This Monday should be an interesting test if Kenneth DeHart (wanted for shooting and killing a Sheriff’s Deputy) is still at large. OG AMW would have definitely made him a breaking news alert as the show was never truly live but still close to the date as possible. John and Cal I believe tape one week before AMW and then film In Pursuit on the weekends though so I’m not sure if they’ll have time to air him this week (would be a moot point if he’s caught anyway- but the reason so many breaking news fugitives are caught so quickly is because of a show like AMW and media publicity). If they do have time to air him, we can see if this version of AMW can possibly have the same ability in solving breaking news cases quickly.

One thing I wanted to also mention is even when AMW was originally on Fox it would go through one month capture droughts and then a barrage of captures at once so this isn’t unprecedented but unfortunate timing that it coincides with John’s return (and Cal’s debut) as AMW host. It is ironic we have the opposite problem of 2021- captures but bad ratings- now we have good ratings but no captures. But just once again trying to interject some hope into our anxious wait lol.

I hope we get some captures soon so they won't cancel the show again but we need to be patient

I hope we get some captures soon so they won't cancel the show again but we need to be patient They wouldn’t cancel the show again if they didn’t get any captures this season. It’s doing good ratings wise it would just be considered a ratings success just unfortunate no one was captured. In Pursuit went a season with basically no captures too and was still brought back. Once again it’s only been a month. It just seems not as easy to capture fugitives off tv anymore (or just tv rather) but we will get there.

Also today is the 36 year anniversary of John Walsh’s first ever capture (David James Roberts) so maybe the stars just wanted to align for the anniversary to pass. Sorry if my eternal optimism annoys people- if you want me to make you all depressed we all die one day- but it is still a gift to have been given life. Ok hopefully that balanced everything out.

I wonder if tonight they'll feature Kenneth DeHart as a breaking news fugitive I discussed this earlier in the thread that is the elephant in the room as AMW tapes like a week ahead of time- so we will have no idea if they were able to fit it in until tonight

In case I have not mentioned this enough in this thread, I need to say that the overall quality of the episodes and the case selection is an improvement over Season 26. I have been negative on some specific issues with this season, but I want to make sure that I give credit where credit is due. I overall do enjoy watching this season because I feel there is a honest effort to make a difference and fight back against crime. I just have to be realistic and realize this is no longer the “one capture per episode era”. We are now in the “profile cases and hope we get a direct capture era”. I am factoring The Hunt and In Pursuit in this. I will be fair and I can not fully judge this season of AMW until all six episodes have aired. They do have the potential to be more impactful then The Hunt/In Pursuit. EDIT: Wanted to give AMW Season 27 the proper credit in that the overall show quality is an improvement from The Hunt and In Pursuit.

Should also mention that if we get a direct capture this season I will stop complaining.

Once again I feel we all need to be patient, we were spoiled by a barrage of captures every week (or at least it felt like that) on OG AMW. Those days are gone but these shows are still effective. Of course I prefer two captures per week, but having to wait for our first one this year will make it so much sweeter when it finally happens. It seems the review so far is we are all besides wanting some tweaks here and there- we are all enjoying the show (I hate to use the word enjoy for such terrible crimes committed but maybe appreciate?) it’s just we are worried that it may not be as effective as it used to be in capturing fugitives. I’d say the show is in good hands now and we will get there- just be patient and it will eventually pay off

If we get one or two direct captures out of this season, we should consider that a victory and a job well done.

The show so far is a ratings success- just not a capture success. (So far)
I get even if they had as many viewers as the Super Bowl who cares if there’s no captures to show for it but once again it has actually been a relatively short amount of time- it’s just we remember the days where we got 2 captures a week so it is affecting our collective anxiousness. It really hasn’t been that long waiting for a capture, it just *feels* that long.
