Thanks everyone! I'm back (sort of). I'll try to reply to as many threads as I can.
I went away for a week and the FBI still hasn't added a new top tenner, I thought that would do the trick.
(My big fear was always Yaser Said would get captured while I was on vacation and I'd miss it, so at least that didn't happen, and a major capture happening that I find out about belatedly would be a good problem to have lol.

And of course thanks so much to HeadMarshal for holding down the fort while I was away!

And of course thanks so much to HeadMarshal for holding down the fort while I was away! There was a breaking news fugitive from Mississippi who shot at an agent and thankfully the agent is okay, but he was literally captured earlier today so that’s about all that you missed out on lol.

Wondering if anyone's following the Jeopardy host saga? (Where the EP chose himself to be the new host a la Dick Cheney only for it to be revealed he was a racist misogynist d-bag and he had to resign) It's my favorite game show, which is ironic since I've always been better at Wheel of Fortune, but I think that's the fun of Jeopardy is it the more challenging and intellectual show, and it feels good when I get Final Jeopardy right and the contestants don't lol.
I personally think the only way for Sony to save face is to just give it to Ken Jennings, being he's a former contestant, and unlike Richards who seemed to be a legit jerk, all of Jenning's tweets that had some controversy were just jokes he later apologzied for. (I love Levar Burton, but I think it's just millennial nostalgia that so many of us wanted him to host, I watched his guest host episodes and I'm sorry to say but they were disappointing, he seemed awkward and nervous while others seemed more polished, I'd still take him as host though as he's not a bad guy and can improve through training).
Imagine if AMW had replaced John Walsh with Nancy Grace is sort of like what happened with Jeopardy. (Granted, Grace was hired to host the Fox Nation after show, but at least she wasn't hired as the full time regular host and they went with the more respectable Elizabeth Vargas in that role).

Just a reminder that we're still in a pandemic and I encourage everyone to continue to wear masks. Here in NYC, I see too many people not wearing masks lately. I feel that once people see the numbers go down/weather gets nicer, that gives them carte blanche to be careless again when it's still out there. I saw like 15 people walk by without a mask last night and it's like I can't even say anything not because I'm afraid but because what am I supposed to do, get into arguments with 15 different people? Arguments take up at least 5-10 minutes of cussing each other out so that would equal possibly over an hour and a half of lost time trying to get where I'm going lol. But yeah please wear your mask. Even if you think you're invincible, for the sake of other people! This is going to sound like a u-turn but after a year I think we can now relax a little bit if you're vaccinated- I trust Dr. Fauci and the CDC and they say if you're vaccinated you can feel free to not wear a mask ourdoors or indoors with some exceptions (hospitals, public transportation you understandably still have to wear one for example). I do feel that if we're vaccinated, it is time we can start to get back to normal again. The only reason I still wear a mask is honestly there's still confusion as to where I can or can't- CVS no longer has a mask rule but Rite Aid does for example- so just to reduce confusion lol. I applaud all of us who were good soldiers before the news though. Obviously the Delta variant has put a wrench in things but I personally feel free to no longer wear a mask if I don't have to now that I'm vaccinated- but I respect the rules of anywhere that still wants me to- and to be honest- the subway is one place I'd probably mask up even if I didn't have to lol. If people would stop being selfish and get vaccinated already, it would help. They see all the examples of people wearing masks and being double vaxxed and getting Covid anyway and they think it proves their point- but it doesn't. The vaccine is to prevent you from severe illness and mitigate the symptoms if you get Covid! It's not a 100 percent failsafe against Covid because no vaccine works that way! The regular flu vaccine is actually less effective! I think they said nearly all Covid deaths now are people who aren't vaccinated. Get the vaccine not so you don't get Covid, but so that you don't die if you do get it. Frigging adults acting like children.

Not sure if I posted this already but I am fully vaccinated. I also wear my mask virtually everywhere when I'm outside my home. I'm just paranoid of the delta variant. They are predicting the fourth wave here in Ontario, Canada will likely be the worst yet. The province of Alberta is sadly a sneak preview of what's to come here. Thankfully, vaccination bookings are going up ever since our premier approved a vaccine passport policy that starts later this month.

I just think that everyone should get vaccinated sans the very very very few with valid medical reasons. Masks are a personal choice however the exception is if you're in a business that wants you to wear a mask! Everyone should respect the rules wherever they are regarding with masks, while they are free to decide whether or not to wear them outside if the mask mandates are still indoors only where they are.

It's tough to know whether people are refusing to get vaccinated because of childish selfishness, or because they've been brainwashed by anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorists like Andrew Wakefield and Bernard and Lisa Selz. We have to fight disinformation and politically charged defiance just as vigorously as the virus proper.

Personally I still wear my mask even though I’ve been fully vaccinated and I do it because I know my immune system is comprised as I’ve been a smoker since early 2019. Honestly the way the pandemic has been handled in California has been great and basically that’s the reason Governor Gavin Newsom is getting recalled, because a bunch of idiots didn’t like the idea of lockdowns and mask mandates here. I will vote No to Recall Gov Newsom, in other words…… “Don’t Florida My California”

I will vote No to Recall Gov Newsom, in other words…… “Don’t Florida My California” Given how much promotion was specifically going into Larry Elder's campaign, it reeked of a power grab by a specific special interest. Larry Elder's the leading public figure attached to the United Statish chapter of a news publication named the Epoch Times, which backs a Chinese spiritual movement named Falun Gong, who's been at war with the Chinese Communist Party since the '990s when either Xi Jinping or one of his predecessors got caught kidnapping Falun Gong followers and harvesting their organs alive. Around the time of the '016 election, the Epoch Times and other Falun Gong publications threw their support behind Tronald Dump Sr, seeing Tronald as the enemy of their enemy, which enabled the Epoch Times and possibly some of the other publications to strike it rich and influential beyond their wildest dreams. I think it's a sleazy effort by Falun Gong to take over California and drag our children, our college-educated, and our rightful believers in science, into their own crusade against the Chinese government, even if it means exacerbating Covid in the process. Because Falun Gong earnestly believes that Covid is a punishment from some undefined universal force, and that the only way for an individual to stave off Covid is to appease this force by doing his/her/their part to strike back at Jinping and the CCP.

Just a note that I acknowledge its my fault for sort of starting it lol but this is starting to become a political discussion that should be discussed more in depth in the politics thread.
The irony being masks and vaccines shouldn't be political but somehow people have made them so.

Not sure which thread was appropriate for this but despite my recent expressed concerns that the FBI most wanted list is sort of becoming entirely Hisapnic, I do also know this reflects the changing demographics, and as such I've been brushing up on my Spanish lately so I can read Spanish news sites etc... to follow crime stories, see if any of our fugitives got captured etc... I technically learned Spanish in high school but completely forgot all of it aside from being a native New Yorker and knowing some Spanish by default based on that (I'm sure they feel the same way but the difficulty I often have is knowing the words but if someone speaks too fast I can't keep up, but to someone from another country who knows English but isn't a native speaker, I probably speak too fast for them). I'm proud to say I've gotten to the point where although I still need google translate for the overall story, I'm now able to get the general gist of most stories I read before the translation.
I'd strongly encourage people to download learning apps like Duolingo, Babel, etc... use google translate and play around with it and/or self-teach as well- there's languages besides Spanish you can learn of course- but it's fun and could come in handy if you want to travel or just communicate with people outside your native language.
It is kind of embarrassing when I see white politicians not use a translator and try to pander and translate themselves though lol (I'm looking at you Mayor DeBlasio!)
Anyway, as you can see I've been more active than usual these days, so yo necesito dormir. Hasta luego! lol.

Tomorrow is sadly the 20 year-anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks.
I know this is selfish of me but two things I've thought about lately- but I feel they're underrated- it was such a beautiful day in NYC and weather-wise was going to be a beautiful day before the planes hit the twin towers. In some ways perhaps it would have been even worse had been a rainy day or humid day, perhaps the flames burn even faster even more lives lost etc.. but I'm still reminded of how something so horrible happened on such a nice day.
The other is that I miss the World Trade Center- they were somewhat controversial as aesthetically some thought they were ugly- but I still miss seeing it in the skyline as a reminder of the city and what it built and I miss visiting the roof deck, where on nice days you could actually be on the roof and not just behind glass.
I'll be a little more expansive than I have in the past in that I was in college that day. I was a freshman. My philosophy professor announced to the class that one plane hit Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. Since this was philosophy class, one student asked "is that morally right?" And we all laughed- not because he or we were jerks but in the moment- like many thought- it didn't seem that big a deal- like a small plane accidentally crashed into it and caused some damage. It wasn't until my second class that word got out that a second plane hit Tower 2 (and that the first plane wasn't a small plane) that it was obvious this was intentional and a terror attack. And even back then, Osama Bin Laden was on the top 10 list and I immediately knew he had something to do with it.
Living in New York, it was- obviously- total chaos. Cell phones were still flip phones back then, and I'm not sure if it was that reason or something to do with the WTC but I had to use a payphone on campus to call my parents as my Nokia flip phone wasn't working. Subways were shut down and I had no idea how I was going to get home, eventually I found it easier to just stay at my Aunt's place who was only a local bus ride away instead. I didn't know how to get there exactly though and wound up getting on the wrong bus- getting yelled at by the bus driver because my toe was slightly over the line on a crowded bus (but considering what was happening that day I can't exactly blame him for being stressed out or care I was getting yelled compared to what other people were going through).
This was also pre-Facebook and basically pre-social media so it was also a scary time because of rumors and misinformation- some people made it sound like all of downtown Manhattan was ablaze while others claimed every Senator was killed at the Capitol.
They had tvs rolled out in front of a campus building we all crowded around and watched and I remember a security guard watching with a grin on his face- it wasn't because he found it funny- but a grin of disbelief.
It was pretty emotional and terrifying at the same time at age 18 and still essentially a teenager that tried to hide his emotions, it did get to me.
It's hard to believe it's 20 years later, but I also think the younger generation who were either born too young to truly remember 9/11 or were born after it can't appreciate how life and world-altering it was.
I do admittedly think about how the world would be different- for better or worse- if 9/11 never happened- would Obama still become President, would I eventually have to take my shoes off to go through airport security anyway, would I be the same person I am today- my good qualities and bad qualities- and have the same views and values- good and bad qualities?
This isn't the Marvel Universe and there aren't alternate timelines though.
I think we still haven't gotten over 9/11, and we never should, but we as a society need to start reacting the way John Walsh fueled his loss and rage into starting AMW. I'm not naive, I don't think crime racism etc... will ever be truly eradicated... but we can at least make ourselves into a more peaceful society with less crime and less racism- even if we never achieve utopia.

At home, racial tensions and the problems at airports were bad enough, but abroad, I was more upset about all the interventionism that took off in the early 00-Agents' Decade. Back in my late preteens, I was functioning more like a primary grader where it counted, but I knew, even that far back, that I didn't want my country to be at war. Then, throughout the late '010s Decade, many public figures from Tronald Dump Sr himself to some far bigger warhawks who've been plaguing our political system all New Millennium long were saying the quiet parts out loud during interviews. They talked about retaining the oil or reaping the profits from the poppy fields in Afghanistan. More evidence came out around the same time, explaining why the Pentagon kept moving the goal posts after Saddam Hussein was captured, or after it seemed like the Taliban had been initially toppled, or after Bin Laden got killed in Operation Neptune Spear. The Pentagon acted like they were afraid of an insurgency, then the Pentagon acted like we needed to be there to keep the peace, then it was eventually revealed that the main purpose of the wars halfway around the world was to benefit Halliburton, Chevron, Purdue Pharma, and some tech companies whose products were made of lanthanides and other rare metals. All that foreign policy aggression is the first thing that comes to mind when I picture how the 9-11-001 plane bombings reshaped United Statish culture.
