In 1996, Jon Vincent escaped from a halfway house in Montgomery County, Texas. It's not clear on what he was serving time for, but court records showed that from 1991 to 1995, a "Jon Vincent" was serving a sentence for indecency with a child. After escaping, Jon assumed the identity of an infant who died in 1972. A relative of that infant was doing a genealogy search on ancestry.com and came across the identity that Jon Vincent had stolen. Authorities were contacted and Jon was finally arrested. He appeared in court this week, charged with one count of federal identity theft. www.philly.com/philly/blogs/real-time/Ancestry-search-identity-theft-Jon-Vincent-Nathan-Laskoski.html

In 1980, Ian Jackson McDonald was arrested for trafficking shipments of marijuana from Florida to Canada. Before he was to be sent back to Canada, he faked a heart attack and was taken to a hospital. He then convinced a private security officer to unshackle his legs to take a shower. When the officer walked away, McDonald escaped. He went off law enforcement's radar until the US Marshals formed a Miami based cold case task force and tracked McDonald from where he was living in Pennsylvania to a small town in Florida. When he was arrested, he told the officers he constantly looked over his shoulder and wondered when they came that authorities would arrest him. www.palmbeachpost.com/news/crime--law/marshals-arrest-escaped-fugitive-after-years-the-run-suspected-marijuana-trafficking/xfRwuWJDcaHcyMZpzyayXI/

In June of 1998, Donnovan Johnson escaped from the Greene County jail in Alabama. He was arrested in 1996 for one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. Johnson's accomplice, Eric Edwards was convicted and has already served his prison sentence. In 1976, Solomon Brown robbed a Youngstown, Ohio convenience store at gunpoint, tying up the employees. He was convicted and served a prison sentence until his release in 1985. Several other arrests over the next 18 years kept him in and out of prison. In 2007, he stopped reporting to the parole authority and a warrant was issued for his arrest. During his life on the run, he created over 40 aliases that he used in Ohio, Louisiana and California. A multi-agency task force tracked him throughout the greater Los Angeles area where he has been finally arrested. www.wfmj.com/story/35508807/40-year-crime-career-that-began-in-youngstown-ends-in-los-angeles

In 2004, Ciro Cantu Munoz shot and killed Jesus Jimenez outside Brownsville, Texas. Ciro had been hiding out in Mexico until he was arrested crossing the US-Mexico border bridge between Brownsville and Matamoros, Mexico. Edit: I think I saw Ciro Munoz on an archived law enforcement website from around 2007/2008 but didn't post him since I didn't have a more recent reference that he was still wanted. www.brownsvilleherald.com/article_b9677026-4164-11e7-8ec6-07cc9623034a.html

In 1992, Carl Francis was convicted in absentia of robbing three Toronto, Canada banks and was sentenced to three years. For years he had been living a supposedly law-abiding life in New York State. A couple years ago, detectives in Toronto got a break that indicated Carl's approximate location, and they believed that he surrendered to them because he felt as an aging-fugitive, he wouldn't get health benefits. He is now in custody again in Ontario, Canada. www.torontosun.com/2017/05/30/toronto-police-bring-fugitive-bank-robbers-25-year-getaway-to-a-halt

In 2004, Kenneth Bradshaw became a wanted fugitive. Authorities in Alachua County, Florida were looking for him on a aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer charge along with Putnam County authorities looking for him on a sexual assault charge. He apparently didn't flee very far at all because he was just arrested in Gainesville, Florida which is in Alachua County. www.wcjb.com/local-news/2017/06/aso-fugitive-caught-13-years-after-crimes
