(Above photo credit: AMW.com archives) Fugitive Profile as of August 30th, 2014 (Based on FDLE Most Wanted website): Name: SANTINI, DONALD MICHAEL Reporting Agency: HILLSBOROUGH CO SO Date of Birth:D 06/09/1958 Race: WHITE Sex: MALE Height: 6' 01" Weight: 160 Hair Color: BLOND OR STRAWBERRY Eyes Color: BLUE Who to call if you've seen him: Reporting agency at (800) 873-8477 or click on "Submit A Tip" button at the following link:http://pas.fdle.state.fl.us/pas/restricted/PAS/person/WantedPersons.jsf In 2005, AMW re-aired a few cold case fugitives that hadn't been profiled in several years, one of them being murderer Donald Santini. AMW first aired him sometime in the 1990s although I don't know exactly what year he was first aired. In 1984, Hillsborough County Investigators say Donald Santini killed a woman named Cynthia Woods to "discredit her reputation". Santini travelled to Florida from Texas under an assumed name and had a girlfriend at the time of the murder. Authorities hope to identify who hired Santini to kill Cynthia Woods. Before coming to Florida, Santini also had a still-active warrant for robbery in League City, Texas and reportedly was discharged from the Army in Germany for rape. Anyone have opinions on where Santini may be after 28 years on the run? thepolicenews.net/html/TPNJan12.pdfUPDATE from site admin: As of July 26th, 2018, Santini still has a warrant for homicide, according to Florida's online wanted persons search website: pas.fdle.state.fl.us/pas/restricted/PAS/person/WantedPersons.jsfAdmin Note: If you have any (news-related) updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I apologize since I realize I never replied to this.
I'm also bumping this up since someone who recently joined has an interest in this case and I wanted to make sure they could find it. (Feel free to comment if you wish!)
Anyway, as far as whereabouts go, it seems Santini mainly stayed down south as far as known areas go. But he is apparently familiar with Germany from his youth.

Excellent job to the investigators for not giving up on this manhunt and making this capture possible! I will be delighted to move this thread to the captures on national media sub forum.

Apparently, they are saying his arrest was the result of a tip phoned into the U.S. Marshals. That tip originated from Florida. What it almost sounds like to me is that Santini was in contact with individuals in Florida, and someone caught wind of it.
I remember the AMW Cold Case episode on this case pretty well. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office indicated they were very sure who hired Santini to commit the murder, but needed Santini in order to verify that. His case is still punishable by the death penalty. If he starts talking now, he may be able to avoid the death penalty and get a good plea deal if he really provides helpful information on who hired him (I think everyone in this forum familiar with this case has a good idea who it is, too).

Whoa! Yeah, I was not expecting this one! Great work by the tipster who gave him up to the US Marshals!
Of all the officially-designated AMW cold cases that aired in 2005, believe it or not, he is the SECOND one to be caught after Adam Zachs. Teddy Ellis and John Gentry remain at large.

I get the feeling he's either smiling because
A) he's just being a smart-ass
Or
B) he's going for the "innocent grandpa looking guy can't be a murderer" defense.
Or a combination of both.
Either away I agree the smirk will be wiped once he's facing the death penalty.

Santini acknowledged seeing his own AMW episode. Also apparently he watched himself on AMW, which profiled him in 1990, 2005, and 2013. Seeing as the show had been canceled but our posting was in 2013, I assume it is once again lazy journalism mistaking our website with an unofficial disclaimer as the actual show. Still kinda creepy to think Santini may have read this website though. www.insider.com/murder-suspect-saw-his-own-americas-most-wanted-episode-2023-7
