It seems Casey and Vicky had been in a relationship for 2 years prior to the escape, which is approximately around the same time the initial COVID-19 lockdowns in the United States first happened If the article gave an actual timeline of when it actually began according to investigators. As to whether I believe Vicky is in danger in being with Casey….. no and yes, after having been in a relationship with someone especially for that amount of time, there’s obviously going to be some sort of attachment, but then again, Casey could be one of those cold and calculating types that is willing to go on with a charade of having a relationship with Vicky only to be able to escape from prison and at the end of the day Casey White is a prisoner, for a crime that will basically put him away for the rest of his life. That said, with Vicky, yes she broke the law, but Casey White is going to be really unpredictable, as we don’t know if he’s got something planned to have her as a possible hostage or accomplice, especially being a prison inmate with nothing to lose. www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/05/05/missing-inmate-alabama-officer-relationship/9658170002/She's in danger, regardless of how much they get along, Casey's an alleged confessed killer who can snap at any moment or she can be killed even incidentally (hopefully it doesn't happen but if Casey gets into a shootout with police, even a high speed chase could cause a crash and kill her). Even though she's decided to enter "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" territory, I also wouldn't condone any physical harm done to her, so hopefully she's arrested alive and gets adequate punishment for her alleged help in the escape. My words apparently prophetic as Vicky White has been hospitalized after their car crash following a chase. (Still don't wish death upon her, hope to see her pull through so she can be punished if proven guilty and explain why she allegedly helped a murder suspect). |

Glad to see they've been caught and sadly not surprised that Casey had no qualms about putting Vicky's life in danger.
She was nothing more then a pawn and it's a shame she choose to let herself be manipulated by him.
Like you, I she pulls through and explains why she did what did before paying the consequences for her crime.
And may Casey never see freedom again.

Maybe she realized how badly she screwed up her life and doesn't want to face what's coming.

Least important part of all this, but I changed the thread title back to Casey White since it would be otherwise confusing to see captured when one of them is deceased and captured/deceased would be confusing as well.
It's interesting and I'm torn how to feel as to Officer White's death. On one hand, she knew what Casey White allegedly did, knew there were families waiting for justice, and with no consideration for them chose to help him escape. On the other hand, to see someone throw their life away when they were so close to retirement after decades of I'm assuming to be an honorable reputation and serving honorably, is quite sad. It's also quite possible that Casey White was a master manipulator the way Randy Yeager allegedly Margie Jelovcic. So instead of no sympathy, I guess I'm somewhere in the medium-sympathy range unlike other cases. Tbh, I usually know how to feel, but in this case, it's complicated.
It is unfortunate though since she would obviously be alive if not for Casey White's escape, so he is now basically responsible for the deaths of two people.

I also wanted to add Connie Ridgeway's family was quoted in articles as fearing White would die in a police shootout. They wanted him alive so they could face him during trial and get answers from him as to why he allegedly took her away from them. So I know some people would have wanted him to go to also, but for Connie's family's sake, I'm glad they'll hopefully see him held accountable and have to rot in prison instead.

I think of AMW cases(direct captures too) like Elizabeth Hentz, Pamala Trible and Anita Kay Vestal among others where you can see where people who were vulnerable were preyed on by predators who saw weakness a mile away and I do feel for them to a degree. In the same breath, they still made their choices and those choices put countless others at risk by letting dangerous killers get out onto the streets again. I do believe Vicky was preyed upon by a master manipulator and I feel sad in a way for the outcome but at the end of the day, we all make our choices and Vicky made the wrong ones. As for Casey, I hope he enjoyed his few days of freedom because he is unlikely to ever see freedom again and rightfully so. |

I normally don't like to spend too much time on these guys once they're captured until there's a trial and result but thought it was relatively noteworthy that apparently Casey referred to Vicky as his wife, asked for help since she shot herself and mentioned "I didn't do it." Well, here's the thing: if he is saying he didn't do it, should they even take him at his word? I hope the medical examiner checks her hands for gunshot residue to determine if she really did commit suicide. It's alleged that Casey White has killed before: who is to say there isn't a second victim here?
