Unfortunately tvfanatic.com says 2.2 million wasn't that good in comparison to other shows on other networks that night and only had an 0.3 rating in 18-49 demographic (the one used for advertisers). I'm not saying this to be negative but to urge us to spread the word since it's actually a good revival and deserves more eyeballs. I don't know why people would rather watch a bunch of people sing to be a one-hit wonder or who some rich person they never met will marry and then divorce after a year than catch a criminal but let's get the numbers up! www.tvfanatic.com/2021/03/tv-ratings-the-bachelor-finale-slips-americas-most-wanted-reviva/

Also I say this as someone who loves John Walsh but if you tell your friend to watch the reboot and he says "no JW I'm not watching" please slap them upside the head for me (but not too hard to where you'd make AMW).

Why I really don't watch TV anymore. Though I do find it odd that they choose to air AMW on a Monday instead of the traditional Saturday night slot. With weekdays, you're bound to compete with the more popular shows.

I think Saturday night became sports night for Fox (Nascar and other stuff) hence why they put AMW on Mondays. And in theory 911: Lone Star was one of their highest rated shows on Mondays at 9 PM so in theory Monday should have been a good slot but Fox gave AMW a bad lead-in (a rerun of 911 rather than a new episode).
I also want to be positive but also not get our hopes up- reboots don't always work- some have been hits (Roseanne/The Connors, Hawaii Five-O, successes) and some haven't (Dallas, X-Files reboot only lasted two seasons)- I actually am noticing a disturbing trend of Fox having the least success with reboots in recent years (24 and Prison Break also failed). So it's unfortunately possible the reboot of AMW won't work out, even if most us like the show here, but hopefully we can do what we can and be cautiously optimistic the numbers can rise. I'd encourage us who know longtime AMW viewers to give the new show a chance.
I was just as skeptical as the next person (Excited but skeptical) but the first episode at least encouraged me and I felt was a good start.

Also they said it was the finale of the Bachelor so as incredulous as I am that AMW has to compete with the Bachelor, hopefully this Monday they will get more viewers since the Bachelor won't be on.

Actually I'm looking and they have The Masked Singer and Game of Talents on Saturdays (*sigh*) but in theory Saturday nights AMW 1.0 often got pre-empted for sports when it was on Fox and Monday sort of solved that issue. Or at least the hope was it would.

I'm actually more pessimistic that in although I wish for AMW to succeed, big media companies, including FOX have a poor track record in this area. Plus, similar to my comments on The Hunt, the environment that AMW once thrived on is not the same or is gone now. But we'll see.

Technically speaking true crime is more popular than ever, so you'd think it would be perfect timing for AMW to come back but it seems mostly people are interested in lengthy series or documentaries about already adjudicated cases from the 80s and 90s or miniseries focusing on one unsolved cold case rather than current true crime unfortunately. (Although In Pursuit has been a hit on ID). I'm cautiously optimistic but I unfortunately also wouldn't be shocked if the reboot doesn't work out. I'll do whatever I can to be supportive while it's still on the air though.

Just checked and American Idol is replacing the Bachelor on ABC on Mondays... Also NCAA tournament basketball on CBS (so much for not competing with sports) *sigh*

Regarding the days, I think AMW 2.0 should move to a Friday night slot, everyone across this country has that vibe on Friday night, whether they don’t plan on going out, they will want to watch something interesting or scary on T.V and a lot of people in my age range are starting to get into true crime documentaries and murder mysteries, but it would be a moot point about changing the day and time slot as a lot of this audience will be on YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime. AMW 2.0 should also live stream its episodes on YouTube as well in my opinion, we can make up for the loss of those that are protesting the show by picking up a completely new and younger audience into the fold with the YouTube live stream idea.

All good ideas!
My only disagreement is I'm not sure people are "protesting" the show as much as they're not giving it a chance, especially the old school viewers who won't watch it without John Walsh. Which is a shame since JW has always stressed the show is needed regardless of whether or not he's the host. Granted we have In Pursuit now but the more AMW or AMW-type shows on the air, the more potential for the cases on them to be solved.
