The FBI has just raided Jared "Subway Guy" Fogle's home in Zionsville, IN, as part of a child porn investigation. But Jared hasn't been arrested for any involvement. In fact, some news networks report that he's been cooperating in the investigation. His foundation's Executive Director, Russell Taylor, had been arrested this past April for trading child pornography and voyeurism. In May, Taylor wounded himself in an attempt at suicide in jail, and has been on life support since. Most people surrounding Fogle believe the confiscated storage units are all related to Taylor's crimes. As long as Fogle keeps answering questions, any suspicion surrounding the Subway Guy might blow over soon enough.

Yeah I feel like Fogle has been given a raw deal here. Unlike Bill Cosby, the other celebrity in the news the past few days, there's no evidence Fogle did anything wrong. A guy in his house was the one with the child porn and Fogle is said to have been cooperating with the FBI.

I talked with HeadMarshal about this in private- when I was an older teenager young adult I tried to pretend to be brash. But in all honesty, I really did care what people thought of me.
It wasn't until I was in my late 20's that I started to not give a crap- I like me and I know people like me (this sounds like Stuart Smalley lol) and that's all that matters.
However, the past few months I've noticed a few people popping up not liking what we have to say on our site- either publicly or privately trying to get us in trouble with proboards (our server- who I'm not just saying this- are awesome!). So even though I should have realized this sooner, I've come to the realization we have lurkers not because they enjoy this site but because they DON'T like our reporting. And while I normally don't care what people think of me, when I think I'm doing the right thing and doing a great service, it is disappointing when people think we're jerks.
Then I came across this quote by Winston Churchill being shared on some social media sites-
"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."
And it instantly made me feel better. We're trying to get justice for victims. All the fugitives, etc. have a right to be presumed innocent, but the victims also have a right to see them go to trial and held accountable if guilty.
So screw the haters, we're doing nothing wrong and have been more than fair in some cases. (See Dan Hiers and Vickie Nash threads as proof)

Ok, now there is evidence of wrongdoing, and pretty creepy stuff as well, with him appearing to admit paying to have sex with a 16-year old girl off of craigslist. Not taking back anything I said since there was nothing directly linking Jared at the time I said it. But now it doesn't look good for Jared: www.eater.com/2015/8/1/9083891/subway-jared-fogle-texts-underage-sex-franchisee

The Tennessee Bureau Of Investigation, alongside it's current 10 Most Wanted List (freely viewable online), is developing a website page for other fugitives out of the state. I will be very excited to see that when it's done and kudos for them. tn.gov/tbi/topic/other-major-fugitive-cases

Was flipping channels and came across a Dateline rerun on OWN (hey, I was flipping channels lol), that discussed the Randy Dial/Bobby Parker case. AMW was mentioned Bobby was interviewed on-camera for what they said was the first time ever. She still maintains her innocence that she was Dial's victim despite being convicted. Hard to know what's true or not. On one hand, she had numerous opportunities to tell authorities, including a time Dial was in the hospital after suffering a heart attack. She claims she never said anything because she feared retaliation even if Dial was captured. On the other hand, so many people stood by her, the Defense had 38 witnesses. In any case, she seems to be with her husband and family and in a loving relationship now regardless of what really happened between her and Dial.

Planning on doing overdue replying and thread posting soon. We're about to complete first aid training and then I have the weekend off.

Great! I can really use more cases posted from people besides me to lighten the load, especially since I've been somewhat busy lately.

P.S. Off-topic but if anyone notices I just deleted a thread it's because I found out they were captured. I was relying on Fugitive Watch but they don't always update when someone is arrested.

I have a question about casualty tolls. How much more seriously does law enforcement treat murder with a casualty toll of, for example, 1 dead and 1 wounded, as opposed to only 1 dead? How much further out of their way will detectives go to find a murderer if the suspect has another victim who was wounded but survived? How much stiffer of a sentence do most homicide suspects get for killing one victim and severely wounding another when the second victim survives?

I've watched enough First 48 to know homicide detectives- the good ones anyway, are determined to solve any case regardless of who the victim is and regardless of how many people were shot/stabbed/killed. The bottom line is this- no one has the right to take a life unless self defense. In addition, even if the victim is not so innocent, solving his/her case could still potentially reduce violence in the area. So the Detective feels the need to do his job- whether it's a double homicide of a loving couple or a single homicide of a guy with a history of felony convictions.
There may be more societal pressures on a Detective- the public may pressure them more to solve a triple or more homicide case- or if it's a single homicide case where the victim was a beloved member of the community or under 18.
However, the good ones are supposed to treat every case the same and without bias in order to solve it.
Sentences are usually a different story and a Judge usually decides whether to sentence a Defendant consecutively (in other words, 25 years for attempted murder served after 50 years for first degree murder) or concurrently (both sentences served at the same time so just 50 years). And plea deals if a Defendant pleads guilty before there can be a trial also factors in.

Aiming for tomorrow to be "Catch Up On Forum Posts And Post New Threads Day" This is also a notice that Scumhunter has mentioned before but I'll mention it again. Everyone is free to post new case threads as long as they don't have threads yet.
