Today also marks for the 63rd anniversary of the FBI's Most Wanted List.
As for the addition, needless to say this may come as a surprise since he is a name not many of us have probably have heard of. However, I sort of expected a surprise because none of the "AMW-famous" potential FBI top tenners really stood out to me and I usually make predictions but decided to not make a prediction for Saenz's replacement since it seemed this addition would be difficult to predict.
I like that he's from Colorado as the rocky mountain region is not represented on the list yet.
Although I am apprehensive they say he's from and likely in El Salvador and we've already had so many fugitives likely hiding out in international countries where they'll be extremely difficult to catch on the list. I have not heard of a high profile capture in El Salvador yet. Both Chuy Canales and Berny Figueroa, believed to possibly be there are still at large. And not to mention, it seems the Salvadorian government could not care less about AMW fugitive Henry Menjivar, who is pretty much confirmed to be there.
However, despite my initial "oh no, not another fugitive hiding out in a difficult to extradite country on the list" reaction, I'd say his crime is brutal enough and along with his MS-13 connections that he earned his placement. Now AMW just needs to come back on so they can make him AMW on Lifetime's first ever FBI Top 10 capture!

Still unclear on the age of the victim. ABC News says 63 but Rivera Gracias' official FBI poster says 69.

I'm not optimistic that he'll be captured quickly. Alexis Flores is pretty much confirmed to have been hiding out in Honduras ever since he was added (2007) and no capture. I guess the biggest hope is that a fellow MS-13 member turns in Gracias for the $100,000 reward, although wouldn't that mean retailation for said MS-13 member?

Yeah I dunno maybe they're going the Saenz route thinking someone will turn him in. As I said, I think he's bad enough to be on the list, but I dunno. I'd call this a "good" pick and I'm not going to protest it, but it's not the best pick because of that aspect. I give it like a 7 out of 10. I'm also assuming Rivera Gracias' girlfriend's accusations of molestation against the victim are unfounded. Not that I approve of him dying in the manner he did or being killed if it wasn't self-defense, but I take it there are a lot more sympathetic victims out there if the accusations were true. The law should never be taken into someone's own hands, but it's hard for me to feel sorry for the guy, no matter how brutal the crime, if he was what she claimed she was. It doesn't give Gracias a right to do what he did, but it would tick me off if the FBI values a murder victim that was a child molestor over Yaser Said's daughters. I hope this is similar to the DJ Friend case in that the victim was attacked for false claims. This pick really came out of nowhere didn't it?

One thing I do like though besides Colorado being in a region not really represented is that at least he is a recent fugitive since his alleged crime was committed in 2011. So in that aspect it was a smart move since they've added a bit too many cold cases lately.

Not a bad choice, I've definately seen worse. And the fact that this crime was more recent gives me hope that he'll be captured easier than the others.

I'm assuming that the girlfriend's accusations are unfounded. Most sexual abuse victims don't have gang members brutally kill their alleged victimizer. I admit, I had never heard of this fugitive before he was added. It makes sense, considering he's replacing gang member Jose Luis "Smiley" Saenz. If Gracias was a member of some local Colorado street gang, then he wouldn't have been added. This is the FBI's message that they take the MS-13 gang very seriously as a threat.

You seem to know a lot of non-AMW fugitives so that surprises me. But yeah, I think hardly ANYONE had ever heard of him. This is an out of nowhere pick. But a decent one.

That only proves that American authorities are willing to find foreign fugitives in their country. This still gives no indictation that El Salvador will be willing to locate Gracias.

I'm talking in the long view of things where NEITHER the Us or other country has much of a history of extraditing fugitives to the other. Take Cuba for example. In other words, we have a better chance of El Salvador giving us Rivera Gracias than we do of Cuba giving us Victor Gerena.

Crazy how Rivera Gracias and Keana Barnes were both added to their respective most wanted lists the same day and both got caught in just a little over a week! Also, in retrospect, excellent decision by the FBI in adding Edwin Rivera Gracias to their top 10 list!
