Now my father is paranoid about going on his trip to California because he feels this Syria situation will start World War 3.

Without getting too political here except to say that I'm tired of us always going to war no matter who the President, Democrat or Republican is, I don't think he should be worried at all. You have to live your life. And to be honest, on the off-chance it does start World War III, then I'm not sure how safe you can feel anywhere.

My Super Bowl prediction is Denver over Seattle. I accidentally posted that in the suggestions for forums link, LOL.

Good start to football season. As an unfortunate New York Jets fan, pleasantly surprised by yesterday's game.

I'm heading back home to Chicago for a week starting on Saturday. I'm using up all my vacation time for the rest of the year because we're going to be down a reporter starting in October when she goes on maternity leave. It's going to be so nice to be away from the newsroom for a few days; this year has been unusually hectic compared to my last two!

For the last few years, I've been buying these direct-to-DVD movies, usually from Walmart or Target. Now, most people think direct-to-DVD means they're garbage, but I actually enjoy them, even more than most theatrical releases. My favorite ones are 13, Kill the Irishman, Pawn, Officer Down, and the recently released The Iceman. I was curious to see if anyone hear has seen them, and what they're opinions are.

Primary day in NYC today. Can't wait for the entire election season to be over so that my house and even personal cell phone are not called non-stop daily anymore.

I'm really not looking forward to the next couple election cycles in Iowa. Next year, Sen. Tom Harkin is retiring, and it's the first open-seat Senate race in Iowa since 1974. Both sides really want to win this race, and I can only imagine I'll get bombarded with ads nonstop. There's also a governor's race, but Gov. Terry Branstad looks very likely to win another term without a problem. The main challenger has no name recognition.
Then in 2016, not only will the presidential election be happening, but there's also ANOTHER senate race that will happen. Many believe that Sen. Chuck Grassley will end up retiring too (he's been in office since 1981) and if he does, that race will probably be a brutal one.
Oh, and two years after that is another governor's race, though by then Branstad will probably retire. The one thing I dislike about living in Iowa is that it's politics central.

So my cell-phone ring tone is now AMW's original theme song from 1988-1996. It's pretty easy to do this. It's not available as a ringtone but if you have a voice recorder you can record the theme song link on youtube onto it, save and then select an option to use it as a ringtone. I'll probably keep it for a month and then switch to the 96-03 one.

So not sure if I should have made my own thread for this but just so everyone knows I will be on vacation in the DC area from October 22nd until the 29th (the end of the government shutdown could not have come at a better time for me) Like Derek, I also want to explain why I'm able to afford to go on at least a vacation a year and that is A) I save money, only buying stuff needed like food and drink and band aids and B) I do not have a girfriend Seriously looking forward to it and finally being able to see the Museum of Crme and Punishment. And ironically, I have family in Silver Spring, where AMW is officially at. So anyway, I will have my laptop but obviously won't be bringing it with me every place I visit. If you guys post cases and I don't reply, don't take it personally. I'll be trying my best to be in vacation mode and gaining sanity. I'll do my best to reply to them when I get back from vacation. I'll really only go on to post news of captures and stuff like that and you guys will probably beat me to major news anyway since I'll be doing tourist stuff. Just if anyone gets captured that we've made a thread about just add to that thread and I'll move it to the captures when I get a chance. P.S. I'm going to sound like a bandwagoner, but I finally watched a few episodes of Breaking Bad and that is a really good show.

Hope you enjoy your vacation Scumhunter. I might have mentioned this already, but I've been posting less cases lately now that I'm in college. I will continue to post cases for you to reply to when you get back. College could be going a bit better, but I'm still attending all my classes and doing assignments, It's just the only math course I have to take is going poorly since my brain is pretty incapable with memorizing math now, and I have no idea why.
In case anyone's wondering, my program is Marketing.

I hated math when I was in school too. The only subject I never really got good grades in. So you're not alone. English was always my best subject. Same with my dad. We're both "creative" types (I was a creative writing major in college and my dad does artwork) so I'm not sure if that explains the inability to be engaged in math.
Good luck!

Oddly enough I got an 80 in Marketing and an 83 in International Business back in high school (The majority of my other marks were in the 80's). I'm very logical so I should be good at math, but it started in Grade 12 where math started to make less and less sense to me.
And thank you.
