Wanted to congratulate HeadMarshal on the Toronto Raptors winning the NBA championship! I know he doesn't really watch sports, but this is Canada's first national sports championship since the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series in 1993 (The Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup in 93 as well), so I'm sure his country is celebrating.

Thought you guys would find this amusing.
I was at the doctor's office today (just a yearly checkup thingie), sitting in the waiting room, and they call the usual names to let them know the doctor's ready for them... Mary Robinson, Jose Lopez etc... and all of a sudden they go "John Walsh". And it turns out the guy sitting next to me, while obviously not THAT John Walsh, was named John Walsh lol.
(I realize John Walsh is actually a fairly common Irish name but still what are the odds!)
I didn't make a joke but I was so tempted to yell out "and remember, you CAN make a difference!" as he headed to the patient room lol.

July 4th is coming up and sorry as I'm a little today on this but wanted to wish HeadMarshal a happy Canada Day today, which is essentially their fourth of July! I know I've been showing a lot of love to Canada lately, but hey we're all probably going to wind up moving there soon the longer Trump stays President so let's be nice to our fellow Canadians for the time being. Also hope we have a happy 4th for all us in the states. Enjoy your local fireworks displays, and if you do your own (legal) fireworks, have fun but be careful (A New York Giants player lost a finger a few years ago). If you don't have legal permit to, don't (duh!). But if you're legally allowed to, as Apu from the Simpsons says, celebrate the independence of your nation by blowing up a small part of it.

Speaking of America, I know you guys usually don't normally watch sports but has anyone been watching the U.S. women's soccer team? The guy who I no longer refer to other than whatshisface sent me some sort of thing but I deleted it without reading once I realized it was from him (the spelling and grammar errors usually give it away even when he tries to hide his name so I stopped reading and sent the e-mail to the trash after the first sentence, it is tempting to read the messages though if you guys could see them, I know from the past they're amusing like a parody of an actual person so it is very hard to resist the temptation to laugh!) but I hope some of us are still following the team because it's been an incredible run! I figured maybe this would be a rare exception for some of you who don't normally follow sports because of the history making.

And the women's soccer team has won the world cup! Now all they need is equal pay (they are in a lawsuit as they are not paid the same as their male counterparts). P.S. They've said most of them will probably decline a white house visit so I love this team even more now.

Sending my thoughts to New Orleans, rooting for them as they're experiencing major raining and flooding with yet another possible devastating Hurricane coming.
As we know I was there for CrimeCon, and while I was in the tourist part of the city, I did see some of the areas struck by Katrina on a tour, you saw the still lingering damaging but also all the new homes and musicians village as well and it would be heartbreaking to see them have to rebuild again after all the progress they made.
New Orleans has its problem with crime, but it's also a city with very generous and kind people. They are susceptible to inclement weather, but I hope nothing Katrina-like or I hate to say it, worse than Katrina, happens to them anytime in the near future.

I hope so too for the sake of the city and it’s inhabitants. Unfortunately the odds are stacked against New Orleans long term since the city is below sea level and apparently sinking. Whatever happened to restoring Louisiana’s wetlands after Katrina I wonder.

I should've known this was coming up because it's the 3rd quarter of the year, the summer as I define it. Anywho, I'm afraid the same people who left Puerto Rico for dead after Hurricane Maria are plotting to leave New Orleans just as flattened and blacked-out. If Puerto Rico ever got its electrical power back since the summer of '017, I missed the news, and now I'm afraid that whoever was supposed to prepare for the '017 and '018 hurricane seasons might abandon LSNA instead.

We just have to hope NOLA and Louisiana in general doesn't get hit as bad as it could, they did put some safeguards in place after Katrina but the weather in general gets crazier and crazier lately and sorry as this should be in the politics thread- global warming, which supposedly doesn't exist, doesn't help either. (Although I maintain global warming is the one issue that SHOULDN'T be political- but Republicans/Conservatives kowtow to oil companies they make profits off which means having to deny anything related to gas, oil etc... is awful for the environment). Not just Louisiana but one day Florida could be underwater, California shifted away etc...

Here we were worried about New Orleans and my hometown has a blackout, talk about a plot twist!
Luckily the part of the city I was in wasn't effected and all power should be restored by midnight.
To be honest, I remember having fun during the blackout of 2003 because the delis were giving anyway that could get spoiled (free water ice cream etc... lol)

Let's hope something like that never happens again.

I feel like it is inevitable that a major countrywide blackout could happen again one day but hopefully not for a while and hopefully it would be short-lived. Thankfully the one in nyc last night was only a few hours, but enough for anyone trapped in a subway or elevator.

As I’ve said in an earlier post, I haven’t been as active as I usually have been, and really 2019 so far has been one of the most challenging and crazy years I’ve ever had, also I’ve had to deal with 3 tragedies within the last few months, personal drama, and keeping busy with work.
At first it was very hard for me, and it shows because in all honesty, every time a new fugitive is named to the FBI Top Ten, I get happy as I see it as the beginning of the end for that individual’s time on the run, however the 2 most recent additions didn’t even get me excited and that’s how upset I was, I’m just now processing that Arnoldo Jimenez and Eugene Palmer are currently on the list now. Some very good words of wisdom for all you guys that are on here regularly, it’s that you are your happiness, you make your happiness, and be happy appreciate those around you and what you have, because when you do, it’s the best feeling on earth.
I’m getting a little better, I’m going to try and post on here frequently like I used to because I really miss being on here and also I’ve got project lined up, and no it’s not a sleuth or politics related, (I’m very fed up with politics and I don’t even want to hear it anymore until the year of the actual election). Since I’m also a car enthusiast I decided to do some searching around and scored a stunning barn find recently and I found a beautiful 1979 Porsche (I won’t say which model in particular only that it’s one of the cheaper ones), pretty much been getting that thing ready to take it on a road trip to New York City in a couple weeks. ☺️
Now let’s hope the rest of 2019 goes well without any tragedies and only good vibes, because my heart goes out to the victims, their families and the first responders of the shooting that occurred in El Paso, Texas, I just wish we can get something done with this whole gun control mess and I’ll just leave it at that.

Welcome back! (Even though you were already here lol).
Life happens sometimes, I hope personally our lives are great for the rest of the year. But in society itself we'll unfortunately continue to have challenges. It's a matter of how we respond to our personal or societal challenges.
Also as someone who grew up in a public transportation city, even those of us who drive barely use our vehicles, your expertise on cars is much appreciated since they often come up in cases lol.
But anyways, welcome back!
