Bryan Richard Roser and Kenneth Allen McDuff wipe the floor with their competition, and Round 2 is concluded! And I kick off 2014 with the first match of Round 3
Round 3, Match 1
Adam Ezerski, #679, Ags 17, 2001 A murderer posing as a gay romantic. In late July 2001, he murdered 2 men in Florida and stole one victim's Ford Mustang. In the wake of Andrew Philip Cunanan's murder spree, cops feared he'd be the next Cunanan. After beating a man in San Francisco with a statue, he was busted in Reno, Nevada. Luckily his last victim survived. Video footage showed him with one more murder victim. Investigators feared Ezerski had a 4th casualty, but he was cleared in that man's disappearance. He's now serving 20-25 years in prison, and may be released as soon as 2023.
vs
Charles Herbert "Chaka" Raysor, #899, Ags 7, 2006 A legendary crack gang czar. His underlings have killed 40 people, including children, landlords, rival drug dealers, and one homeless man. He surrendered in Brooklyn, New York, and he broke down in tears, telling them he was tired of his criminal lifestyle and missed his family, and once he knew he was on AMW, that was the final straw. He secured a plea deal with a judge and promised to eventually open a bakery, and his family pled for leniency, so a judge gave him a slap to the wrist and 17 years in prison.
and
Eric "Doc" Franklin Rosser, #680, Ags 21, 2001 A former keyboardist for John Mellencamp on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. From 1995 to 2000, he served as a high-ranking member of an international child porn ring between Indiana and Thailand. He also raped a minimum of 19 girls in Indiana himself. He was busted in Bangkok, Thailand, trying to apply for a job as an English instructor.
vs
Michael Blane Brashar, #763, Spt 30, 2003 John Walsh's #1 most wanted fugitive of 2002. In 1982, he sexually murdered a 20 year old woman named Mary Ann Castille. Less than a month later, he sexually murdered a 14 year old girl named Lisa Dawn Hoag who'd witnessed the previous murder. DNA matches came back throughout the winter of 2001. On October's Eve 2003, he fled from cops after AMW tipsters flushed him out, then he surrendered in Decatur, Alabama. He's since been sentenced to life in prison.
First, my vote goes to Charles Herbert "Chaka" Raysor. The Raysor Gang was among the toughest cases AMW ever solved, the gang was responsible for a ton of murders, and he surrendered in tears after 8 years on the show.
Second, I vote for Brashar. He was among John Walsh's few year-end #1 most wanted fugitives to actually earn the title, and he was wanted for two cold case sexual murders, including one of a child.

Such close calls today!
My first 2014 capture contest vote goes to Raysor in a pun sort of intended- razor-thin margin. Both him and Ezerski were very dangerous fugitives who got much lighter sentences than deserved. But I still remember loving the Raysor capture when it happened- crying in the Brooklyn police precinct because of the AMW pressure! The cops didn't even believe he was really Raysor at first too!
Second was WAY TOO HARD! Normally Brasher would be a lock. Cold case, just a sketch, two victims, one under 18. But, Eric Rosser was infamous. He raped 19 women. He was in an international child porn ring. He was famous and was in John Cougar Mellencamp's band. He was on the FBI top 10 list. I had to flip a coin. My coin came up Rosser. If this winds up in a tie later on, I'll *try* to see whose arguments are most convincing for Rosser or Brasher in order to break it. (Or keep it a tie if I agree more with the Rosser arguments) But right now, it's Rosser by a penny.

My first votes for Raysor, due to the violent nature of his gang, and the numerous profiles of him before his surrender.
Second's tough, but my votes for Brasher, due to the fact that he went almost 20 years on the run, and was still captured after a few profiles.

These votes are pretty hard, but I feel it's more interesting that way.
For the first one, I vote for Raysor since he was the leader of a notorious drug gang that killed dozens of people, and surrendered after eight years of profiles and being put on the Dirty Dozen list.
For the second one, I vote for Brashar since it was one of the few times John Walsh and I had the same year end most wanted fugitive and he surrendered over 20 years after he sexually murdered Mary and Lisa.

Charles Herbert "Chaka" Raysor shuts out Adam Ezerski 0 to 4, and Michael Blane Brashar defeats Eric Franklin Rosser 1 to 3
Round 3, Match 2
Dennis James Skillicorn, #321, Oct 6, 1994 His murder spree started in 1979 when he broke into a home in Missouri and shot a man to death. Sentenced to 35 years in prison for 2nd degree murder, he was released after just over a decade. In the early to mid 1990s, he murdered 4 good samaritans in America, and traveled to Mexico where he killed a woman in a diner. On October 6, 1994, he was busted in San Diego, California 1 1/2 months after the murder of Richard Drummond, his 4th victim. Condemned to death in Missouri, he was executed in May of 2009.
vs
Larry Burns, #1124, Jly 20, 2010 In May of 1986, his ex-wife had been seeking shelter from him in her mother's house in Gary, Indiana. He burst into the house, guns blazing. The mother got into a gunfight and fled when Burns' gun jammed. Then, he ran up the stairs to the bedroom and killed his ex-wife with 2 shots to the head. He'd last been seen walking out of the house with one shoe on and his boxers exposed. Starting in 1993, AMW aired him about a dozen times. 24 years later, an amw.com tipster busted him on July 20, 2010, his alias' 57th birthday, in Long Beach, California, where he'd made a living by breeding rottweilers and repairing pool tables under the name Daniel Oakes. He was convicted and sentenced to 7 decades in prison.
and
David Alex Alvarez, #467, May 20, 1997 One of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted. His crimes happened in September 1996 in Los Angeles. In an extortion plot, he and a few accomplices kidnapped 10 people, 4 of them children, and soon shot them up. 2 adults and 2 female children died, 3 hostages were wounded, and 3 escaped unharmed. He was busted eating Chinese food for lunch in Tijuana, Mexico.
vs
Andre "Mac Minister" Dow, #879, Mrc 2, 2006 A well-known rap artist. In May 2005, in Las Vegas, he shot and killed 2 rap artists named Anthony "Fat-Tone" Watkins and Jermaine "Cowboy" Atkins with an AK-47 after a Snoop Dogg concert. The motive was an argument over the murder of San Francisco Bay rap legend Mac Dre. It's likely he murdered a female witness in November 2005. He was busted hiding out in a San Francisco apartment, under a pile of clothing. On the night before August 2008, he was sentenced to 2 life terms without parole.
My votes go to Dennis James Skillicorn and David Alex Alvarez. On top of their higher death tolls, Skillicorn didn't show any intention to stop killing until he himself was dead, and Alvarez killed 2 children among his 4 victims.

Much easier votes this time although I agree with Derek it's more fun when it's tough. I also vote for Skillicorn for Alvarez.

Dennis James Skillicorn and David Alex Alvarez advance to Round 4
Round 3, Match 3
Alan Eugene White, #435, Nvb 9, 1996 The lead story on the first broadcast of America Fights Back, and one of John Walsh's earliest Public Enemy #1s. In Salina, Kansas, in July 1996, he bludgeoned a 5 year old boy and his great grandmother to death, and sexually murdered the elderly woman's daughter. He was busted in Boston, Massachusetts 4 months after the massacre, watching a movie in a homeless shelter. He was spared the death penalty, but got a 14 decade sentence with no chance of parole.
vs
Sothi "Player Number 1" Menh and Sam Chan, #479/#510, Jly 29, 1997/Jne 9, 1998 Co-founders of the Asian Boyz street gang. The gang war against Wah Ching started in December 1993 in a California pool hall. Over the next 3.6 years, Menh murdered 5 people and wounded 7. AMW caught Menh in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. In June of 1998, AMW busted Sam Chan, the other Asian Boyz alpha, as capture #510 in Utah. Chan's death toll was liberally estimated at 8. Over the next decade, the manhunt continued for their 3rd member, Marvin "Shy Boy" Aclaro Mercado, who was nabbed as an empty capture near the end of 2007.
and
Vergilio Pablo Paz-Romero, #148, Apl 23, 1991 A self-proclaimed Cuban anti-Communist. In September 1976, the Chilean government hired him to assassinate a foreign ambassador with a remote-controlled bomb in Washington, DC. 2 people, including the former ambassador he targeted were killed, and 3 were wounded. 14.6 years later, AMW tips led to Boynton Beach, Florida, where he was running a landscaping business. Before he was busted, he picked a shootout with the police, which was caught on tape.
vs
George Rivas, #642, Jnr 21, 2001 The de facto ringleader of the Texas Seven. In one of Texas' worst prison break cases ever, he and 6 other inmates serving time for murder, robbery, child abuse, or sex crimes broke out of prison. Following their escape, they shot a police officer named Aubrey Hawkins to death in a store robbery. George Rivas was originally convicted of kidnapping and burglary. Rivas, Michael Anthony Rodriguez (#643), and Joseph Christopher Garcia (#644) were the first to fall; they were busted hiding in a trailer in Woodland Park, Colorado. All of the remaining Texas Seven were condemned to death, and George Rivas was executed in March 2012.
First, my vote goes to Alan Eugene White for the triumphant return to air following the first cancellation, and because one of the murders was sexual in nature and one was the murder of a small child.
Second, Vergilio Pablo Paz-Romero because he was hired by the Chilean government to carry out that bombing, and he had a higher casualty toll than any of the Texas Seven.

I vote for Alan Eugene White and George Rivas.
White for the reasons you stated.
And Rivas, because although it would be easier if the contestant as the entire Texas Seven and not Rivas by himself, he still represented one of the hugest stories in AMW history. Until Elizabeth Smart was recovered, John Walsh had called it his favorite moment on the show. It was a huge story and takedown of seven fugitives wanted for the worst crimes imaginable, and Rivas was the ringleader.

For vote's for White, for reasons stated.
Second one's tough. Rivas was the ringleader of a mass breakout and participated in the murder of a police officer. Not to mention they were all captured as a direct result. Paz-Romero, on the other hand, took part in the assassination of an ambassador sanctioned by the Chilean government. He was also captured almost 15 years later.
Tough call, but my votes for Paz-Romero, due to the nature of the crime as well as the length of time it took to capture him.

Alan Eugene White shuts out the Asian Boyz, and Vergilio Pablo Paz-Romero defeats George Rivas 3 to 1
Round 3, Division 4
Robert Thomas Nauss, #123, Oct 30, 1990 A Warlocks Biker Gang vice president on the US Marshal's 15 Most Wanted list. Around the turn of 1972, he was facing charges of rape, robbery, and drug trafficking. Just before the trial, he murdered and dismembered his girlfriend and hung her head over a Pennsylvania apartment building. In November 1983, he broke out of prison for the murder. Over the following 7 years, he managed to start over with a new family in Michigan, and an AMW tipster busted him as he was driving with his wife and children. To this day, he's serving life in prison.
vs
Pedro Luis Estrada, #73, Oct 1, 1989 A former professional boxer on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. In 1985, he was involved in drug trafficking and robberies. From May to August 1986, he shot 7 people dead in drug contract hits. He was busted in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, unarmed where his parents were staying.
and
Seymour Pinckney, #79, Oct 22, 1989 For years, he'd beaten and molested his common-law wife's 4 young daughters. In 1978, he killed his common-law wife and the eldest stepdaughter in New Jersey. After 11 years, this prolific child molester turned family destroyer was busted in Mathews Court House, Virginia.
vs
Marc Adams, #266, Jly 16, 1993 The notorious part of his criminal history started in the 1970's when he became a serial robber targeting teenagers. In 1979, he shot at 3 teen boys in Modesto, California. The casualty toll was 1 dead, 1 wounded, 1 unharmed. The policeman who responded to the scene was the mortal victim's uncle. In 1986, he escaped from the infamous San Quentin prison, one of the only criminals to manage this feat. Starting in 1987, he'd lived as a model citizen of Puerto Rico for about 6 years before AMW tipsters busted him. A few years later, he died in a prison fight.
My votes go to Pedro Luis Estrada for his steep death toll and Seymour Pinckney because he was a child molester turned multi murderer.
