Working on blurbs for my Top 20 of 2021 Most Wanted list to come out next month. Unlike last year, where my main issue was figuring out who would be #1 since I could have made an argument for like at least five if not more of them before Clarence Hebron came out of nowhere as an unfortunate late breaking news case that had to be #1, I do know for sure who my #1 is for sure this year unless he gets captured before I release my list or another unfortunate Hebron-like case happens. The main issue is 2-20 is filled with a lot of cases that are similar to each other and unfortunately that means some terrible cases will be ranked lower than they should be and/or maybe not even make the list. For instance there's unfortunately a bunch of cases involving a deceased child and/or pregnant woman as the victim. And there's like even more awful DUI or hit-and-run homicide cases than usual this year but to have variety on the list I can't include all of them, so there's going to be at least two if not three or more awful DUI homicide cases that would have made the list any other year that won't make it this year unless some other captures happen. Then you have fugitives where articles say they may be connected to other homicides or you get the sense they're involved in more murders but I try to rank them based only on the official charges since every thing else is still technically speculation. And yeah to give an idea how sad and tragic my list is- Martin Munoz currently isn't even on it despite the fact I'm probably going to add him to my personal dirty Dozen if a slot ever opens up (my excuse is that he's a pre-2020 TV fugitive and from now on I want to keep the yearly list as relatively recent and exclusive as possible even though general rule is wanted within the past ten years). The list isn't something that should be "fun" but going through it felt even more brutal and heartbreaking than usual this year. Thanks to some late captures, I was able to put Munoz on the list after all as my one pre-2020 exception. A rollercoaster ride as I went from not having room for him on the list to eventually putting him in the top ten (but not #1) but that will be my only spoiler. My full list will come out this Sunday the 12th.

Some of you may have noticed with a new year is a new site change as I'm for now changing fugitives/cases of the week from Sunday to Saturday to Saturday-Friday. This really has to do with my upcoming work schedule change which in theory should finally be happening in one or two weeks but it also gives me leeway in that if I forget to post a new case or get busy on a Saturday for the week it's no big deal since I'd just post the new one for the week on a traditional Sunday to make up for it anyway. (Unfortunately that might be less time on the front page for that week but even five days is plenty long enough if you ask me anyway). So yeah for now cases of the week might be posted on Saturdays but in reality there is no set day anymore and it's just 7 days from when I remember to post a case. Hopeful that wasn't too confusing lol.

Love everyone at In Pursuit but very disappointed that the moderators in the In Pursuit: Missing and Wanted Facebook group are allowing people to post these ridiculous "Brian Laundrie is still alive" conspiracy theories. Sorry I meant to post this in annoying comments on social media thread so I'll be moving it there.

Some of you may notice I've been posting more cases than usual lately. I want to stress I do have a life outside of this site. Speaking of which, the reason I have been posting more cases than usual is that sometime in the middle or towards the end of this month, I expect to be pretty busy for the rest of the year. So I am trying to get in as many cases as I can now to make up for the lack of prolificness later on. (Where I will still post, just not as many cases). So sorry if I have been driving people crazy with so many cases but there's so many people that need help so I want to cram in as many as I can while I'm still more open in my scheduling. Well I'm finally working a traditional day job starting this Sunday. Me and HeadMarshal have the fugitive cases down pat, but I encourage everyone to post cases as well especially non-fugitive cases since me and HM mainly post fugitive cases and have that covered and since although I still want to oversee and help out, I likely won't be able to be as available as I used to. (the reason for me seemingly being on here all the time the past five years was it was a pay to pass the time on night shif). This will hopefully make up for being likely less prolific. Don't worry about fitting format as I can always fix that whenever I do have free time. Hope that wasn't too confusing. But yeah starting next week will be new territory for me. We'll see how it goes trying to have a traditional day shift and traditional working man life while still running this forum lol.

The worst part for me I think is going to be when we have a victim's loved one post on here since if I'm at work it will be harder to give a lengthier reply than I'd like (I sort of can only reply during mini coffee or lunch breaks). It kills me if they're posting at 10 am and I have to wait til I get home.

Very excited because I found out one of my personal dirty Dozen has been caught through a source, but because he hasn't been extradited I can't say anything yet. So just a note if captures ever seem stagnant, sometimes there are cases of fugitives already caught but it hasn't been made public. It's happened a few times on this forum and it kills me to not be able to share the good news but it eventually gets public and shared soon enough

Hey guys, the before 2000s tv missing section was getting crowded so I changed to 1990s and before 1990s tv missing, like an idiot I accidentally sent a bunch of threads to the unsolved on tv and exclusive missing sections, but I think I fixed everything, just let me know if you find any leftovers (in private message please haha).

Looking for some advice here.
When this website started, streaming was still somewhat in its' infancy. So it is a weird I have sections distinguished as TV and exclusive since more and more people are cutting the cord and watching stuff via streaming (including me tbh) but even if they don't have traditional cable, they're still watching on Hulu live, youtube tv etc...
So I'm wondering if there's another name to reflect the change in the way we watch our media, especially since even when streaming, people are watching on cell phones ipads, etc.. and not necessarily on tvs anymore. There needs to be a way to distinguish when we're the only media profiling a case, hence the exclusive section can pretty much stay as that. But it's becoming where crime shows and stories are expanding beyond not just streaming, but on national media as well.
Wondering if maybe I should change the section names from Fugitives on TV, Missing on TV, to something like National Media Fugitives, National Media Missing etc... or if someone has a better name suggestion for it. Granted, even if people are streaming, most of them are watching on tv, but it still feels like possibly an antiquated term with the way today's media is. Or is just calling it tv good enough for now?

I would call it featured on a “Crime Program/National News Media” fugitives, Missing and Unsolved.
There’s plenty of crime programs on Being streamed, there’s plenty of YouTubers who profile cases, so theoretically they are being profiled on a crime program by 2022 standards, as well as the usual In Pursuit is included in this definition.
The national news media is of course any case profiled in the national spotlight covered by the news.

Not a bad suggestion!
I should stress I'm not sure I want to make this change immediately, just it is something I'm thinking about down the road the more the way we consume our media changes.

Not a bad suggestion! I should stress I'm not sure I want to make this change immediately, just it is something I'm thinking about down the road the more the way we consume our media changes. Also with this change, should we consider any case covered by any YouTuber a media case as it is on an international platform? This will make the Crime Program/National News Media section crowded… or I may be wrong and it’ll be mainly the high profile cases that are covered on YouTube.

Not sure. It's my fault for bringing it up but it's just something I want to potentially think about in the future. I'm not sure if an individual YouTuber should count, but a YouTube series like criminally listed possibly should be considered.

Hi all, just letting everyone know I'll be taking my annual vacation in a few days (a little earlier than usual but I learned going to warm climates even in June can be too humid or rainy lol), but the forum will be in the more than capable hands of HeadMarshal for the week. In general, I like to go on vacation to get away from things, even the forum, but the one exception is if there's a big capture like Jason Brown or Alexis Flores I'd like to know and you guys can send me a message via proboards and I'll see it lol.

One thing I feel happens to thankfully me and most people as they age is the ability to handle criticism. Usually the older you get, the less sensitive to criticism you become. The one thing that still admittedly bugs me is when good intentions are misunderstood. (Let's say for example you hold the door for an older woman wanting to be kind and helpful, and instead of saying thanks she yells that she's not that old and can get the door herself, that type of stuff). This site's criticisms for the most part are from people like the fugitive's relatives or stuff like that and you can brush it off like "yeah sure pal, your relative who was caught on camera shooting the victim isn't guilty and how dare we profile them". But there have been a few times where one unique aspect I should have known could happen but wasn't quite prepared for when I started this site is when the criticism comes from a victim's loved one. For the most part, it is an error or mistake on my part, a typo or factual error and the criticism is completely fair and I correct it. But a couple of years ago, a victim's loved one critiqued on social media the way we covered a story (I won't say if it was a fugitive or unsolved case to not give it away to much). This was despite the fact everyone else including much larger media and publications covered the story the same way we did, and I didn't think I said anything factually wrong. Still, I decided to be the bigger man, and edited the story to tell it to the way they wanted it to be told. Several years later, and much larger media continues to cover the story in the way this person had a problem with the way we did it, yet oddly we're the only media that's ever been called out. Heck, I recall an interview with a journalist covering the case where I heard them say something so much more offensive than anything we've ever said and yet they were never called out. It's a catch-22 as I admittedly did get kind of pissed off, but on the other hand I don't want to be petty, I can't imagine what that person is going through, and not to mention I am sure their loved one's killer will strike again if they haven't already. They're still a victim or victim's loved one at the end of the day. (John Walsh has always said he's not the victim, Adam was, so I want to be careful in the way I say that). So I bit my tongue and continue to bite my tongue, but I will admit this is the one of the rare critiques I still ruminate about lol. So yeah for the most part I can handle criticism. But the one exception where my feelings are admittedly hurt is when a victim's loved one doesn't realize this site is/was only trying to help. Not sure where I'm going with this but just I saw the criticism of us done by someone else yet again and wanted to make a not sure if this would count as a rant, but just get this off my chest. Actually enough time has passed I feel I can describe this one which I think is a better example. The forum was relatively new and I got a request from a missing person's loved one to post their case. The person was missing from Harrisburg, Illinois. The capitol of Pennsylvania is Harrisburg (and more well-known Harrisburg) so it was in the back of my head and I accidentally put Pennsylvania in the thread title. The person joined the forum, replied "He's missing from ILLINOIS NOT PENNSYLVANIA! in all caps" and then complained about "America's Most Wanted" getting the state wrong on social media. This in addition to not even getting a thank you for honoring her case request. And so this is one of these strange catch-22 situations I wasn't prepared for. On one hand you have to understand the relative is in a sad situation and more likely to get upset than usual. On the other hand, although I admittedly made a mistake, I felt like it was a pretty reasonable mistake others would also make. It's not like I put Harrisburg California. Most people think of Pennsylvania when they hear Harrisburg unless they live in the other one I feel. Don't get me wrong, I'm still human and I've completely (thankfully rarely) f-ed up cases and put like "Chicago Colorado" and I would be hard on myself and have to profusely apologize for an embarrassing error like that. But in terms of errors on this site, I wouldn't have mistaking one city's state for the same more well known same name city's state in even my top ten. But it's cases like that one where I have the dilemma of admittedly being kind of annoyed and feelings hurt that my good intentions felt unappreciated while also not wanting to be petty to a loved one suffering at the same time. Unfortunately I think that missing person did die (not of foul play) but yeah its been an adjustment realizing its not just fugitives relatives that can give us a hard time sometimes lol
