One problem I had with the Godwin case: they had a great chance to unveil new age-enhanced photos which they didn’t do, and I didn’t feel like they gave adequate explanation as to his likely location (I’m thinking more along the lines of Central America - they really could have discussed good sightings in the case). That is a fair criticism that what I've heard most over the years is Godwin is likely in Guatemala or elsewhere in Central America but they only mentioned Miami. And yeah they could have shown the age-enhanced photos.

And yeah they could have shown the age-enhanced photos. If he is in Guatemala, that would make sense: Michael Alfonso said there were a lot of immigration authorities in Mexico when they interviewed him, so he may be under the radar in one of the Central American countries. Interestingly, when Michael Alfonso was interviewed on “I Almost Got Away With It”, he said that when detained as an illegal in Mexico, he did see people in the prison who he recognized on AMW. Wondering if law enforcement followed up on that. Who knows? Maybe one of those people was Godwin.

Not gonna lie I completely forgot about Nancy Grace doing her own after show segment until I followed the Twitter account for AMW.... and personally I’ll pass on the after show thing or discussion.

They should change Direct Result Captures Numbers to #1204, when the original AMW was cancelled in 2012, Show had captured 1204 Fugitives as a direct result of the show.

Not sure if this has been brought up yet but they need to make the AMWtips website available for people outside of the United States. I understand that's normal for some US media websites, but there are a lot of fans up here in Canada for instance.

I've been meaning to comment on this for the longest. I'm very glad that they brought AMW back. I didn't catch it while it was on TV but I did watch it on YouTube. Elizabeth Vargas does a great job in the context and environment we have now. Even if many of us wish Walsh to take the helm again, with him doing In Pursuit along with AMW returning, the more the merrier. I also appreciate the emphasis on using social media since many here stress AMW should stick to it's purpose, this shouldn't be your dad's AMW anymore.

You're right that AMW is a public service show and ratings shouldn't matter. With that being said, I don't want to put a damper on anything, but ratings are tricky, and I have no idea whether this is good or not, as television executives don't just go by ratings by certain demographics too, the 18-49 demographic is the sweet spot for advertisers, it shouldn't be about that, but sometimes it's not about numbers of viewers but WHO watched the show. So 2.2 looks decent on the surface, especially considering they were competing against The Voice and The Bachelor and had a rerun of 911 as a lead-in (ok The Voice is a fun show but why people would rather watch a trash show like The Bachelor over AMW is beyond me) but I'm not trying to be negative, my honest answer is that it looks good at least for Fox, but hopefully we give the show time to grow and get even more viewers!

I in no way mean this as disrespect to my hero John Walsh or even Callahan now that he's also on In Pursuit, but it seems the one thing we're all in agreement on is Vargas hit out of the park and honored JW's legacy very well! My worry has never been Vargas's ability, but that she could be the Walter Cronkite of true crime and we'd still get stubborn old school AMW viewers still going "No John Walsh I'm not watching" and not tuning in. But on this forum at least, Vargas is a rock star!

[bra Is there like at all any possible way for the NEW 2.0 Version of "AMW" can use some, many, or tons of the tips that came in without screwing/blowing up possible good leads to help feed the back up arguing at/toward the ratings 'pigs'? Like how long did it take for David James Roberts to be captured after he was profiled? Is it a question of both tons of tips as well as AMW 2.0's 1st ever capture as the cherry on top to make those ratings 'hogs' or 'pigs' to shove it up their dish pans?

Just like UM without Stack, it's the Tonight Show without Carlson, The Price is Right without Barker or American Bandstand without Clark. Some replacements have big shoes to fill, some may not be the best fit. But as long as they do a great job for the show to go on, many will be happy.

Not sure what you're referring to but hopefully as the show gets their first capture (s), it draws attention and thus increases ratings. There is a lot more media and casual viewing than there used to be, so there may be people actually not aware AMW is back yet, or people who discover it for the first time, so we can hopefully count on those additional viewers as well.

Adding onto the excellent points made by TheWebDetective and Scumhunter, I'm all for there being two fugitive focused true-crime shows for 2021. It's sort of like when AMW and Unsolved Mysteries both aired in the late 80s and the 1990s. It provides more time to cover a larger variety of cases.
