(Above photo credit: unsolved.com) Fugitive Profile as of January 12th, 2015 (based on FBI.gov wanted poster): Date(s) of Birth Used: November 10, 1962 Place of Birth: Rhode Island Height: 6'1" Weight: 175 pounds Occupations: Purchasing Agent, Worker in a Plastics Company Hair: Brown Eyes: Blue Sex: Male Race: White Nationality: American Remarks: Emery may travel to Florida or Italy. TIPS: If you have any information concerning this person, please contact your local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate. (You can also submit a web to to tips.fbi.gov )Cold case fugitive Adam Emery was aired on Unsolved Mysteries on October 14th, 1994. According to Unsolved wiki, he has also aired on America's Most Wanted and Dateline NBC although I don't know their exact dates. In 1993, Adam Emery, then 31, was tried and convicted of second degree murder in the 1990 stabbing death of Jason Bass, 20, in Warwick, Rhode Island. Emery mistakenly believed that Jason sideswiped his car as he, his wife Elena, and another couple were sitting in it at a roadside food stand. He then tracked Jason's case car down yelling about the damage. jason tried to get away but Emery stabbed him in the heart, killing him. Emery was said to be strangely emotionless in court maintaining that he "had to defend himself." The day he was convicted, he and Elena vanished. Their abandoned car was found on the Newport Bridge where they are believed to have jumped to their deaths. Because no trace of Adam has ever surfaced, some believe that he faked his death and that he is somewhere very much alive, but common sense dictates that he is dead since Elena's remains were found in the water near the bridge and were definitively identified through DNA testing. There are strong pieces of evidence that Adam and his wife were planning to commit suicide. Elena purchased 80 pounds of weights, sweatsuits, and athletic socks at a sporting goods store barely a half hour after the verdict was read, something she would not be thinking about at such a time without some motivation of some kind. Another clue that they planned their suicides is that she could be seen mouthing the words, "We're gonna do what we originally planned. You promised me." to Adam in a video taken in court right after the verdict. Some think the cryptic words mean that they had planned to commit suicide all along if he was found guilty. Adam Emery was declared legally deceased by a judge in 2004. Despite this the FBI mysteriously re-added Emery to their most wanted fugitives list (that is overall list, not the top 10 to clear any confusion) back in 2010. Thoughts? First minor note: 1994 is the wanted date since that's when the federal warrant was issued. Anyway, obviously the fact that Elena did commit suicide means Adam could have as well. However, his body has never been found. And there was a similar case with a suicide pact with US Marshals Top 15 fugitive Randy Yager last year. Him and his missing girlfriend Margie Jelovcic were said to have a suicide pact. But when they were finally tracked down after 17 years in hiding only Jelovcic tried to flee- and shot herself during a pursuit. It could be possible Emery's wife went first in jumping, and Adam like a coward didn't honor their agreement. I also find it rather mysterious the FBI re-added him in 2010. It makes me wonder if they received information they couldn't let out in public that Adam Emery may very well be alive. unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Adam_Emerywww.fbi.gov/wanted/murders/adam-c.-emery/viewwww.turnto10.com/story/21111817/presumed-dead-emery-back-on-fbi-listAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I seem to recall once reading an article through Google News Archive mentioning that Emery was aired around January 1994, however the news archive feature was changed awhile back and I can no longer locate the article.
It must be insanely frustrating with publicizing a fugitive that could be dead. You don't know if the fugitive is dead and if he/she is, then you're profiling someone who isn't going to be recognized. However, if they're alive, then not profiling them may allow them to get away with their crimes.

It's been 22/23 years and this case takes the cake when it comes to asking yourself "what the heck may have happened?"
Now I feel Adam likely broke the pact he had with his wife Elena, as a way to start over with a clean slate like Robert Fisher.
Though very unlikely I think Emery's best bet is to be placed on the Ten most wanted list sometime in 2017 if there is any room for him to squeeze on in since this is one case that could benefit from the publicity and actually find Emery alive somewhere.

While the FBI did add Brad Bishop I think they would only add a fugitive on the run for two decades or longer if a long-time got caught. (For instance if Brad Bishop was caught or found dead, that could be the unofficial "cold case" spot).
I think James Comey realized the list was starting to become stagnant with hard to catch fugitives and his latest additions seem to indicate he will stick with more recent cases for the considerable future.
It is weird that Emery was off and then later back on the FBI site and I feel there has to be a reason for it.

Well he was actually declared dead so that must have been why they removed him.
Also there is going to be some new images (age progressed photos) coming out soon to let the world look at Emery and how they may look.

Yeah but legally deceased is often a technicality for legal reasons. A Judge makes a decision in order to divide assets for the missing family members or some reason like that.
Didnt know age-progressed photos were coming and I'm looking forward to them.

Queries: Were there any solid proofs and evidences regarding the skelettal remains confirming that the body found is really Adam Emery? Also on which grounds was he decleared dead? Why was never an age enhanced sketch been made, published in the local newspapers and shown on local tv chanels ? I am of the same opinion than Scumhunter, Emery is certainly alive and living somewhere under a false identity

The FBI is apparently doing a new publicity effort in Florida because of the possibility Emery may be hiding out there. Also, I read articles from last year saying they were working on an age-enhanced photo. Why it's nearly a year later and still no age-enhanced photo on the fbi.gov profile page though itself is not a question I can answer. miami.cbslocal.com/2017/01/02/wanted-by-fbi-man-in-murder-case-who-may-be-in-florida/

Wow I guess it explains why the FBI tweeted his fugitive profile earlier today. I really want to know also what ever happened with those age progressed images of Emery. They said an article in April 2016 that they were working on new images and as Scumhunter said, still nothing.
I think they are possibly creating a bust just like the one they made for Brad Bishop in 2014, which is why it's taken this long since they need to talk to artists and all this other stuff, which takes awhile.

I know I've pointed this out almost a year ago and I discussed this on my last podcast on cold case candidates, but with Robert Van Wisse listed as captured, the FBI may be considering many 80s and 90s cold cases including Adam Emery. Emery is only 54 and is the same age as Robert Fisher. Earlier this year investigators alleged that he was probably in Florida and based on that it's a possibility that may land Emery on the top ten, but again there's other cold cases that are deserving. vimeo.com/208771253

I think that Emory is almost certainly dead. The odds of Elena jumping and Adam not doing so seem slim.

I think that Emory is almost certainly dead. The odds of Elena jumping and Adam not doing so seem slim. Where as it may be a plausible theory, what it all comes down to is how much did Adam really love Elena, I tend to think he never jumped and deceived his own wife by either not jumping with her or pushing her, which makes him complicit in the death of his wife. Then again there really is no evidence if he’s dead or not. The stress of already being convicted and facing a significant sentence for it may be a reason why Adam may have wanted a clean slate, which is another theory why only his wife Elena’s remains were found and not his. Also I think the reason Emery was readded in 2010 was because they probably reassessed the case and felt there was a good possibility he was alive. They were going to make age progressed images of him 2 years ago and still nothing and right now he would be 55 years old today as of this posting.
