And this past year was the 30-year anniversary of one of the most horrific murders ever shown on AMW. 9-year old Sharin' Morningstar Kennan was last seen alive on the afternoon of January 23rd, 1983. She was told to be home by 4 PM. She vanished, and after a massive 9-day search her body was found stuffed in the refrigerator of a house Dennis Melvin Howe was renting. Here is a bit more from a news article about Howe himself vanishing for decades afterwards: Howe was last seen in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. the day after Sharin’ disappeared, getting a bus transfer to Winnipeg. Through the years, as leads disappeared, Howe was like a ghost — sighted here and there but never really there in the flesh. Police put out a bulletin, advising dentists to contact them if Howe, who had bad teeth and used Orajel frequently to dull the pain, came looking for help. . In 1999, a tip led to a Sudbury cemetery, where police believed that the name on the grave, Peter Sanderson, was really Howe. They dug up the grave to get samples for DNA testing, but results showed it wasn’t Howe. Howe had family out west, and there are unanswered questions about what they knew. Howe’s half brother, Eugene Nelson, was alleged to have given Howe money to come to Toronto when Howe fled three days after he was released on mandatory supervision from prison in Prince Albert, Sask., on Feb. 17, 1982. And there are about a dozen mysterious trips that Eugene made to Montana and Washington State after the murder. When questioned about those trips by former Regina police detective Rod Buckingham, Eugene stopped going to the U.S. and took any answers he had to the grave in 2004. So the question is, where is Howe now if he's still alive? www.thestar.com/news/crime/2012/09/27/mystery_surrounds_torontos_most_wanted_fugitive_dennis_melvyn_howe.htmlUPDATE: As of July 26th, 2018, Howe is still listed on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) website as one of their most wanted fugitives: www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/wanted/dennis-melvin-howeAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Dennis Howe had severely decaying teeth, so my personal feeling is he may have eventually died of natural causes unless he was ever able to finally see a dentist. There is a guy who worked at an art gallery in Boise, Idaho that is mass posting all over the web claiming a conspiracy theory. That he himself reported Howe to AMW back in 1999 and he soon was off the website without any acknowledgement of what happened to him and that he was told to leave when he came back soon after his sighting. (It seems his conspiracy is whatever people came to arrest Howe took him out instead and kept it quiet) www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5qgmCZpY6cHis claims are also on the message board below under the username vanringo: www.unsolvedcanada.ca/index.php?topic=399.15I would never accuse my favorite show of conspiracy but are other parties involved in one? Or is this a case of mistaken identity? This man posts all over the place and is rather adamant the man in question was Howe. Howe would be 72-years of age if still alive. P.S. My apologies. I know Derek you're from Canada, and Czar, Howe is on your personal dirty dozen, and wanted to wait for one of you guys to post about him. But I just felt this case was too important to wait any longer.

It's cool, I'm not a huge expert on this case, so I always expected someone else to post Howe.
On a sad note, I remember that one of the officers who found the girl's body later committed suicide. The other officer claims they always blamed themselves for not being quick enough to find her.
I think the police shouldn't have tipped their hand to Howe's half brother regarding those trips. Conducting surveillance would've been more effective.

Conducting surveillance would've been more effective. So many people were affected by this tragic case. The detective who found Sharin's body quit two weeks later and Sharin's parents were eventually divorced. It frustrates me that this guy not only committed this horrific crime but destroyed so many lives as well and we still don't know what happened to him. I agree surveillance would have been more effective.

Personally, I believe Howe is dead. He was a heavy smoker, so he probably succummed to lung cancer by now. If he's still alive, well, Canada's a big country. My guess is he could be hiding in some small town, or maybe even Alaska.

Don't worry, I'm not angry in any way that someone else brought up Canada's Most Wanted fugitive. I recently talked to Pakman88 about this case when he uploaded Howe's Final Justice profile (privately to Youtube) and the two of us wondered if AMW had anything to do with bringing up those tips about Howe's half-brother.
I highly doubt there's this conspiracy theory regarding Howe, I can't figure out any reason as to why Howe would warrant a conspiracy theory anyway. By now I suspect Howe is dead for the health reasons that you two brought up.

I know "dead" is a go-to option whenever we discuss cold case fugitives, but I really think he is a lot more likely than others we've dicussed to be deceased.

I've been trying to stop going to the "they're dead" option when it comes to cold case fugitives who are getting up there in age, especially since Bulger was captured. However, if they have health problems, or are known to be involved with unhealthy activities, it's pretty reasonable to assume they're no longer alive.

So what do you guys think about this Boise art gallery guy's claims? He's been posting all over the internet.

I'm not a big conspiracy guy, so I take all those theories with a grain of salt. Also, Howe was last profiled back in 2000 I think

I'm not a big conspiracy guy, so I take all those theories with a grain of salt. Also, Howe was last profiled back in 2000 I think I don't know this man to call him a liar. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, deserved or undeserved, and just assume he has "good intentions" but is mistaken until proven otherwise.

I just realized I never saw Derek's post about not believing in a conspiracy either. Once again I agree, and will just assume the art gallery guy has good intentions but it isn't Howe since I have no proof to accuse him otherwise.
P.S Nice to know Pakman still exists!

Been following the case involving Dennis Melvyn Howe for several years, the sketch I don't believe portrays him accurately, for anybody who cares to look it up there's a story of a man that went missing from Ptarmigan Lake Lodge in Alaska under really bizarre circumstances, check out the Alaska State Troopers missing poster of a man who used the name John Melvin Wipert do a split screen of this photo next tto the computer generated pic of Dennis Melvyn Howe and. Also check it next to photo of Howe when he was younger see what you think! There really was or is a real person named John Wipert has some jail history, could Howe be using his identity? also why does the poster say blue eyes when the man on the poster has dark brown eyes and don't give me that well, sometimes photos do that. The story was from 2009 he's obviously long gone but we may have a picture!

Hey js thanks for joining the forum! Unfortunately, the picture didn't work so perhaps you can just link to the story with the picture.
In just one night, we've received really interesting info on cold cases Robert Fisher and Dennis Melvin Howe!
