Ok now I remember! And yeah it's not the most solid but it is an area to explore.

I came across an interesting article which talks about the arrest of 16 people last week in connection with a cocaine distribution ring in El Paso, Texas dating back three years. One of the arrestees was 43-year old Jerry Urbina. Jerry was the co-owner of Chinos Automotive Shop. He had been arrested while on bond for supplying a convicted felon with six handguns and an AK-47 assault rifle. He also worked with other cocaine distributors in El Paso. With this in mind it may be interesting to see if Jerry and Fidel Urbina are somehow related. It should be noted that among the arrestees was a former police officer named Billy Jack Barrow. www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_23194889/dea-agent-testifies-man-tied-cocaine-distribution?source=most_viewedwww.justice.gov/dea/divisions/elp/2013/elp043013.shtml

It's certainly worth looking into but it does seem like Urbina isn't as uncommon a last name as I thought. Besides Bernardo and Jerry there's also AMW fugitive Melvin Urbina who we've already agreed is probably not related. There also is or was a baseball player named Ugueth Urbina.
Still I agree with you the cirumstances certainly make this worth a look.

So when the one-year anniversary of Eric Toth's addition to the FBI's top 10 list happened, it was mentioned on the FBI's official Facebook page, with no mention of the anniversary of the murder of Robert Fisher's wife and children happening at the same time. This worked out however as Toth was captured. But now it has been the one year-anniversary of Fidel Urbina's addition and no mention. What gives? For a guy who's a potential sexual serial killer, he is somehow an underrated and under-publicized fugitive, imo.

Honestly, I don't feel that Urbina will be caught by a citizen recognizing him, which is probably why no anniversary of his addition was announced. It was never revealed as to who the tipster regarding his 2010 sighting was and if he/she knew Urbina somehow. Remember that the failed capture attempt in 2006 was because of family informants tracing him to his hometown in Durango, Mexico.

Or at least they can release an age-enhanced photo. I don't think with his height and acne-scarred face he'd be unrecognizable if he was hiding somewhere other than deep in Mexico (although sadly deep in Mexico is likely the case).

They must have forgotten about the age-enhanced photo (shouldn't take a year to do one) so at the very least, posting that would be helpful. Without one, 15 years on the run can really change your appearance and so not that many people may recognize him. One thing I have never pointed out is that during the press conference, the FBI official said that AMW along with other news outlets have resulted in sightings of Urbina both in Mexico and the US. So hopefully they got some decent leads from his amw profiles. Aside from the State of Durango, Ciudad Juarez and Chicago, we don't know of any other locations Urbina has ties to. Considering that Jose Luis Saenz traveled to Canada while on the run, Urbina may have ties to more locations than what we know about.

I agree, but even with Saenz, Mexico really was his main stomping grounds, even if he did manage to go to Canada and back then. But yeah, Urbina could possibly be going back and forth somewhere.

The FBI said at some point that they would locate him whether he's in Texas or Arizona or wherever, I wonder if there was any hidden meaning behind that (was he sighted in at least one of those states or does he have family there). Reminds me of the point I made earlier about the possible "La Sevillana" mention during Urbina's AMW reenactment when the woman portraying Diana Vazquez mentioned that was the bar she worked at.

I never even took it as a hidden message and thought they were stating it was possible he could be in those locations- being they are close in proximity to the Mexican border.

The FBI has created a new Facebook page for Fidel Urbina. Although oddly enough, still no age-enhanced photo. Hope this new publicity helps in catching him: www.facebook.com/wantedfidelurbina

I like the idea but I wonder as to how many decent leads the FBI can get from this account. Anyway a quote from FBI special agent Pablo Araya sums up the severity of this case rather nicely. “Wherever he is, my guess is that women are in danger there, because this guy has shown no remorse and isn’t likely to change his ways," said Special Agent Pablo Araya. "That’s why we need to catch him.”

Even though the FBI mentioned not to post tips regarding Urbina on the facebook page, someone mentioned that "he thought he saw him selling cigarettes in Ciudad Juarez". I can only assume the FBI gets tips like that periodically. However it's nice to see that people realize the page exists.
EDIT: Other comments have consisted of, "he must be in Piedras Negras, Coahuila", "he must be related to Che Guevara", "He may be from Mexico, but that hardly means he would stay safe here (I live in Mexico) and actually he'd be more apt to get caught and deported from Mexico than he'd be apt to get caught in the U.S."
This may indicate the types of tips the FBI receives on a regular basis.

Nice to see the page and people trying to help. I remember John Walsh's interviewed by Geraldo Rivera talking about how the operators have to weed out weird tips (sometimes from family members purposely trying to investigators off) such as "he's on Mars."
Moderately off-topic, but seeing the types of tips the FBI gets for Urbina may indicate why it's so hard to catch Jason Brown, who is described as so plain-looking he's hard to catch. Besides the obligatory "he looks like Sean Penn" posts I see 5 zillion "he looks so familiar" and "he looks just like this guy in..." posts.
Still, all the FBI needs for Urbina or any fugitive is that one accurate tip.
