Just wanted to mention the Hunt's numbers were significantly up for CNN on episode 2 of this season. (Although it says HLN aired forensic files instead? That may be a misprint but the HLN simulcast- while a good thing may make CNN's numbers look lower than they really are since many HLN viewers would have watched on CNN anyway) So looks like I was right that the NBA Finals and Game of Thrones affected the season premiere as The Hunt bounced back the next week. www.adweek.com/tvnewser/scoreboard-sunday-june-26-2/297330

Glad to see The Hunt has good ratings, but I'm ready for Elby Hars and Eugene Palmer, also the FBI stickied Elby Hars to the top of the CAC section let's get these 2

Well if any of you guys caught the Robert Fisher preview, his sister will be giving commentary saying she wants him caught.
But anyways the episode was very intense especially the Palmer profile which showed it from a perspective of feuding families. Palmer being Alive or dead is 70-30 with me likely thinking he's deceased.

My thoughts on the shows tonight:
-It was incredibly brave of Elby Hars two victims (besides his daughter) to come forward. It's usually hard for even one to show their face and name.
There is of course the debate on how much to blame Terri (his daughter) in all of this. Tracie wasn't sympathetic, saying she should have known what if felt like.
I personally felt 10 years was a fair sentence for her- Hars made her a monster but I had a tiny sliver of sympathy that she probably would have never been that way if not for her father.
-While I give credit to Eugene Palmer's sons for coming forward on national to TV to "defend" their father knowing there would be a huge audience probably not sympathetic to them (and it is rare for the fugitive's relatives especially those who seem to somewhat be on their side to come forward on AMW or The Hunt) I personally couldn't stand them and felt they were blaming Tammy for her death. Eugene sounded like someone who would just become a petulant child when he couldn't get his way. I hear so much crap about how she should have left the house, in a sense they both killed each other etc... it enraged me. The bottom line is you don't solve a land dispute by shooting your daughter-in-law to death.

I should add I am glad they put the sons on though, as their in my opinion obvious lies and blaming Tammy probably helped even more for viewers to just see Eugene Palmer as a murderous psychopath.
Also I think the Hars profile did its' job in making people outraged at the case enough to call in a tip if they spot that monster.

I agree it's like the Palmer brothers wanted to pin everything that had gone wrong because of Tammy, but in this case like I said it's basically 2 families feuding.
Tammy stood her ground and played it tough but maybe too tough to the point that Eugene Palmer just basically got fed up with that.

I respectuflly get your point. I just feel like just saying "family feud" doesn't tell the whole story when it seems one family (The Palmers) that were largely at fault. I don't believe the husband when he says he never got physical and I don't believe the brothers that Eugene never even had a handgun. Eugene just seemed to be an overly tempermental 70-plus year old manchild.

I don't believe the husband when he says he never got physical and I don't believe the brothers that Eugene never even had a handgun. Eugene just seemed to be an overly tempermental 70-plus year old manchild. I'll phrase it this way Tammy was the outsider, she was the unwanted one there on the property, she needed to stand her ground which I respect and think its courageous of her to stand up to the Palmers. Now I call B.S. as well about how Tammy's husband said he never got physical because they are on national television, they aren't gonna look good saying stuff like that, there will be people giving the Palmers and Tammy's Husband backlash for those actions if they were to have said exactly they did. Now Eugene having a handgun, of course he's going to have one, especially when his home was out in the woods, off the grid, being an avid hunter without a doubt raises the possibility he had multiple weapons. Not to make things lighthearted here, but he has that stereotypical angry grandpa type of personality.

At least according to the zap2it.com guide, The Hunt will not air on July 17th due to Republican National Convention coverage.
I assume the same will be for July 24th since that is the Democratic National Convention week.
This probably explains why The Hunt started earlier than usual this summer. (And why they were stuck with game 7 of the NBA Finals one week and July 4th weekend on another one)
Barring any riots at either convention, The Hunt should return on July 31st.

That was a very well done episode. Starting with Elby Hars's profile, everything featured looked like it needed to be in the episode and it really made you hate Elby Hars. I agree with the consensus that I feel sorry for Terri because of her child sexual abuse, but not for assisting Elby in sexually abusing Tracie, that's where she deserved her 10-year prison sentence.
As for Eugene Palmer's case, even though I sorta feel he's dead and therefore I wasn't looking as forward to his profile, it was still done rather well.

For some reason the Twitter post won't show up here but Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson posted on Twitter he was watching the Hunt last night and was a big fan.

Well there will be a special on DB Cooper on Sunday at 9 in the History Channel, the same time The Hunt is on so it'll be interesting which one people will pick.

Admittedly I might DVR that but the thing is that show will do better in the ratings but that has nothing to do with The Hunt.
Cable news networks tend to have lower ratings on the weekends compared to broadcast channels and "regular" basic cable channels like A&E, History, etc...
So when CNN finally started adding original programming like Parts Unknown, The Hunt etc... it increased their ratings significantly. They're not on the level of a TBS or TNT show but NO ONE used to watch CNN on Sundays. Now they have some viewership thanks to original programming.
You can't really compare a CNN show to a History channel show. An original History channel will probably do better than anything on CNN on a Sunday, be it The Hunt, Parts Unknown, etc... But for cable news ratings, The Hunt has done incredibly well.

Apparently it's a 2 part episode, one on July 10th and the other on July 11th. Also I agree CNN doesn't compare to the likes of those networks, but thanks to original programming they have pretty good ratings which comes from many shows but I'd say more from The Hunt (I'll also note that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a fan) since it is ONE of CNN's success stories. However I hope they find something of substance with regards to DB Cooper, just like when they did the Alcatraz escape documentary, it showed they pretty much got somewhere when it came to the photograph in Brazil and the testimony behind it. But bring on Robert Fisher and the Dimitrions since they are long overdue, especially Fisher with the amount he's been on the run he makes a an overdue book look like nothing lol.

TVNewser keeps claiming HLN aired Forensic Files when they actually showed The Hunt on Sunday night (I DVR'd on HLN to make sure this was the case). Sucks since if the numbers are correct, The Hunt had over a million viewers if you combine the CNN and HLN ratings, but tvnewser doesn't reflect that. I've e-mailed them hoping they fix it: www.adweek.com/tvnewser/scoreboard-sunday-july-3/297858
