Looking forward to your list, honestly the other issue is besides switching to iPhone I also switched phone carriers. I’m actually liking iPhone better but it’s still a big life change and I still need to get used to the new phone and the carrier who I was on the phone with for literally 2 1/2 hours the other week. So I have that keeping me occupied as well lol

Wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts on this…. Although we have more members than a few years ago and this over the years has become a more active site I feel the site has evolved more into discussing and sleuthing than things we used to do with site wide participation. For this reason I will be discontinuing the site dirty dozen (we can still keep our own lists of course) and public enemy #1 features since I feel there is just not activity in regards to them- replacing a site dirty dozen capture usually results in minimal suggestions with nothing but outdated nominations from years ago. Not to mention Esnel Jean I feel unfortunately is not getting caught any time soon. I’ll never give up on hoping he gets captured, but having a guy on the front page at large for nearly 30 years now doesn’t make sense imo.
Just wanted to make sure no one would freak out before I officially discontinued this.

I say we should bring back the dirty dozen list in a couple of years but next time around add forum exclusive fugitives from the 2010s/2020 instead.

Also , this will probably not apply to next year although it would be a good problem to have if Drayton is caught earlier but another thing I’ll be changing is - this also depends on the returns of AMW and In Pursuit and how they will coincide- but instead of fugitive of the week I will be doing fugitive of the day so more fugitives can get front page exposure- or also honestly to not have the pressure of always picking one case on a weekend day each week- I could let the fugitive of the day stay on the front page for longer than a day on purpose as a way of drawing attention and/or honestly not having to worry about giving myself set times to change the photo lol.

And yes a big change on the forum for 2024- as fugitive of the week is now fugitive of the day! This should hopefully get more front page coverage for more cases- also I now feel ok repeating fugitives of the day as opposed to not liking having fugitives of the week more than once as that eats up 14 days- but please keep in mind I may purposely leave a fugitive up there for more than a day sometimes and/or to be honest this gives me more leeway to be lazy and not worry about deadlines as people will think I purposely left them up when really I got busy haha.

Also I was keeping this private between me and HeadMarshal but the fugitive of the day feature also reminded me to mention this- is that another reason you may see a fugitive still up there and I haven’t changed it is it is possible I may have to take a leave of absence from the forum due to my father’s ongoing health issues. It is crappy timing with AMW coming back- so this is all bittersweet. So it’s possible I may have to suddenly abandon the forum and leave whatever was the fugitive of the day up there until I get back.
So far I haven’t had to leave the forum to take care of him (I live on my own but my mother can only do so much), but if you see me disappear for more than a week or so (have no idea how long I’d be away- that’s the likely reason.) but he’s had to go to the hospital a lot more lately so I feel based on that I need to be public about this. And to be honest, my dad literally went in the hospital again like 5 minutes after I put up Gabriel Calixto as FOTD which is what prompted me to post this reply. So yeah, he had me at an older age and has lived a long life, so it's great to live this long but sucks at the same time.
HeadMarshal would be in charge until I get back and do an excellent job as always. This is a "just in case" for now but I always like to be prepared.

Wanted to update that I will now be posting more relatively recent fugitives in the future. I’m putting fugitives here into three categories (Immediate breaking news, relatively recent/wanted for 1-month to 1-year, and cold case/anyone wanted for at least one year).
The point of this is to post more fugitives who I feel pose the biggest threat to society. I still don’t focus on breaking news cases because most of those fugitives are immediately found and captured. The relatively recent fugitives I feel do need additional publicity on this forum based on their ability to evade law enforcement.

Sorry if this is a more private thing to add but the only person to feel obligation to post breaking news cases is me as the forum admin- even though most get caught right away- I feel my job is to run this forum as much as original AMW did - which means staying up to date and posting urgent manhunts where even though they are usually resolved quickly the word still needs to be spread since that is usually the reason they’re resolved quickly if that makes sense lol.
And yeah I’m glad you’re going more modern, there were a lot of rare gems you found as far as cold cases and you did a great job with that , but the well does run dry eventually while recent-ish cases stay somewhat around. Don’t feel obligated to not post cold cases too from time to time still though!

A minor change to the forum but from now on whenever I post a case in the national media section rather than being repetitive in my comments I will simply put before an article or summary the reason why the case is in the national media as opposed to exclusive section. No one else needs to feel obligated to do this, it’s mainly for my own sanity since I got tired of going “the reason bla bla bla” in my comments all the time.

Not sure which thread this belongs in but a lot of you know one of my pet peeve type of crime cases are was it a suicide/accident or murder cases since nine times out of ten, it is exactly what it was- a suicide or accident. I feel families are upset in denial or looking for someone to blame or I hate to say it- some may be religious and disapproving that their loved one killed themselves since it is against their belief or they just don’t get suicide and would want to blame them for “giving up” otherwise- not understanding that suicide is a mental disease and suicide victims are not people anyone should be ashamed of.
I was thinking about this because I’ve been in a somewhat similar situation lately- and I stress please do not call anyone for me since I would never kill myself- but with my father’s health issues and all I haven’t been in the best mental health state lately (AMW has been a welcome distraction and came in the nick of time). But I have people who I’d consider acquaintances and not close friends in casual conversation who don’t know much about my life ask me how are you today and I tell them I’m fine and don’t tell them about anything else. Why am I going to burden every single person I come in contact with my problems? Just saying since in these types of crime cases the main reason no one believes the victim committed suicide is “they seemed so happy they gave no indication” and it’s like maybe they were under no obligation to let you know their mental state. I get if you don’t tell your parents or best friend you’re depressed, but too many true crime cases it’s “they smiled at 500 people and didn’t tell everyone on the planet they were suicidal, therefore they were murdered.” If I did kill myself (once again I wouldn’t) the numerous acquaintances would probably also mention how I never told them I was depressed.
I’m not trying to sound insensitive but the reason so many actual homicide cases go unsolved is because the public attention goes to cases that are already solved but with manufactured intrigue instead.

P.S. I just realized the irony that I just told a bunch of strangers I wasn’t doing well but it was to make an analogy not a cry for help lol

Also I don't want to downplay the importance of human/sex trafficking and that is a very real thing- but another thing bugging me in true crime cases- when a person is a missing adult and without any real reason the missing person being alive but is sex trafficked is offered as a theory. There are exceptions but most victims of sex trafficking are unfortunately usually children or especially teenagers/teenage runaways. It rarely happens with adults and especially older adults. It is unfortunately once again- being in denial and looking for any semblance of hope as it's pretty much one of the only still alive options besides a voluntary disappearance. But it's stretching reality. I hate to be blunt about it but that's what it is.

Wanted to clarify here that I have been posting once per day the remaining (buried/archive/lesser known/forgotten about) cold case fugitives I am aware of. The reason is I still want to publicize them but I want to get them out of the way at some point in the near future. Once I am finally done with these cases I will post an update here. This will allow me to address more recent fugitives. The only exception is if new Newspapers.com articles detail any additional long time fugitives.

Just so everyone knows, I'll remind everyone when the time comes closer, but I'll going to Europe in June, and it will likely be the longest I've been away from the forum- just because it's overseas I'll be more away than usual lol. Just wanted to warn everyone in advance not to be offended if I don't answer e-mails, messages etc... it's possible I may have to unfortunately miss a week or two of In Pursuit if it's airing during those weeks, but I can always update the site when I get back with episode guide updates and hopefully captures and whatnot.
