HeadMarshal is now an Assistant Chief (Moderator) on this forum. When I'm not available, he will move any threads if needed such as if a fugitive gets captured. Congrats HM!

this website is now using viglink. It's a free service in conjunction with the forum server (ProBoards) that allows revenue if anyone clicks on a link. For instance, if someone says "I went to Burger King" in the off-topic thread blue lettering leading to a link would be over the words Burger King (if they were an ad partnet that is). I want to stress I never looked to make money off this site when I first started it and never thought it was even possible- it was originally just a free forum to discuss AMW. But I figure since it is a free service being offered, I should take advantage of it and it may also at least hopefully help cover the costs associated from making this a .com site if nothing else. Just letting anyone know in case they see weird blue links. We'll see how this goes. My biggest fear is those links appearing in a serious thread like "they were both shot and killed at a McDonald's" and if it gets to that point I'll have to reconsider as I'd feel it may be inappropriate. But if anyone has any complaints such as if it makes the forum slower or anything I'll look into it. It hopefully should be hardly noticeable besides the blue lettering. So far the only viglink I could find was me mentioning Batman in the off-topic thread, which somehow leads to an Amazon link of Batman movies and products.

Anyone else want me to post more Canadian cases that weren't on AMW (mainly fugitive cases but there are unsolved crimes and missing person cases as well).

Do it! That's the beauty of this interactive forum!

I was talking with HeadMarshal about when to profile fugitives on The Hunt. Although he had a point that we can wait to see if they're captured first and if they are, there will be a thread, I also feel that people will naturally want to look up these fugitives after watching the show and naturally come across the site so this is good since we will have threads ready. So part of me is thinking of making threads on the fugitives we know will be on the show in the next few weeks. For selfish reasons, I admit part of this is I think this will also help with website traffic since people will look up the fugitives after the show, but website traffic also means more eyes that could lead to more captures. We have some names already, so we will have a lot of time saved too. I have work and other things so this probably wouldn't be a recurring theme to constantly give threads to fugitives we find about will be aired, but I figure this may save time for at least the beginning of the show. The other question is once the show is established when to make threads. In my opinion, the lead stories can have threads right away if new, but the rest we can wait to see if captured. The only con I see is perhaps we could provide a better summary based on the information provided on the show if we waited. I also plan on adding a breaking news case today or tomorrow if that fugitive is not captured, but I wanted to get a head start on The Hunt. Thoughts?

Added Charles Mozdir (mainly because he got a description as opposed to just a photo on The Hunt's page so I'm assuming they will spend some time on him), we'll see how this goes as to whether I'll continue adding more cases.

The breaking news fugitive has turned himself in (Marquice Anderson who killed three mothers in a hit-and-run in Florida in case anyone was wondering), so I will focus on The Hunt and maybe some other AMW cases I recently found out were still active as well!

I read about Anderson on fugitive.com and it's really good that he surrendered!

I had an idea for a pinned topic. A listing of one forum fugitive case for each of the 50 US states (plus one international case). It could be a cool way to showcase fugitives in different states and bring attention to some of the lesser known fugitives.
Of course if anyone knew how to make an interactive 50/50 states graphic like amw.com once had, then that would really be awesome (however I'm assuming that no one here has a clue how to do that).

Hmmm.. seems like it would take a lot of work. Perhaps this forum can have themes and every now and then pin something like that to the top, but I think it seems like a lot at the moment. People seem to binge-read and see a lot of these cases anyway (I'm assuming), and a lot of people find this site because they're interested in a particular case, so I'm not sure a 50/50 thing is really necessary. Creative idea though!

I used to know how to do that with basic HTML, but I've long since forgotten those skills (it's been 10 years since I've used them). We could always do a text listing as well, but that wouldn't be as exciting. Too bad. I do agree it's a great idea though!

Somewhat off-topic but another milestone for this forum. Just recently was our 5,000th post!

Robbie suggested we do a countdown clock for the Hunt. Not sure how that work. Perhaps a sticky announcement at the top of all-forums and sub-forums reminding everyone or just keep updating the upcoming or John Walsh new show thread? It'll be like the fugitive version of New Years Rockin' Eve. Anyway, today marks 5 days until the Hunt debuts!

I put a Countdown Clock on the site at the top which I thought was a good compromise. Is that good enough or should we just overkill it and do a sticky announcement in all the forums?
