Well they might have had a chance had their mother not drove them back after they tried to flee but other than that I agree.

I go want to give credit to the Price of Honor documentary for a few things. There were some who profiled this case a lot that were insistent he was in New York or he was in Egypt (John Walsh even was convinced he was in Egypt) while they were the ones who said no he's possibly hiding in plain sight in Texas the entire time. I remember during the documentary itself they thought they possibly spotted him. They mentioned how family could be helping. It was largely because of THEM and their sightings that the FBI finally added Said to the top ten list after six years on the run. Out of all the coverage on him, they were the most thorough and accurate and had the most things right the entire time.

I’m a little confused: is that article implying that Yaser fled up to Canada after the 2017 incident?

I re-read the one about the close call and they said Islam fled to Canada after that, but they didn't say Yaser did.

According to the reports, Said surrendered quietly without incident. I'm glad this is the case, although I'm surprised it seems he didn't even like yell or complain. It's water under the bridge now since he's captured anyway, but while it's unfortunate he had 12 years of freedom, I think being on the run having to have family members hide him in multiple houses and apartments had to have taken its' toll on him and the reason he surrendered without a whimper was perhaps a sense of relief he finally got caught. He doesn't deserve to feel relief, but now he's in jail. I just hope they have him on suicide watch. I want to see him get told what a prick (to put it midly) he is by a judge in a court of law.

If nothing else,he has family there too and a lot of folks(not all) who share his mindset in that he was 100% justified in doing what he did. IMO,it would have been highly unlikely for him to be sent back.

I admittedly thought Said was in Egypt too although in my defense I had changed my mind after originally thinking he was hiding out in New York (I still would have been wrong though lol). I still thought he was going to be extradited after heavy negotiation. Thankfully we never had to worry about that anyway.

I’m glad the FBI didn’t scare him off by publicly revealing the information that he was in Texas. I think they realized he was going to remain in contact with family, so they played their cards right.
I would like to hope that maintenance man received the $100,000 reward. He did point them in the right direction.

Through all this, Yaser’s family’s stupidity worked in the favor of justice for Sarah and Amina..... thankfully they weren’t smart enough to finally cut Yaser off after August 2017 and kept messing around with him and hiding him and thus it led to his capture 3 years later. Based on articles released on Yaser Said and numerous tweets during 2019, it seemed like they were onto Said for awhile.

Said would have been a whole different story IMO just because there are many(not all) people who have the same mentality he does in that if they think their daughters act out of line,it's perfectly okay to murder them to restore the family's "honor."

Well like I said thankfully all moot points we don't have to worry about anymore anyway.

There have been AMW cases like the Kristin Smart disappearance where police making public statements on cases tipped off the bad guy to where justice couldn't be done. It would have been the same in this case IMO if the FBI had gone public with much of the info they had. They didn't so now justice can be done.

I don't have any updates, just that I unstickied this thread finally (it was pinned to the top of the captures section so everyone saw the great news if they somehow didn't already know). Normally I'd leave a great capture up for one week, but because of how huge a capture was, I left it pinned for two weeks lol.
Justice might be delayed with the pandemic and all, but I really like the idea that Yaser has to sit around and wait now, rotting away.

I have checked and haven't seen anything yet, but are there any reports that the District Attorney will seek the death penalty for Yaser?
