Ok so I spoke to someone for advice and was told the potential liability of taking tips probably outweighs the potential rewards so I will not be adding a tip form to this site. If someone ignores my disclaimers that we're not AMW/The Hunt and sends me a tip anyway I'm not going to ignore it and will forward it properly, I'm not going to let a good lead go ignored even if I didn't solicit it, but I officially will not continue to take any. I would like some darn credit if someone sees a picture off this site and calls the cops and the guy gets captured though!

We're almost at 300 members! Of course every time this happens a bunch of suspicious registrations come in right before. At 100 and 200 this happened to me too. It's ALWAYS when we're right at a milestone when a bunch of suspicious registrations all happen at once. So close but so far away. It's frustrating since I've now rejected three in a row. Two just had a general gmail address and didn't answer the registration question and the other when I Googled their username (one way of doing a background search if the registration question isn't answered), found a Facebook profile whose posts were all gangsta rap and world-star hip-hop videos. Obviously I can't judge entirely based on that, but when there's nothing there to indicate you're an AMW/Hunt fan as well it looks suspicious. We also had a member who had "formeragent" in their screen name last week but they didn't answer the registration question. As cool as it would be, if they don't answer, I can't tell if it's a bogus registration or not (even if they filled out the box, they could still be lying, but it would be a little more detectable) so I can't approve since I don't really know whether or not it's a former agent or someone pretending to be one.
I know I sound like a broken record here but WHY DOES NO ONE EVER FILL OUT THE BOX THAT SAYS "YOU MUST ANSWER THE REGISTRATION QUESTION FOR A BETTER CHANCE AT APPROVAL" IN ALL CAPS! It is so freaking frustrating. We'd have about 350 members on here possibly if people learned how to read and pay attention to instructions. I'm sick and tired of having to rely on common sense to validate a registration (which can't always be 100 percent accurate) when really all they have to do is fill out a frigging box that they're told to do so in all caps.

Getting nervous. We might be on the verge of our first ever amwfans.com direct capture but I haven't heard back from the person in two days. I always say we don't officially take tips, we're a fan page, but if someone sends me one, I'm not going to let it go to waste and will steer them in the right direction or heck send it in myself. I have had tips on a few fugitives I've sent in or told others where to send it in, but this week's tip is the first time where I felt really confident it might actually be the fugitive. I'm not going to hype up the capture like AMW when they announced a HUGE capture and it turned out to be Larene Austin (still a great capture but let's face it an announcement like that makes you think it's an FBI top tenner). It's not an FBI or US Marshals top list guy or girl or one of the more well-known cases to fans, but it will still be a pretty good capture if everything works out and will still be huge for us since it will be our first...

I am wondering if perhaps it might be easier to get rid of the FBI and US Marshals top list message boards and just include those on the lists in the yearly fugitives on tv sections. This would complicate things if a guy gets added and he wasn't aired on television but it is a bit weird that the most viewed fugitiveson this site are in a section under another section. We can always have them in a general section and just mention their FBI or US Marshals designation. For example instead of their added year it would read Yaser Said- Texas- 2008 (FBI Top 10), Matthew Dion- New Hampshire- 2014 (US Marshals Top 15), etc.
This way the most notorious fugitives would be right up front as opposed to a section below fugitives who mostly are not as popular. (A person reading this forum would then notice them a bit more up front)
Thoughts?

P.s. I would still keep the threads about topics such as the histories of the list, next fugitive to get caught, etc. but would move those to the off-topic section.

Thanks. It's almost time to do my monthly forum shuffle so perhaps I'll do that soon.

Ok done. Things may look a little weird and jumbled right now but that should change when I do the site shuffle tomorrow or Monday. The good news is this is only an experiment and if things don't work out we can always go back to the old format.

Finally added a contact form for outside our website. I found when I had a regular e-mail address no one ever seemed to know it was there even when I put it in my signature. Once again this is only an experiment but it could help out site gain new information about cases and/or get interesting case requests for new cases. I'm also going to (slowly) put this underneath the case files in hopes of generating more information. If this becomes nothing but hate mail to our site, I'll get rid of it. Although it would mean a lot of wasted time having to take back all the postings lol.

Somewhat off-topic but I will be taking the site off-line for monthly maintenance sometime later tonight/early Thursday morning (moving threads around, deleting threads I no longer feel relevant to the forum, etc.). I used to be able to do this while everyone was still online, but there's too many threads now and it would be too distracting for anyone trying to read. So once every month I will probably be doing this. I think we can survive a few hours without amwfans.com, although we've now gone three or so years without AMW itself.

If it's only a matter of hours on the month, I'm open to it. If it will clear up space and speed up the connections to the site, all the better.

Like I said, it's an experiment. A lot of changes I made people eventually liked. Some things I tinkered with but didn't keep. If anyone else feels they are starting to "not feel" the new format of putting most wanted list fugitives in with the regular fugitives and wants to go back to the old way, please let me know here or in private.

Somewhat having nothing to do with suggestions but I have curiosity- and I do warn I'm bad at math- but I counted a total of 675 fugitives on our site- this is the tv and non-tv (exclusives) sections combined. I actually thought we'd have more but that's a lot!
