Photo Credits: wvtm13.com via Lauderdale County (Alabama) Sheriff's Office) From wvtm13.com: LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. — A search is underway in north Alabama after a man charged with capital murder and a deputy transporting him to court went missing Friday morning. Learn more in the video above. Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office employee Vicki White, who is the assistant director of corrections, and inmate Casey Cole White have not been seen since 9:30 a.m. Friday when they allegedly left for the county courthouse. The sheriff's office said the deputy and suspect are not related. The marked vehicle that the two left the detention center in was located in the parking lot of a shopping center in Florence around 11 a.m. Friday. Their current direction of travel is unknown, and investigators are looking for video footage that may give more information. In a news conference Friday evening, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Officer White, an employee of 25 years, told the booking officer at the detention center that she was escorting inmate White to the courthouse for a mental health evaluation. After dropping the inmate off with other deputies, Officer White said she planned to seek medical attention for herself because she wasn't feeling well. Around 3:30 p.m., the booking officer attempted to contact Officer White, but her phone was going straight to voicemail. It was also discovered that inmate White never returned to the jail. The sheriff said they began investigating "aggressively." Officials said the officer and the inmate never showed up to the courthouse, and it has since been determined that the inmate did not have any evaluations scheduled. Local urgent care offices also have no record of Officer White visiting on Friday. The sheriff noted it's a "strict violation of policy" for inmates with those types of charges to be escorted anywhere by one deputy. Still, they believe Officer White wasn't questioned because she is the head of operations and coordinates all transports. "Knowing the inmate, I think [Officer White] is in danger whatever the circumstances," Singleton said. "He was in jail for capital murder. He has nothing to lose." According to court documents, Casey White's capital murder charge stems from the "brutal death" of Connie Ridgeway at her Rogersville home in 2015. The capital murder charge also includes first-degree burglary. "Did she assist him in escaping? That's obviously a possibility," Singleton said. "So we're looking into that as one angle of the investigation — was she kidnapped en route to the courthouse and, you know, taken against her will?" If anyone sees the suspect or Officer White, do not approach them and contact 911 immediately. Thoughts? Based on the above article's posting date, Casey White was still at large and Officer White was still unaccounted for at least as of April 30th, 2022. For us longtime AMW fans, I'm sure we feel like this is the Randy Dial case all over again. A warrant has been issued for Vicky as well. I assumed she was an alleged willing participant but didn't want to violate our site policy until official word.
So yeah scratch Randy Dial as this is now more similar to the Richard Matt and David Sweat manhunt.

P.S. Articles keep spelling Officer White's name as both Vicki and Vicky. If anyone knows for sure the correct spelling for our headlines it would be appreciated.

What I don't get about Officer White- is why she allegedly helped Casey when she was going to retire in like a week anyway.
Also knowing he allegedly brutally murdered a woman around the same age group as her.
I know love is blind, but this is especially dumb.

Not the first time we've seen this story where someone who is lonely or vulnerable falls for a predator and helps them escape. At the end of the day though, Vicky wasn't forced to help this monster escape, she chose to do so and if she survives, I hope the full weight of the law is brought down on here and that Casey never sees the light of day again.

It seems Casey and Vicky had been in a relationship for 2 years prior to the escape, which is approximately around the same time the initial COVID-19 lockdowns in the United States first happened If the article gave an actual timeline of when it actually began according to investigators. As to whether I believe Vicky is in danger in being with Casey….. no and yes, after having been in a relationship with someone especially for that amount of time, there’s obviously going to be some sort of attachment, but then again, Casey could be one of those cold and calculating types that is willing to go on with a charade of having a relationship with Vicky only to be able to escape from prison and at the end of the day Casey White is a prisoner, for a crime that will basically put him away for the rest of his life. That said, with Vicky, yes she broke the law, but Casey White is going to be really unpredictable, as we don’t know if he’s got something planned to have her as a possible hostage or accomplice, especially being a prison inmate with nothing to lose. www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/05/05/missing-inmate-alabama-officer-relationship/9658170002/

Even though she's decided to enter "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" territory, I also wouldn't condone any physical harm done to her, so hopefully she's arrested alive and gets adequate punishment for her alleged help in the escape.
