As a native New Yorker, I think one problem with catching Said if he is in NYC is I'm not trying to sound racist- but a lot of the cab drivers look like Said. I think I've had two or three guys with the same look- older Arab or Middle-Eastern men with sunglasses on, and even one that looked exactly like Said when I was in D.C.
It should also be noted that the Price of Honor film thinks Said may still be in Texas and even still in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Bill Warner is a P.I. and his blog is sometime a bit sensational and speculative (the psychic claims that Jason Derek Brown is leading an underground sex trade we discussed in his thread I found out is from Warner's blog), but his work was respected enough by the FBI that they put a billboard of him in NYC before anywhere else and a lot of what we found out from him was not revealed beforehand.
The Price of Honor is an award-winning independent documentary where although I haven't seen the movie, appears to have uncovered new things as well.
Both Warner and the filmmakers have done solid work that should be respected, so I think both avenues (New York should be looked at.

I just hope that Said's The Hunt profile will be at least almost as good as his AMW profile. Does anyone else remember the end of the reenactment airing on the Most Wanted Fugitives of 2008 episode where Walsh stands in the AMW crime center surrounded by photos of Sarah and Anima Said?

I don't remember that. I do remember Walsh essentially giving it away that Said would be his #1 fugitive at the end of the year in the airing before the top 10 one (he said something like he's earned a special place on my list).
Because The Hunt expands profiles- it gives leeway for a lot more info on Said that was revealed by Bill Warner and the Price of Honor film- his sister wanted for kidnapping, the sexual abuse allegations, being wanted for another murder in Egypt, etc...

I remember what they used to do was pan upward from the taxi where Sarah and Amina were killed, and after her 911 call was played, John Walsh would start his narration again. The camera would then pan down and show John speaking. Because the sky was blue, it seemed like a seamless transition.

I'd like to see information on Ghada Said on Yaser's profile as well - some speculate they could be together, particularly considering photos of her were found at Yaser's pre-fugitive residence. Ghada has been on the run for approximately 16 years now (since 1999); I wonder if the photos found at Yaser's house were determined to have been taken after she disappeared (with her two children she allegedly kidnapped). While it's typical for family members to have photos of each other, if the photos were taken after Ghada became a fugitive then it would indicate that Yaser may have been aware of her whereabouts before he himself became a fugitive.

Said's profile looks like it will take up the whole hour. Hopefully they cover that. This is one case where I actually feel like even an hour can't cover it all. (But thankfully, the Price of Honor documentary I'm assumign is longer).

One thing I didn't realize before about Yaser is that he appears to be a big hookah smoker - there are numerous photos of him doing this. I believe that should be mentioned when people are profiling him as well.

There is now an article on CNN about Yaser Said with video clips for the upcoming airing. Looks like a good episode based on the preview- bringing my back all my feelings from watching the case on AMW over the years already. I do have one minor criticism here and that is it doesn't appear they want to touch the "honor killing" route. Or at least the article doesn't mention honor killing. We've yet to see if the actual airing will. I have said time and time again most religions are well meaning and Yaser Said is not what his religion taught him, but rather he used it as an excuse to commit cold-blooded murder the same way terrorists use religion as an excuse to carry out bombings, mass murders, etc... But let's be real here. This was an honor killing. "The Price of Honor" seems to be the only people to just flat out say it. With that being said, it looks like the CNN show will reveal some new details. John Walsh mentions exactly how Sarah and Amina were shot, I'd rather not go into detail here but it's on the video. To be fair, John Walsh didn't really mention it being an "honor killing" either. At the tail-end of the profile, he said that some in the media were referring to it that way, then followed up by saying it was anything but honorable.

John Walsh was just on Erin Burnett's show and she referenced that this murder may have been a "Honour Killing".

Ok, saw the interview. Find it interesting JW thinks Said's in Egypt. And despite that, he still seems hopeful even if that were the case Said can still be captured and sent back here since Egypt would want to "send a message" in the wake of it's ongoing violence. Bill Warner, the PI who figured out Said's Westchester, NY P.O. Box and alerted the public to other items such as the possibility of him living with his sister Ghada Said, believes he's in NYC driving a cab. The Price of Honor believes he may still be in Texas. So it is interesting three different sets of people with passion for capturing this guy but also a vast knowledge of the case all have a difference of opinion as to where he is. Just so I can play devil's advocate, I'll put Toronto, Ontario in Canada in the prediction pool since the other locations were already taken.  Let's hope he's captured so we can see who was right. |

Ok, to get the discussion going since today is his airing, perhaps we'll change our minds after The Hunt, but where do YOU personally think Said is? Texas? New York? Egypt? Elsewhere? This is also a bit of a fugitive sleuthing board and there is no wrong answer here so sleuth away. |

Except for the Middle East, northeast of Egypt, I think you've listed all the likely locations.
Also, I want to stress that, as similarly as Said's crime may be to a SW Asian "honor killing", he might've had multiple motives that he never cited for the murders. Throughout the past 3/4 decade, I was under the impression that Yaser knew that law enforcement would soon find out he sexually assaulted his daughters when they were younger, and may have also wanted to prevent his daughters from coming forward to the national media, and also buy himself some time to flee before the outside world knew of his sex offences.
In fact, I'm afraid of Yaser enough to say this: Any given person might've walked past him in an American diner, a hookah lounge, a taxi office, or wherever, without even knowing it, and they were in grave danger just being near him. And any young girl who lives anywhere near him is in even greater danger of being abused.
