Ok so I FINALLY saw the "Where is Robert Fisher?" documentary from 2011. It's no longer available on YouTube due to copyright infringement but is free if you have Amazon Prime.
www.imdb.com/title/tt2042712/The documentary has received mixed reviews online. One aspect I find ridiculous is for some reason they interview a psychic at the end (who predicts Fisher will be captured in a foreign country in November 2012 and extradited back to the U.S. in January 2013, thus proving why most psychics are b.s.), and it was a bit disappointing they interviewed a lot of journalists and reporters and PI's but not more of the people Fisher knew (co-workers, friends etc..), but I still felt there was some good information/details we may have not discussed or even if we have discussed them it's good from a sleuthing aspect to look at these angles again (sorry this will be a lengthy post):
-One thing I did find interesting is how similar Fisher and Jason Derek Brown's cases are initially in retrospect despite being entirely different types of crimes. Scottsdale P.D. detectives actually didn't want word to get out that they were investigating Mary Bobby and Brittany Fisher's deaths as a triple homicide and Fisher as a suspect, hoping that while he was still referred to as "missing" on the news he would come back and ask what happened. Somehow it got leaked to the media anyway that Fisher was a suspect, ensuring he would go on the run even if he never planned on coming back anyway.
-A former neighbor perhaps gives the most interesting details. He says Fisher was smart but not quick in conversations, and that talking to him was like analyzing every word you said. As mentioned on The Hunt with John Walsh, the neighbor says Mary was always yelling at Fisher that she could have done better and even though he was always cocky and arrogant towards the end he seemed tired.
Perhaps what's most interesting in the neighbor was actually called up to Canada (the town of White Rock in British Columbia) when police thought they had Fisher in custody. The neighbor was supposed to pretend to be an inmate and claims he locked eyes with Fisher and knew it was him- had Fisher's voice, same gold bicuspid tooth and mannerisms and according to the neighbor gave him a "what the hell are you doing here?" look. The neighbor is still insistent to this day that the man was Fisher. He thinks Fisher being a nurse could have altered his fingerprints. the Detective interviewed says that's far-fetched and one can try but no one can ever truly alter their fingerprints. The man was someone with a criminal history, but not Fisher. (the man's mother was even brought in to confirm he wasn't Fisher).
-It's alleged that friends wouldn't go hunting with Fisher because he was too extreme. (we've probably seen the photo before of Fisher's smeared elk blood on his face). Robert's sister (same one who was interviewed on The Hunt) says some of the rumors about him were exaggerated and he was a regular person although she admits he did have a controlling personality.
-The reason Fisher only took out $280 from the ATM is perhaps because it may have been the max allowed. Fisher had tons of assets but it seems he may not have planned a run. So the paltry amount can perhaps just be explained by him not planning to kill his wife and children weeks in advance and had he done so he probably would have had more money on the run with him.
-They actually mention tow trucker driver may have helped pull Fisher out of a ditch near the caves in Tonto and that he was never located.
-I'm not sure if they meant before or after (this may have been before the homicides), that there is a diner in the small town of rye (which you need to pass through on Route 87 in order to get from Phoenix to Payson), a man came in ordered a drink, a female left the bathroom and they seemed to be arguing. The man kept his face hidden. Later, a female rings on a resident's doorbell to ask to call a cab for her since her boyfriend dumped her. Although this may be rumor, the man resembled Fisher and was possibly a woman he was unfaithful to Mary with. (Robert Fisher's sister disputes this)
What even Robert's sister doesn't seem to argue is that he had sex with a masseuse while still married. It is rumored he may have contracted a urinary tract disease from the sexual relationship.
-As far as the dead vs. alive debate, there seemed to be 30 caves within the main ones looked. The initial search would be called off due to rain and snow conditions. A journalist who believed Fisher to be dead says that the Scottsdale SWAT team were the initial searchers and were not trained properly, and only searched the square mile around the truck. He thinks animals may have pretty much taken care of Fisher's remains and all that can be found one day are the rusty remains of a handgun.
People on the alive debate in regards to the Tonto National Forest mention the truck being completely wiped clean and besides a coffee cup with Fisher's fingerprint. They indicate even if Fisher couldn't have been found, that SOMETHING related to him would have been found had he killed himself in the forest- a gun, gun residue, clothing etc... Not to mention, none of Fisher's clothes were found in his home indicating he took clothes with him.
As far as living in the woods, although Fisher was known to friends to be an excellent outdoorsmen, detectives and the FBI agent interviewed describe him as a talker and exaggerater who may not have been as survivalist as he claimed to be.
-The Detective interviewed doesn't believe it was Fisher who called America's Most Wanted, saying why would he give them a lead.
-The initial lead Detective on the Fisher case, who sadly passed away in 2006, believed Fisher was alive and living south of the border.
-There was apparently multiple possible sightings of Fisher in Grand Isle, Louisiana from people who didn't know each other, which is why to this day it seems to be one of the more intriguing leads on Fisher's possible whereabouts.
The FBI agent interviewed (Robert Caldwell) says that they were never able to locate the subject in the Guatemala lead (that yelled at the tourist not to take his photo and that he's killed in the past)
-A doctor who worked with Fisher thought he saw him in Brazil, in a car and took off. (Quick sighting) The FBI agent says because Fisher has such a common look to him, it could have just been a look-a-like. (The FBI in 2011 at least would receive 4-5 tips a day on Fisher and most turn out to be really good-a-likes, but they still need people calling regardless in the hopes that one day it will be him).
