Thanks to our new forum member, author James Bruno, we now know William Bradford Bishop will definitely be aired in July on The Hunt. This of course does make sense since he was just added to the FBI's Top 10 List. So we now know of one former AMW fugitive who will be aired again. But this time they'll catch him!

I found an article online that confirms Shane Miller will indeed be profiled on The Hunt! This means we know at least one of our non-AMW recent fugitives will make the new John Walsh show, and this one is obviously not a surprise considering his horrific crime and making the USMS Top 15 List. And don't get me wrong, Miller was my #1 most wanted fugitive on our newly created forum exclusive yearly-most list so obviously I want him caught (and it would be awesome if he was The Hunt's first direct capture!). However, it does concern me though when they say the episode "will focus on him." I hope this means there's other fugitives on the episode and he's just the main focus. We knew it sounded like William Bishop might get a lengthy segment or even an entire hour devoted to him, and considering the length and complications of the case, I'm all for it and I think every once in a while it's a good idea, but I was hoping it was an exception rather than a rule. AMW after it's record-setting 2008 (at least during that decade), declined in captures on Fox every year since, in part because it's when Fox increased their Saturday sports programming and AMW was not aired as much, but also because AMW was starting to show less fugitives. There were episodes with only two or three fugitive with really old impossible to solve cold cases or missing student cases all the way in Japan thrown in. In addition to the reruns, the captures increased on Lifetime because the episodes showed more fugitives. Perhaps I'm worried over nothing, but the reason AMW was so successful and had so many captures is because they showed more than one fugitive, increasing the odds that they got at least one person from an episode. (I believed they captured at least one fugitive a week). If they only show one fugitive an episode, perhaps The Hunt will get some fugitives, but the capture rate will be much lower again. Also, The Hunt is really the new only court of last resort at the moment with AMW gone. It's important to get justice for as many people who need it and one fugitive an episode isn't going to do that. Perhaps I'm worried over nothing, we seem to be getting assurances this is basically like a documentary-version of AMW with maybe a few more international cases. My only two concerns about the show right now are A) Episodes with nothing but foreign fugitives harder to get caught that will decrease capture likelihood and B) Episodes that show too few fugitives or only one or two that will decrease capture likelihood. At least with Bishop and Miller, my first fear seems somewhat alleviated, but I'd like to see reassurances my latter fear isn't met. I guess we won't know until we see the show in July. www.actionnewsnow.com/content/localnews/story/Shane-Miller-to-be-subject-of-CNN-show/TuK76DNoUU2jwWXmgAB6aQ.cspx

I was flipping through channels and through CNN and apparently came across the end of a promo of The Hunt! Unfortunately, it was the end so I didn't see any clips but they did advertise "coming this summer on CNN!" I will update if I see what footage they show beforehand but is exciting to see they are now advertising it!!!!!!

Many of us clamored for AMW to air more parental and/or known abductor cases when it was on the air (I still think an entire episode where all the fugitives are parental/known abductors is a great idea) so this is a good thing. They also say "segment" as opposed to episode so this helps alleviate my fears The Hunt would have episodes with only one fugitive. My only other fear is CNN telling John Walsh "forget the fugitives, just look for the plane from now on!" I SWEAR I'm only kidding.

Ok a few things: 1. Finally saw the full promo- they didn't show any clips but it was still a really cool ad that gets you pumped for the show! They show a dessert, and a beetle walking along around a railroad track, then later a police badge, and eventually John Walsh's face. They then show a guy who looks like he's being taken down as we see a flight-of-stairs in a first-person point-of-view. Cut again to Walsh's face as some kind of scan technology quickly flashes on the left side of it. And then the "The Hunt" coming this Summer with the silhouette of Walsh's face logo we may have seen already. While this scenery is showing, a modern rock version of Johnny Cash's "God's Gonna Cut You Down" is playing (part of the lyrics are "you've been running for a long time sooner or later we're gonna cut you down). 2. I've actually found acting credits for the show so perhaps it won't be entirely docu-style format. Here is a webpage for one actor who says he'll be appearing in the hunt: www.christiancastroactor.com/I don't know if this means they'll have full re-enactments like AMW or if they'll do what they do on the ID channel. On ID's crime shows, they have partial re-enactments spliced with interviews. (In other words, AMW ran a re-enactment mostly straight through while ID would go back and forth and just showed major scenes of the case as opposed to a big production). I found another actor page and I discovered the role he's playing is the same name as a victim in a case I actually had in my pool of people to potentially profile in the forum exclusive section (I'll wait for the show now though). I only want to post cases said to be profiled on The Hunt in newspaper sources since I don't want to spoil or give anything away I'm not supposed to (if an article already says the Hunt was filming about the case, I feel it's fair game since they already spoiled it, albeit locally ). Any of our original members can private message me if they're that curious, but without giving anything away, it's another case where a drunk driver killed someone. I can't guarantee 100% it will be it but I feel based on the role the actor is playing there is a very good chance it will be that case. (Hopefully The Hunt has better luck than AMW did with drunk driving fugitives!)

Through further web research discovered another AMW fugitive getting a profile on The Hunt. David Burgert will be on the new show as well. I'm usually not crazy about airing guys who may be dead but it's been a while since they aired him and he is dangerous if still alive. The following is the official description: “On the Hunt with John Walsh” This new CNN series starring former news anchor John Walsh was shot May 5–9 near the Kalispell and Missoula areas. Styled as an “America’s Most Wanted” for the next generation, the series will feature John Walsh investigating criminals who are currently evading law enforcement agencies around the U.S. and internationally. The production came to investigate the story of David Burgert, a Montanan with ties to militia-style groups, who was involved in a high-speed chase and stand off before disappearing into the Lolo National Forest. He is presumed to be still at large. montanatourismnews.org/news/2014/05/14/montana-production-quickstops/Ok well they got the name of the show wrong and called John Walsh a "former news anchor" but hey at least we learned of another fugitive. So that's five fugitive cases (Genevieve and Scott Kelly counting as one case) we know about so far (The four I named and the one new fugitive I don't want to reveal without a news article). Four of them are former AMW fugitives!

Somewhat off-topic but the History Channel has a nature show called "The Hunt" now that debuted last night. Granted CNN's show's full title is The Hunt with John Walsh but it will inevitably be referred to as The Hunt as well. It would be ironic that since The Hunt seems to be essentially a re-named AMW due to Fox copyrights if there was a battle over which cable show is truly The Hunt! And as if the name isn't coincidental enough History channel's "The Hunt" debuted at 10 PM eastern on a Sunday, the same exact possible time slot as Walsh's show! Meaning The Hunt may be competing against The Hunt! www.history.com/shows/the-hunt

Now I see a CNN.com page saying The Hunt is at 9 PM and Death Row Stories is at 10 PM! They can't seem to make up their minds! lol. In any case, it's a better time slot for me (I can go to bed earlier when I have work lol), although Death Row Stories is an already established well-rated show that could have been a good lead-in: www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/

According to the blog link abovr, there are new leads in the case: I'll have no issue with this as long as two things are done. First is not to forget showing the suspect sketch (you never know who may be watching), the second is that this doesn't go longer than one-segment length.

A trailer for the show is now on CNN.com!!!!! And in addition to Shane Miller who we already knew would be be profiled on the show, the trailer shows the photos of fellow USMS top 15-er Kevin Stoesser and AMW fans forum exclusive fugitive Victor Barnard!!!! This show really does look like basically a revamped AMW!!!!
