It's a fair point but I feel they would have been able to determine rather quickly if they suspected Casey shot Vicky.
And Vicky either not wanting to live with her shame or killing herself thinking this was some kind of Thelma & Louise love pact makes sense.

I’m glad Casey White has been recaptured, but It’s a sad way to go out for Vicky White.
Reiterating what Scumhunter had stated, Vicky White could’ve retired from her career in corrections with respect and honor for her years of service, but instead she made a series of poor choices, starting with having a special relationship with an inmate, someone who your paid and trusted to keep incarcerated, but then we don’t know what her side of the story is nor is she around anymore to defend herself.
Vicky may have been manipulated out of love by Casey White to go retirement, sell her house, literally give up the life she had so Casey can escape and ultimately he can get recaptured and Vicky white ended her life in shame, and the nightmare it is to be in prison or jail as an ex corrections officer. This manipulation isn’t just special to this case, as it happens in other cases more specifically with domestic violence/abuse cases and sadly this is the tragic ingredient in domestic violence murder cases, and also this manipulation is common in the real world.
I personally feel bad for Vicky White because the series of mistakes she made that led to her ending her own life, and sadly it comes to down to this being out of love and because of love people will often make bad miscalculated decisions…. because love is blind when your attached.

I feel sympathy for her to a degree but at the end of the day, her bad choices didn't just affect her, they put other lives at risk especially Casey's ex and her sister, both of whom had to get police protection. Shame that her life ended the way it did but she wasn't forced to make the choices she did and my sympathy can only go so far.

I think he's a scumbag but I have a hard time seeing a murder charge stick here. At the end of the day, he didn't force her to do any of the things she did, including shooting herself which is what led to her death.

The death didn’t even happen in Alabama’s jurisdiction. Her death occurred in Indiana. The argument could be made by his attorneys that the felony escape was completed when he fled from Alabama’s borders. The thing is, he was indicted on this charge. A grand jury found enough evidence to take this to trial. His best hope is that the Judge throws the charge out before it gets to the jury at trial.
