Rather frustrated when it comes to prospective membership here. I think we have decent board activity and slowly but surely keep adding people but I unfortunately still reject more registrations than I approve. This is even after I loosened the "answer the registration question or don't get approved" rule since I realized no one not even legitimate posters ever answered the question. So while I still have a registration message to make it easier for me to determine legitimate posters who answer the question as long as their screen name/e-mail is normal enough I'll approve them. Unfortunately sometimes registrations are TOO normal/vague or weird. I've been an admin long enough to develop a decent formula for detecting spam/trolls. I even banned registration for one ip address because it was an obvious sneaky trolling or spamming attempt. Some of these people may be legitimate posters but in addition to not answering the question I don't have enough information to make a determination. (For example a business e-mail address is one thing but hotmail registrations always make me suspicious. Who the heck still uses hotmail? LOL) If I don't have enough information to make a valid determination, I unfortunately have no choice but to reject membership.
So I implore anyone reading this to PLEASE include your reason for interest in your registration message to make it easier for me or if anyone here knows people who would like to legitimately talk about the show to please tell them to join and fill in that box. I've had about six "members" who tried to join this week and rejected about four of them. And this is after loosening the rules to register. I can't play guessing games.

Attempting to add statistics to as many fugitives as I can along with appropriate authorities to call if mentioned in articles. This will be reflected if you can call using The Hunt. And this will be a slow process that may take months considering the many other cases I may add. But if anyone sees their posts were edited, that's why.

I'm starting from the bottom up so I apologize to HeadMarshal for being my unintentional guinea pig in the recent tv fugitives section as a lot of his cases are there but check it out if anyone wants

Thanks! Knowing my luck months from now after I'm finally done editing the threads for new police numbers for people to call for the old amw fugitives AMW will come back in addition to The Hunt and I'll have to edit the threads again for their new number. Then again that would be a good problem to have!

Curious what everyone think of our site name (America's Most Wanted Fans) and website amwfans.com I made a deliberate choice to still call this site amwfans when purchasing a .com address even knowing a new show from John Walsh was coming. 10 years from now if AMW never comes back, The Hunt might be a more recognizable name if it hopefully lasts that long but my reasoning behind calling this AMW fans was that we profile the "most wanted fugitives" In America and all fugitive-oriented tv shows even though the main focus will now be on the Hunt. Thoughts? Is everyone still ok with America's Most Wanted fans?

I'm perfectly fine with keeping the AMW Fans name. It was the show that inspired the forum in the first place

I have stickied Chris Ponce to the top of the recent fugitives section with Mozdir gone (literally!). Even though David Burgert likely won't be added to the US Marshals Top 15 anytime soon I figure it's good to leave him in the USMS section as a potential contender so two different fugitives on the August 3rd show can be stickied to the top for this week (I'm going to wait a few more days for Miller and Kevin Stoeser though and then sticky Burgert.) I also figure to give them even more prime exposure and because people will search for them, ALL non-captured fugitives from The Hunt's first season will be stickied until after the season 1 finale. But the fresher ones (upcoming in new episodes) will have "Prime Sticky Status."

Just finished entering all our current case files or other threads I felt should be preserved into archive.org. ProBoards has an internal backup of all its' forums, but I like being on the safe side. I will also try to save any new cases when they appear on our site as well. Anyone else can feel free to save in archive.org after they make a new thread as well. I realized I never did anything to "save" or preserve our case threads before this week. Between that and updating the fugitive threads to include police or Crime Stoppers lines if they aren't Hunt cases, I've been a busy man! I wish I had thought of all these ideas when I wasn't working nearly every day for two straight months. Hopefully and this is a friendly estimate, all the appropriate phone numbers inserted into fugitive and other case threads should be done by the end of September.

Frustrated at the lack of membership lately. We haven't had a new member in two weeks. (I think there was one registry that didn't provide enough information for me to approve it, it's really frustrating when that happens since I need as many approvals as I can). Please if you know of anyone who likes AMW and/or The Hunt get them over here, we need more new members to get these cases active!

What annoys me (and this is not an insult to anyone) is that there are some very avid followers of this forum's facebook page yet they haven't signed up on the actual forum. That really doesn't make any sense to me. I would love to chat cases with them on here.

There are some from the Facebook fan page that registered here and then never posted. Some never even logged in after I approved them. It's ok to register and just be a lurker- but to register for an account and then never even bother to log in- I really don't get it.

I should note I know I am part of the problem as I contradict myself begging for people to join with a somewhat strict screening process- but it's really not as bad as other sites. One true crime forum hasn't approved me yet when I registered two months ago- , now I know how it feels LOL! Have respect for all the other crime sites as well, but some of them you can ONLY post if you're referred by another member and then you have to go through all these hoops and stop short of giving out the last four minutes of your social security number. Granted some of them have a high number of registrations so I understand. All I ask is that people answer the registration box or if they register without answering it they don't have suspicious or weird screen names or e-mails like Imafugitive@yahoo.com. Come on people and join the site already!
