That is surprising. Brown's case is arguably the most well known of the top tenners (Yaser Said probably gives him some competition).
However, when it comes to publicity, the more the merrier.

12 years ago this month Jason Brown went on the run, wnd im still in shock about the fact that he hasnt been found despite massive media attention he has gotten over the years. Hes already had his bounty increased 3 almost 4 years ago now. In December it will be 9 years since he became a top tenner and all the numbers do is make me wonder how much longer till Brown is finally caught and in custody.

So i wrote an essay yesterday on Jason Derek Brown for school titled "The Iconic Photograph in the Sleuthing World" (in reference to his 2004 photo) and i explained Brown's background, his crime and the developments since. My audience was in pure shock and curiousity as to why a Murderer/Armed Robbery suspect has a $200,000 reward compared to "the family killer of 5 from the 1950s" as they called him, at $100,000 (referring to William Bishop).
I wrote that Brown could be anywhere in the world at this point, and i pointed out that Brown could even be somewhere in Central and South America which is a new theory. He may have fled to Mexico and then pulled a potential Glen Godwin by going further south like Brazil, Chile or even Argentina, but at the same time i won't debunk the possibility of him being in the states or Canada for that matter.

Brown was added 9 years ago today.... a shocker to tell you the truth, it felt like that was just yesterday I read the press release on the day of his addition.

I wonder what it is like to be a fugitive for nine years? You think he is chilling out and partying it up? Or is he hiding out in a basement or attic?

That is a great question. Brown always wanted to be the life of the party, but it also was never his intention to become a fugitive either. So it could go either way. He has to be doing some sort of con and deceiving a person or group of people to stay on the run for this long.

You've got to think he is hiding among people who know that he is a fugitive but for whatever reason are helping him evade capture.

I think likely he is living off of someone or living in a homeless shelter with a completely altered looked somewhere in Canada, the Midwest, the south or even Maine (don't know why I said Maine but hey no Top Tenner has been caught there yet). The southwest theory is too overlooked IMO.
Looking back.... it wasn't until well after the fall of Whitey Bugler and Osama Bin laden that the FBI needed a new fugitive to add more attention and an added reward, Jason Brown was good choice since he had been on the list 5 years, was already recognized as a notorious fugitive because of the list and everyone was simply sitting at $100,000 with the exception of Victor Gerena around that time. The notoriety of Brown somewhat grew after Whitey and Osama, but in the last year or 2 I've seen that Yaser Said and Brad Bishop take his spotlight in a way.

8 years later it's pretty sad and ironic to see all the "close to catching him" comments. Still have to wonder sometimes though. It's been argued Roy Harrell may not have really seen Brad Bishop in Italy after all. While I don't know this source to accuse them of making it up, everyone does have a twin. Is it possible it was mistaken identity? It probably WAS Jason Derek Brown, but just some food for thought.

Brown blends in easy and he isn't on the run with anyone else which makes this case a bit more saddening, but I hope he is caught because of the public's tips. But I will say if and when Gerena is Captured or removed it'll cause Brown to be extremely reclusive and paranoid like Bulger who became #1 after Bin Laden's death, which was also one of the factors that lead to his capture, and right now I feel it could be the same for JDB in that aspect.

I don't think Brown's looking at what happens to other people on the Top 10 list. Whenever Gerena's captured, if he's ever captured, unless Brown is for some reason also in Cuba (extremely unlikely but hey he's the one guy who could literally be anywhere), he's going to continue doing what he's doing since unfortunately it's working so far. The only thing to cause Brown to be more reclusive is if there's a near-miss and he's almost captured, unfortunately there's been a few near misses already, although mostly after he first allegedly shot and killed Keith Palomares.

At this point we don't even know if Brown is alive. I would think he is, but you never know.

Common sense would say he's still alive but you never know. It's alleged he did drugs and he obviously drank. So I could see him dying of a drug overdose or something of the sort. Unlikely, but it's a plausible theory.
