In 1989, Jaipaul Maharaj was driving while intoxicated in Queens, New York. As a result, he crashed into another car, severely injuring a passenger in that other vehicle. The passenger died from her injuries in 1994. Majaraj was arrested, pled guilty but failed to appear for his sentencing and went on the run. In 2015, while under an alias, he was arrested in Sullivan County, New York for an unrelated crime. When he went to meet with probation officials, they learned of Maharaj's fugitive status and he was arrested 27 years after going on the run. www.qchron.com/fugitive-driver-nabbed-after-years-on-the-lam/article_39852388-6358-11e7-aff4-2fc6b37a0f27.html

In the late 1980s, Robert Frederick Nelson was arrested by the US Secret Service on multiple counterfeiting charges. He escaped from a federal prison in Minnesota in 1992. Afterwards, Robert went to Nevada where under an alias, he assumed a new criminal lifestyle. Over the years, he was arrested for several armed robberies, burglaries and even for escaping from prison again! During the mid-2000s, he assumed his original identity. When he went to the DMV to renew his state identification card, it was determined that Robert was a fugitive and he was arrested under his true identity. www.ktnv.com/news/crime/dmv-investigators-catch-federal-fugitive-on-the-run-for-25-years

In 2002, George Rodriguez had failed to appear in court in Corpus Christi, Texas. He had been charged with the 2000 intoxicated manslaughter deaths of two 17-year old boys. In July of this year, investigators learned that George was hiding out in Piedras Negras, Mexico which borders Eagle Pass, Texas. He is now in custody in Eagle Pass, awaiting extradition back to Corpus Christi. www.ktxs.com/news/texas/texas-man-wanted-for-traffic-fatals-in-2000-found-in-mexico/619844824
