that RCQ is “returning” to drug trafficking, in an effort to displace Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s sons out of the state of Sonora. Also as previously alleged that he may be hiding out in the mountains of Sinaloa, now he could be hiding in and around the area of Caborca, Sonora, Mexico, which is where RCQ had a lot of land prior to his arrest in 1985. lasillarota.com/nacion/cartel-de-caborca-el-regreso-de-rafael-caro-quintero-caro-quintero-caborca-sonora-incendios/405405

When he did those interviews recently (which is arguably what pissed the FBI off enough to add him to the top ten list) he acted like he was some quiet old man that just wanted to retire, but as we can see he's still allegedly very active.

Does anyone have any updates on the extent of RCQ’s prostate disease? If it’s cancer, he may be in really bad shape from not having had adequate medical attention.
