Oh wow, I knew from Pakman a man who claimed to be Fisher called the hotline, but didn't know THAT's what he said.
The one thing that would lead me to believe it wasn't Fisher though is that he didn't mention his children. I would imagine a guy like Fisher possibly saying "I'm glad I killed the bitch" but I felt he would have added something about his kids, whether it would be an apology for "having" to kill them also (in his own sick mind), or no apology and just a sick justification. I would find it weird if Fisher would mention his wife and only his wife.
Appalachia is a good guess, I also feel since the I-95 goes far down South, the opposite direction is a possibility too, to Florida, and I remember there were rumors he could possibly hide out in a small town called Grand Isle, Louisiana.

Yeah, I remember seeing that the caller said that on a website when I was Googling Fisher a while back. Not sure if the page is still active, but it stated that someone called the hotline and said that and authorities "suspected" that it may have been him. I'm thinking that perhaps if it was him he wanted to keep it brief and mentally glossed over his kids as collateral damage.
Grand Isle...if my mind serves me correctly, that's also one of the places authorities suspected that Whitey Bulger may have been hiding. I could be wrong on that, but if so then it was another town in Louisiana.

Grand Isle is also on the archive for Fisher for possible locations. I think I vaugely recall Louisana was mentioned as a possible location for Bulger also.
I wonder if they have somehow a recording of Fisher's voice. I doubt it since AMW didn't trace calls.
Whether the guy was Fisher or not, unfortunately he has been right so far...

I found the article- apparently there is a record of where the man called from- a pizza shop, despite AMW not usually tracing calls (perhaps by that they mean tipsters' calls- not guys who call the hotline and claim to be murder suspects) As mentioned, there seems to be split opinions on whether the man was Fisher. Some think it may have been him and the timing (a week after the show, not the night of (where a prank call would have been more likely) is curious. Others think it didn't fit his MO to be that cocky. Ironically, the article has something that may interest me even more since I don't think this has been discussed too often: "Scottsdale police have also learned that Fisher had a rider put on his car insurance allowing travel in Mexico shortly before the murders. The family was not known to have made prior trips to Mexico." archive.azcentral.com/specials/special22/articles/0406fisher06.html

I do remember hearing about the Mexico issue from that article and I think others, although I forgot exactly what it related to. Honestly, I think there are tons of American fugitives in Mexico (not that that isn't common knowledge), even some notorious long-running most-wanted types. I remember reading that people thought Randy Yager was in Europe, and instead he turned up not that far "south of the border." It wouldn't surprise me if some aren't commingling with Mexican gangs...not saying that I think Fisher is necessarily, but it's a possibility.

Oh yeah anything is possible. Especially after 14 years (and counting) on the run.

Ok, so I've discussed this case before and I know this is a reversal of mine but I am now of the belief Fisher is alive. For a few reasons.
1. Fisher's dog was not with him. Dogs never leave their owners side so you'd think if he killed himself the dog would be there. (Shane Miller's dog wasn't with him either, but who knows, maybe the dog got spooked by something and had to run away).
2. Fisher was seen withdrawing money from an ATM the night of the murders. Granted, it was only $280 dollars but enough to get him by for the time being.
3. The man claiming to be Fisher called the AMW hotline a week AFTER his tv airing. You'd think a prankster would call the night of. And the more I think of it, the more I think a guy saying "I'm glad I killed the bitch" while neglecting to mention his kids might actually be something only Fisher would do. A prank caller might have pretended to be a little more crazy and mentioned the kids as well. Not to mention, it seems Detectives had *some* reason for thinking it might be Fisher.
The capture of financial fugitive James Hammes also gives more credence to vigilanti's theory that Fisher could be hiking the Appalachian trail. Hammes managed to stay on the run for six years doing that before being caught in Manassas, Virginia. There hikers and such go to festivals and are known by "trail names." So it would be pretty easy for Fisher to hide his identity.
While it's entirely possible that Fisher, despite being a survivalist, succumbed to the elements in some way. But I do think his initial plan was to run and hide.
I keep going back and forth and this and it is a great debate. So currently I'm of the opinion he's alive lol. We'll never know unless the FBI finds him or his body.

Anybody else know if there are any other videos or anything where you can hear his voice? I really think that there should be released recordings of all top tenners (and other fugitives) voices. You never know how much it would help.

And wouldn't putting the rider on his insurance sort of defeat the purpose if he was planning on going on the run under an assumed identity?

At work right now so I'll have to watch the video again at home.
As far as the rider on his insurance, I'm assuming this was before the murders? Maybe he didn't know he was going to kill his family just yet. Was planning on it, hesitated, but finally went through with it.

Or maybe he did go down to Mexico and he did keep his real identity, But has changed his appearance so drastically that no one would possibly think it was him? Or possibly even he did very little to change his identity or his appearance, but has just been flat out lucky? You just really never know.

Who knows. Of course I want justice as well. But the other thing that frustrates me about long-time unresolved fugitive cases is my curiosity wants to be satisfied. It would be so interesting to see where all these guys, especially on the FBI'S Top 10 list, ended up.

No new updates, just bumping this up to mention Crime Watch Daily did a brief mention of Fisher on the end of their debut episode.

Apparently, the FBI had "Deceased" over Fisher's photo for like a brief 5 seconds in 2013. If you look at the visitor posts on this Facebook page devoted to capturing Robert Fisher, and scroll down you'll see someone post the screen-grab: www.facebook.com/pages/Capture-Robert-William-Fisher/229656217069292?sk=timelineObviously, that deceased stamp didn't last long but I do wonder why it was there in the first place. Also, from another find Robert Fisher website, I found the original wanted poster which lists Fisher's social security number 527-55-6200. According to a SS validation site, it was issued in 1975 in Arizona. Fisher was born in 1961. So even though he was born in Brooklyn, he apparently moved to Arizona at age 14 if not earlier. Also says no death records as of 2014 for the number. fbimostwanted.us/zc/images/poster942.jpg(P.S. Any of these find Fisher Facebook sites yours vigilanti? Just wondering )

The Deceased sticker could have been a number of things. It could be as simple as a computer foul-up, or maybe a lead that the FBI really believed proved his death, but were soon proven wrong? Two most likely scenarios. I'd like to think that it wasn't a hacking issue. But I love that we are uncovering more things about Fisher! First step to finding him.
