I didn't know they added an age-progressed photo for him until last night, though I was surprised since Fidel's picture is just as old and they haven't done anything for his yet.

There's a trial going on right regarding Barrio Azteca members and the 2010 murders of three people connected the US consulate in Ciudad Juarez. Ravelo is briefly mentioned in one of the articles I read. www.elpasotimes.com/latestnews/ci_25066828/us-consulate-trial-witness-says-slayings-consulate-workersEdit: Found more information on Borderland Beat. At one point, Ravelo was upset that a female prostitute was raped, murdered and had one of her breast nipples bitten off (I can say that here right?). Azteca leaders had told Jesus Chavez to simply get her out of the area and was concerned that her murder would bring unwanted attention on the gang. A DNA test and the gang's own investigation cleared Chavez of the prostitute's murder. Ravelo also apparently wanted to take out Juan "JL" Ledezma, the leader of La Linea, who hasn't been seen in recent years. www.borderlandbeat.com/2014/02/barrio-aztecas-usconsulate-murder-trial.html

www.npr.org/2014/03/25/294133885/vicious-gang-barrio-azteca-gets-its-start-in-el-pasoNew Barrio Azteca related article out by NPR. It doesn't mention anything new about Ravelo, just some more backstory about the gang and an interview with a jailed member in Mexico who is serving a life sentence for killing 16 people in a Chihuahua bar. It also mentions that some Azteca members get training from the infamous Los Zetas drug cartel.

Eduardo "Tablas" Ravelo's boss in Mexico, Vicente "El Viceroy" Carrillo Fuentes (the leader of the Juarez Drug Cartel) was arrested yesterday in Torreon, Mexico. Does this mean Barrio Azteca mainly goes back to being a cross-border prison gang? I'm assuming their influence in cartel activities will remain. www.borderlandbeat.com/2014/10/juarez-kingpin-vicente-carrillo-fuentes.html

This drug war will never end. One guy dies or gets captured and another one takes over. But I assume it means there is an improved chance they can capture Ravelo based on this- even though he allegedly has underwent plastic surgery.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ravelo, like Fidel Urbina, has been arrested in Mexico during his time on the run. Although unfortunately if anybody could bribe Corrupt Authorities to keep off their back, it's him.

What troubles me about Ravelo is that tips from the public aren't going to bring him in but rather good intelligence from authorities in Mexico. I'll give it another year for him and Gerena to be caught/ located and found deceased, because they are taking up valuable slots other recent fugitives deserve. Ravelo lives in what is basically a luxurious fortress with what some 50 guards right? This guy doesn't belong on the FBIs ten most wanted list at all as messed up as it may sound and I apologize but there's really no point to have him on there, to me in a way it's Semion Mogilevich 2.0 yet in this case the authorities are mostly corrupt.

The thing is we kind of got spoiled by the FBI removing Mogilevich- the FBI removing a guy or girl from the top 10 list is something they RARELY do. They had removed Donald Eugene Webb 8 years prior. Before that, it was Arthur Lee Washington 7 years prior. So it seems *usually* you should expect a 7 year wait at least for a fugitive to be removed without capture. For them to remove not just one but two or three guys within two years would be unheard of, and go down in top 10 list history.
The only similar scenario I can see is between 2004-2006 when the U.S. Marshals removed Mauricio Menednez, John Vu, and Gerald Hemp all within a short time of each other from top 15 list. I think we're unsure of who was removed when but the Marshals had a capture lull in 2006 and a bunch of breaking news cases were happening (Richard McNair, Ralph "Bucky" Phillips") so it sort of forced their hand.
Yeah I agree maybe Ravelo like Mogilevich isn't the best use of the FBI's resources since he may have had a facial reconstruction and it's also going to take help from Mexico like with El Chapo. But the FBI in general doesn't remove fugitives from the top 10 list.
Gerena, I don't see him being removed any time soon, especially with the thaw in U.S-Cuban relations, which would be a reason to keep a still relatively young fugitive (57 years old) on the list despite him being arguably the least objectionable person on it. Plus, how bad would that look if you're improving relations with Cuba yet give up on a fugitive likely in Cuba right afterwards.
I do think 5-10 years from now, Gerena has a good chance at removal, I voted for him in your poll for that reason, but not in the next 1-4 years.
Ravelo's the most likely guy to be removed before say 2020, I agree. But I wouldn't expect it any time soon.

Yes I agree though I hope Ravelo goes down the same way el Chapo did. As for Gerena I not only think he's in Cuba but also hiding out in Puerto Rico.... He probably might have taken a flight out of Cuba to Puerto Rico, but there is confidence he can be extradited back. On to Ravelo , the $100,000 reward is very underrated for a guy with so much Power (negative way), but I feel a $750,000 reward seems better I know it seems silly but I don't think it will help if that reward goes up to say $2,000,000 or $5,000,000 because tips won't bring him in but you never know if anyone in the group would rat him out for the reward.... I know it really isn't a good idea.

Mogilevich has been out for a few months now and Saenz was caught 3 1/2 years ago. let it sink in that Ravelo has outlasted both of them and is now is the only 2009 addition left. I feel it's a bit divided on what you think of Ravelo on the list.... Tips won't bring him in but having him on the top ten list gives national attention to his crimes.
The authorities need to start staking out for intelligence and then doing an operation consisting of Joint Mexican & U.S. Law enforcement along with the Mexican military if they plan on getting this guy... Or perhaps we'll have to wait until marijuana is legalized, taxed and regulated so he could lose profit which would be many years from now.
Ravelo is an okay addition to the list despite the fact that he's still on it 6 1/2 years later makes it surprising, but that's the thing with these Drug trafficking types.... They won't be nabbed in a heart beat but at the same time it's time for the authorities of the respected jurisdiction to act and bring this guy in once and for all.

The War on Drugs in my opinion has been a colossal failure and I believe marijuana should be legalized, taxed, and regulated like alcohol.
However, the problem with Ravelo is he's allegedly murdered people as a result of his cartel and that can't be excused and why he will likely remain on the top 10 list for years to come regardless of what gets legalized and/or how the war on drugs plays out.

The reason I said wait for legalization is because Ravelo will get desperate enough that he and his crew may resort to different and more brutal tactics, if he loses profit.
He could end up dealing arms or even extort people for no reason, so perhaps once it's legalized the authorities can move in before he does anything else... Ravelo's minions could be going out murdering people right now as I post this and it's very chilling.
In a sense Mexico has dragged their feet but at the same time I understand, they need am operation to nab Ravelo or maybe he goes down in a shootout.
Ravelo I think is still alive, not living in a really big mansion not living a lavish lifestyle, also like El Chapo the guy may end up going through underground tunnels, I know this next one seems far fetched but perhaps he has an underground home/shelter where he lives and it explains really why he's been at large for as long as he has.
