OK, I see they did update Kayla Unbehaun being recovered on the ID crimefeed page for In Pursuit, so that's some positive news, however the Facebook page and group is still silent. Well They were busy on other things offline focus Season 5 of In Pursuit, They will updated their Facebook pages soon.

I hope that is it, other Jupiter true crime shows are unaffected but who knows. It could depend on if the show uses union actors or what affiliations or whatever who knows. The most innocent explanation for lack of news is writer's strike but we shall see.

Alright, I called Jupiter entertainment, granted it was just a representative, who perhaps was not the most in the know, but she told me as far as she knew, the show has not been canceled and they've just been slow in starting up again. She also told me the writer's strike has nothing to do with the show.
Perhaps I'm worrying for no reason, it's just usually they get to work on the new season much earlier in the year lol.

In Pursuit finally updated their FB so I feel slightly more relieved now. Still haven't updated their missing and wanted group in nearly two months tho.

I'm seeing a lot of complaints on Reddit that the ID channel has went somewhat downhill, where there haven't been new season of many shows in years, and "new episodes" are just repackaged old episodes of shows. Granted I don't have the same opinion because I don't watch ID enough to have it, but perhaps the issue isn't that In Pursuit isn't coming back, but that there isn't a rush to bring it back like in the past, like we'll see new episodes next year or something. I do think this is cable overall though, as sports is the only thing really keeping cable channels afloat as people go to streaming services. (The only reason I have a cable substitute service is for sports and my local channels I can't get an antenna to work as well). Perhaps it's Max/Discovery Plus, but I think there does need to be a streaming companion for In Pursuit. www.reddit.com/r/DiscoveryID/comments/13q5iak/what_the__has_happened_to_this_channel/

Well, Max/Discovery Plus has also been getting a ton of bad publicity lately - removing shows that people liked, lumping all their directors/editors/producers into a generic "creators" listing on the streaming app, deciding not to air movies that are done and ready to be put on the service. I actually think it's not cable that's causing the issue, but streaming. I watch ID and I've noticed that all their so-called Discovery+ "exclusive" documentaries have all aired on the network.
Movie reviewer Dan Murrell has an excellent summary in this video:

I'm annoyed with Max even though I get it for free with my provider because it's not saving shows on my Watchlist.
I was halfway through a Sopranos episode (I'm 20 years late on all popular shows) and it didn't save it when I paused and closed the app to go do something.
I also had to find Curb Your Enthusiasm on my own even though it was on my Watchlist on the old HBO Max app.
And yes it is a cluttery mess at the moment.
Perhaps it's not cable but apparently ID has been doing things like mixing up half hours of one hour episodes (for example if they showed two half hour fugitives from old episodess of In Pursuit and showed them as new).
It's getting to a point even though they don't want to look like vagabonds that JW and company may want to look for their fifth network or streaming service, perhaps Oxygen.
ID even at its heyday was a niche audience of true crime fans who are *usually* not criminals themselves, so I do think direct capture odds are perhaps better on a more broad channel of outreach.
I hope this doesn't sound insulting but you kinda need a network that everyone has access to and "trashy" people also watch, since these are criminals on the run.
In defense of ID, it's not their fault more and more people are cutting the cord. I'm a sense, it is streaming and focus on streaming causing all these issues with all true crime cable shows, not just In Pursuit.

I spoke to my source at In Pursuit. There's bad news and good news. The good news is the show is likely to be renewed. The bad news is the budget has been slashed and there will likely only be six episodes in Season 5 as opposed to twelve. Howeve at least the show isn't canceled, and this seems to be happening to all the ID channel shows (or any show that isn't the HBO/Succession type lineup of Max).
I think this is a good starting point at least to work ourselves in with the crowded and confusing new landscape of regular/cable TV combined with streaming.

Although I haven't received clarification, just like the writers strike, I don't believe the actors strike should affect In Pursuit since they've traditionally used non-union actors.

Just wanted to mention we may have to wait until 2024 until the new season of In Pursuit. However, I don't take this news that hard since I feel all we're really doing is going back to the original schedule (beginning of year/sometime in Spring) anyway.
