Glad to see that monster died behind bars and will never be able to hurt anyone again.

There is no justice sometimes.

Perhaps he realized(unlike the other judges) that setting case law that child predators could flee to the U.K. wasn't the smartest idea.

I have a feeling the parole board has gotten a lot of calls since this story came out. Hopefully it will make them reconsider.

I agree with you. She could have saved Elizabeth from the hell she went through so many different times but chose not to. The only way she should be leaving prison is in a body bag, not parole.

According to Wade Angel on the Find Chris Ponce Facebook page, Ponce could actually be eligible for parole in 11 years. However, if he violates parole, he will be sent back to prison for another 20 years. Although it's less than what he wanted, he accepts the plea deal. Under Florida law, inmates have to serve 85% of their sentences before they can be eligible for release. There actually is no parole in Florida so after he does 85%, it will be the Florida Department of Corrections call with gain time to decide when to release him. As for the probation term, if he violates it, it will be the judge's call how much time he'll get. Thankfully though, that issue won't have to be dealt with for another 11 years at least. I too would have liked more time but I knew that when there was a word of a deal brewing, he wasn't going to get the max sentence he could have gotten. Just how the system works in most plea deals. Having said that, he did get the max for DUI manslaughter and his probation will give him a chance to see if he truly meant what he said when he gets out. I will say this, it did look like it finally dawned on him what he's in for and that if he had shown true remorse and plead guilty when this crash happened,he could have gotten probation or lesser jail time then what he's facing now along with forgiveness from William's family. He threw that away and instead will be spending the rest of his 20's and a lot of his 30's in prison. And he has no one but himself to blame for that.

The sentence was just handed down. 15 years in prison (which means he won't be out until 2030 at the earliest) for the DUI manslaughter of William Angel, 10 years probation for the injuries to the two other victims and he can never drive again. Not the max time in prison that he could have gotten but overall, much better sentence then many of these DUI killers get. Now William's family can mourn their loss and no longer have to deal with his killer. Wish the best for them going forward.

Watching tweets from the sentencing and Ponce is tearfully apologizing to William's family and asking for forgiveness. IMO, it's all crocodile tears. If he had been truly sorry for what he had done, he would have plead guilty and faced the consequences for his actions a long time ago, not gone on the run for three years and prolonging the legal torture for everyone involved. He's sorry he was caught and nothing more and hopefully the judge sees that.

Ponce is going to plead guilty and it looks like it will be an open plea, meaning the judge gets the final say. Here's hoping he gets close to the 25-35 years he can get for what he did.

While I do think it stinks before he served a lengthy amount of time, at least his last days were spent behind bars.

Glad to hear justice is being served. May this be the trend of other Brazilian fugitives from the U.S. and around the world being brought to justice for their crimes.

Glad to see this capture finally happened but it's still bittersweet given that Tammy is still missing. I hope Greer does the right thing and gives Tammy's family a body to bury.

I find it hilarious that according to the article, Daniel told a confidential information that he was wanted, and as a result that tip led to his arrest. In a way, that's not surprising. The longer you are on the run, the more confident you become that you'll never get caught and the more arrogant you'll become. Thus, you'll end up doing something really stupid like telling people you're wanted for murder and next thing you know, you're life on the run is over.
