An article about the 30th anniversary of the National Center for Missing And Exploited Children in Las Vegas features the following paragraph: "John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted show will be a special guest in the celebration. He shared the news that he has a new T.V. show coming out in May which will be tracking down more criminals, with the help of Scotland Yard, making this an international effort." Look, guys, I grew up on AMW. I loved the show, I miss it. But this is the same host, and the same mission. I guess the only question now will be- will this be the "World's Most Wanted"- or something different entirely? This is excellent news! lasvegas.informermg.com/2014/01/25/john-walsh-attends-the-15th-anniversary-of-canon-celebrity-red-carpet/

Of course, I forgot to include the link. LOL. It's now posted. As I said before, my original wish was for AMW to return. But you know what, it's John Walsh tracking down bad guys again. I'll get used to it.

Amazing news! Hopefully this airs on a channel I get here in Canada.
I presume that any fugitives that are aired on this show can have threads on them in the AMW Recent and Cold Case Fugitive subforums?

Amazing news! Hopefully this airs on a channel I get here in Canada. I presume that any fugitives that are aired on this show can have threads on them in the AMW Recent and Cold Case Fugitive subforums? That is something that I was thinking about. My first thought was "this new show is going to make this site really confusing" LOL. This is a problem, but a good problem to have. Actually, the best problem ever. I think we should wait and see for more info as to how to go forward. My thought was and this is obviously not going to be the title of the show- but let's just say for argument's sake- the name of the show is "Walsh's Scumbag Hunt." I assume we can have a section under or above the general AMW forum called "General Walsh's Scumbag Hunt" discussion. And then under or top of the AMW fugitive categories a category for "Walsh's Scumbag Hunt" fugitives- and refer to old fugitives in past tense. Or we can just call everything AMW/Walsh's Scumbag Hunt. (For example, General AMW/Walsh's Scumbag Hunt Discussion, AMW/Walsh's Scumbag Hunt fugitives) I hope that wasn't TOO confusing. We're going to have to figure out a way to work it into this site, and we will need to "worry" about this apparently soon, but I think we should wait until more news comes about about the title and what the show entails before we decide on any changes for the site. As for what channel, this is just speculation on my part, but Walsh seems to have a great relationship with CNN and they seemed to be the channel that came the closest to reviving AMW. I know you receive CNN so that would be good. I hope for your sake it's a channel available in Canada as well!

I wished AMW is still on the air, I hoped this new show a spinoff AMW is history it seems. The show costs too much money to produce, largely in part because Fox still owns the rights and charges a lot of money if anyone wants to air it. This show can be called a "Spinoff" I guess but it is in all likelihood going to be AMW's de facto replacement. Let's not knock anything until we see it. You never know. It sounds impossible, but maybe this show will be even better than AMW! I guess another question of mine is what happens if and hopefully when they capture somebody. Will it be AMW/"insert new show name" direct capture #1205 or "New Show Name" #1. I guess we'll find out when it happens. I am looking forward to seeing more and more news on this as the months go by, such as the show name and channel it will be on. I was rooting for AMW itself to make it back too, but not everything lasts forever! We're all going to continue to make a difference with a new show!

I found a new article from yesterday that states this: "America’s Most Wanted” is no longer on the air, but Walsh said he is pitching an international show to CNN." This is a bit contradictory to the Las Vegas article that said the show is debuting in May so this is disappointing. (Unless the pilot is the pitch) I guess it's good nonetheless that Walsh is still fighting to get on the air tracking criminals. And at least we know what the channel will likely be if he gets it on the air. www.theoaklandpress.com/20140129/john-walsh-gov-snyder-address-care-house-fundraiser-in-birmingham

Not too sure if I like that name. It sounds like the "World's Most Wanted" concept but I wonder if Fox would object to a show with "Most Wanted" in its name.

Why would John Walsh pitch ideas to CNN?
Why not a network like Tru TV or Investigative Discovery?
Anything but a cable news show.

Ugh. I knew this was going to happen. No offense guys but I would just be happy to see fugitives on tv again. When AMW was saved (temporarily) by Lifetime, I had the same thoughts as others. Oh no a woman's network, they're going to "Lifetimeize" everything, every case will be a guy who beats his wife, etc. So many people said all that and "go back to Fox" unaware Fox cancelled them. But at the end of the day, what I said was "An odd choice but I will watch AMW no matter the channel and I'm just so happy to have the show back". And as it turned out, even though some cases admittedly were Lifetime-ized, AMW on Lifetime was in my opinion even better than the last few years on Fox. If I had my druthers AMW would be back on Fox or their sister station My Network. If I had my druthers if the show HAD to be on cable I would prefer the ID channel. If I had my druthers if Walsh and company made a new show I'd prefer the show be a national show that's like AMW as opposed to what sounds like the World's Most Wanted concept that I never fully embraced. I'm also concerned about CNN because their ratings are not the same as when they were the only game in town for news channels, but former NBC head Jeff Zucker is still trying to turn it around. But you know what it's fugitives on tv again. MSNBC shows crime shows on the weekend. HLN is still a sort of news channel that has crime shows. It's John Walsh chasing bad guys. Maybe Fox will one day bring AMW back with Elizabeth Smart or another victim's right's advocate hosting it. But as far as any venture from JW is concerned, please give it a chance before poo poo-ing it.

Also realized I never fully answered your question. As far as why JW would pitch to CNN, it is because he's tight with them. He is good friends with the aforementioned former head of NBC Jeff Zucker who is now the head of CNN. John Walsh had his talk show on NBC for years. It never did great in the ratings but Zucker let it go on for years before finally having no choice but to cancel it so that is a good sign I guess. In addition he's also pitching to CNN because it has a broad international reach and it is an international fugitive show. Not even Canada received Lifetime originally. CNN is broadcast all over the world.

So CNN just cancelled Piers Morgan. Any chance of hoping his replacement (s) is not a nightly show and they devote one of those five nights to JW? I wonder if they have a suggestion box!

Great news, JW has OFFICIALLY announced he is starting the new show with CNN soon. Although those of us on this site already knew it was likely happening, nice to hear from the man himself!!! www.facebook.com/johnwalshofficial?ref=br_tf
