From the Kingsport Times-News website (times-news.net):
WISE — After two days of describing a murder suspect as a person of interest, Wise County authorities on Wednesday issued arrest warrants — including a charge of first-degree murder — against the ex-husband of a Town of Appalachia employee found shot to death early Monday in Appalachia.
Wise County Sheriff Ronnie Oakes announced that three arrest warrants were issued Wednesday against 46-year-old Eric Monroe Jones. The charges include first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm during the commission of first-degree murder.
Jones became the prime suspect in the shooting death of Janina Gina Lorraine Jefferson. Her body was found early Monday at the Appalachia water treatment plant where she worked. Authorities initially sought Jones for questioning in the homicide, and he was also being sought on a felony probation violation.
Wise County court records show Jefferson was awarded a divorce from Jones in September. One week prior to her murder, the couple was in Wise County Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, where a protective order on Jefferson's behalf was extended, a result of a domestic violence assault charge leveled against Jones and allegedly perpetrated on Jefferson.
Jones was also being sought for an outstanding felony probation violation on an original charge of attempted murder for hire. The Wise County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating Jones while cautioning that he is to be considered armed and dangerous.
In Wednesday's latest development, the WCSO advised the public not to approach or attempt to apprehend Jones. Anyone who has information on Jones' whereabouts is asked to contact 911, a local law enforcement agency or the WCSO at 1-276-328-3756.
"The investigation is ongoing and our efforts continue to bring Eric Jones to justice," Oakes said.
"We want to thank the efforts of countless individuals, Wise County Commonwealth's Attorney Chuck Slemp and his office, the Virginia State Police, Big Stone Gap Police, Appalachia Police and our federal law enforcement partners in this case for all they are doing to bring justice for this family. We are doing everything we can to find Eric Jones."

Thoughts? There was an update on this case earlier in the month:
"In addition, Jacob Seth Rowland, 24, of Big Stone Gap, is charged with acting as an accessory in the murder of Jefferson. He is currently in custody.
He faces charges of trespassing, violating a protective order as a principal in the second-degree, conspiracy with Jones to intimidate Jefferson or impede her testimony against Jones by threats of bodily harm or force and that he conspired with Jones to violate a protective order. He faces a total maximum punishment of 71 years of incarceration.
It’s believed that Rowland drove Jones to see Jefferson. Deputies say Rowland knew there was a protective order in place that prevented Jones from having any contact with Jefferson.
He also allegedly knew about the pending charges against Jones and that Jones wanted to prevent Jefferson from testifying against him in those cases."
