Maybe he thinks he'll get away with it in the end because it's been so long? Have a feeling as people have said that smirk won't last long when being told he's facing the needle. Possibly. Like I said it seems like a smart ass smirk. Maybe he's smug that it took this long for him to get caught. Still makes no sense because he still got caught and whatever time he has left is going to be spent in prison.

Seems like an oddly happy guy for someone who got caught after nearly 40 years on the run. Wonder what thats about. Maybe he thinks he'll get away with it in the end because it's been so long? Have a feeling as people have said that smirk won't last long when being told he's facing the needle.

We all know the saying that acting as one's attorney is having a fool for a client. What surprises me more is why it took so long to go to trial. Mpaka was caught in Minnesota, not another country. I get the mental health issues but 11 years later is insane (no pun intended). Same here. If nothing else, he might have mental health issues but he clearly knew right from wrong judged on the fact he fled after the crime and was giving a fake name to people who asked who he was. It shouldn't have taken this long to get him to trial. Here's hoping for a swift guilty verdict.

No problem at all with this outcome, as this will ensure he'll never be able to escape or hurt anyone else ever again.

Like I said in the general thread I don't want to sound like I'm defending an alleged rapist and murderer but the public Facebook profile of his- if I didn't know about anything else- I would have thought "seems like a good dude". Whether he snapped or always was hiding a sinister side, he now must pay for what he's done if proven guilty. I've known people who have gotten divorces where if you only went by their social media profiles, you wouldn't have seen it coming, as all of their posts and photos were of people who were in the best marriages in the entire world. Not any different with monsters like this. Their facebook profiles will show them to be normal, friendly people while they keep their true nature hidden until it's too late. It does appear from some comments being left on his facebook page that a few people in Kala's life had an inkling that this guy was bad news. Just another reminder of why you can't always go by a social media profile to know whether someone is a good person or not.

Should be a FBI Top 10 most wanted by now. I suspect he will be in short order.

Read the article and as others have said, it's a good read on a cold case.
As to him fleeing the U.S. after 92, if you look at some of the photos of him, you can see the resemblance from his teen years and would know it was him.
IMO, he saw himself on AMW and thought the same thing which is why he fled the U.S. and took measures to conceal all aspects of his past including his prior marriage and stepdaughters, his love of jazz and getting his mole removed.
While I wish he had been found alive and gone back to prison to serve his sentence, at least we have answers on what happened here at last.

Have to agree with others, I'd like to see the FBI Ten Most Wanted list used for bad guys/gals that have committed crimes in the U.S. and can be found with media tips etc., not folks like this who while bad aren't going to be caught with the help of the public, which was the whole purpose of the list.

I agree with others here.
I won't shed tears for Juarez-Corro's death but as others have said, the families of the victims had a right to their day in court and the neglect of the people in charge of ensuring he and others stayed safe so he could face trial dropped the ball and ensured that wouldn't happen.
At least the families of the people he killed can take comfort in the fact he died behind bars and not a free man.

No clue on registry. Articles just say he did jail time in Ohio, but frustratingly don't say how many years. If he was on the registry, I am genuinely horrified he managed to build as respectable of a career as he did. I don't think he was on any registry as that certainly would have come out if he was. If he was and they let him build his career up anyway, shame on them. More likely people were in the dark about his past and as predators often do, came across as so nice and friendly no one ever suspected the monster within.

www.wvua23.com/after-30-plus-years-serial-rapist-identified-with-99-99-certainty/An article that delves into Higgin's past and shows a darker side to him then just a man who ran music contents. While it's possible the people he worked with didn't know about his criminal history, it's also clear this wasn't something that came out of the blue either, as this man had a record of being a predator. Just a shame DNA technology wasn't as advanced back in the early 90's as it is now, would have likely led to him being caught while he was still alive and before more attacks could be carried out. Also have to sadly conclude there are more victims out there, a life long predator doesn't stop being one unless he's in prison or is too old to carry out attacks or has died.

The sketches were pretty accurate, in retrospect. I have a theory that Higgins may have been overlooked because he was probably very reputable within the music community. Yup and it's likely he was polite and respectful to everyone, not the type of person you would suspect of doing something like this.
