Fugitive Profile as of December 18th, 2014 (Based on AMW archive, Heartland Crime Stoppers Profile): Sex: Male Race: White Date of Birth: 2/10/1978 Height: 5'9" Weight: 145 - 165 lbs. Hair (Color, Description, Facial Hair): Brown, May have a goatee Eyes: Brown Scars and Tattoos: Scar on abdomen Last Seen: Frostproof, Florida Other Possible Locations: Andrews is believed to have originally fled to Mexico. He has spent time in Ohio (AMW lists Cincinatti specifically. He was reportedly recently sighted at his mother's house in Frostproof, Florida. Other possible locations include Honolulu, San Francisco, and Pensacola, Florida. Prior Convictions: D.U.I. (3 convictions) Who to call if you've seen him: Heartland Crime Stoppers 1-800-226-TIPSFla. Cops: Serial Drunk Driver Kills Couple Near HomeA Saturday afternoon turned tragic for a Florida couple driving home from the local shopping mall. Danny and Patricia McCown had just purchased a birthday gift for their 3-year-old granddaughter when their lives were cut short. Authorities tell AMW that Brian Dale Andrews -- a three-time D.U.I. offender -- was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 27 in Frostproof, Fla. on June 30, 2007 when he lost control of his vehicle, smashing into the McCowns' car head-on. The mother of two and father of four -- both 59 years old -- were killed instantly while cops say Andrews made a cowardly, drunken attempt to flee the scene, injured from the accident and collapsing in the roadway. Instead of attending an upcoming family reunion, the devastated McCown family was now planning the funeral of two beloved grandparents who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time -- and less than a mile from their home. “My parents were a very fun-loving couple who everyone enjoyed being around. Their love for each other, the love for their kids and grandkids really radiated,” said their daughter, a major in the Air Force. Over The Limit, And Under ArrestAuthorities say Andrews was inebriated at the time of the crash, and his Blood Alcohol Content was off the charts: 0.315, almost four times the legal limit. This level of intoxication would kill the average casual drinker -- but cops say Andrews is no stranger to the bottle. In just four years, Andrew had been convicted three times of driving under the influence. Authorities say Danny and Patricia would become victims of his deadly driving. Not only was Andrews obliterated behind the wheel, police report that his driver’s license had been revoked by South Carolina and Florida because of his many run-ins with police. After the fatal accident, he was immediately booked into a local jail following a short stay in the hospital, but bonded out within days -- and hasn’t been seen since. Accused Killer Drunk Driver Still At LargeAuthorities say they desperately need your help in locating Andrews, who they say callously took the lives of two respected members of the community. The Florida Highway Patrol has made Andrews one of their “Most Wanted Fugitives” for his record of driving dangerously drunk, and they say anyone could be his next victim. Andrews was last seen in central Florida, but cops think he could be in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. He stands 5’9” tall, and weighs around 150 lbs., and has black hair and brown eyes. He may also have a goatee. The above was the AMW archived profile for Brian Andrews, who was aired on the September 19th, 2009 episode of America's Most Wanted on Fox. Obviously it's hard not to think of The Hunt's Chris Ponce and the eerie similarities. Both Florida cases. Both guys with multiple DUI infractions. Both released on bond despite killing people as a result of their drunk actions. Both are probably getting help from their parents, with Andrews we have proof. The mother and Mexico update wasn't in any AMW archived I could find but was on his Crime Stoppers page. (Heck, Ponce could have fled to Mexico too.) I feel like Andrews is a very underrated case that considering his danger on the road should have more publicity. The good news I think he's catchable, especially since there seems to have been some updates on leads over the years. web.archive.org/web/20100419211712/http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=64927#profilewww.heartlandcrimestoppers.com/wanteds.aspx?SID=25471UPDATE: Andrews still has a warrant in relation to this case as of 7/21/2018, according to Florida's public access wanted persons website search: pas.fdle.state.fl.us/pas/restricted/PAS/person/WantedPersons.jsfAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Yet another DUI fugitive who in theory shouldn't be too hard to locate yet he's been on the run for seven years. What I want to know is how could he have fled to Mexico yet apparently be spotted recently at his mother's house. It sounds like the Mexico theory may have just been a ruse to throw investigators off his trail.

Maybe the Crime Stoppers "recently" is from years ago and they haven't updated in a while. Most of the leads discussed actually aren't from the AMW profile.

I just read an old post and remembered that today, Half Year's Eve, is the 8th anniversary of the car wreck that Brian Dale Andrews is wanted for. Since the autumn of '011, when John Walsh named him his 50/50 fugitive for Florida, I've realized how badly Walsh wants Andrews caught. I would hope that, by now, detectives would have some new leads on him.

As of today, October 30, 2020, Brian Andrews still has a listed warrant in the Florida Statewide Warrants Database.
Very frustrated by the lack of updates and results from this manhunt.

In theory, this doesn't seem that hard a fugitive to find, which makes me wonder if Andrews fled overseas or indeed did go to Honolulu which is technically a state but very far away from Florida.
Then again, we've also seen forum-exclusive fugitive Eric John Riters stay on the run for a decade and a half despite being sighted still in Florida so who knows.

I'm glad to see justice will finally be done here. As to your other point, the problem is a lot of vehicular homicide/DUI Manslaughter fugitives aren't from the U.S. so it makes harder to find them. And even when you can find them like in the case of AMW fugitive Roman Saldarriaga, many countries don't view DUI deaths as a criminal offense so they won't extradite. Won't be the case here thankfully but still a shame it is with others.

Won't be the case here thankfully but still a shame it is with others. And by astonishing coincidence, the other '011 50/50 Fugitive #FL, Kenneth Andrew Craig, was busted a decade ago that day. By the autumn of '011, Dale was the one AMW producers kept going back to when drafting that last 50/50 list, so this is big news. And while it won't eradicate Florida's drunken car wreck manslaughter endemic overnight, it rekindles hope that more families will get justice. But I just can't believe that, under so many foreign countries' laws, car wreck manslaughter is never a criminal offence.

Sad to say but the attitude that existed in the U.S. for a long time (sad to say in some cases it still does) that it's a mistake or simply a bad choice and not a crime. We don't use that logic with guns, shouldn't be any different here.

I honestly feel that these are among the most likely types of alleged killers to re-offend again. Also it doesn't matter to the families of the victims whether their loved one's homicide was premediated or a result of reckless behaviour, the end result is the same regardless. Yes I recognize that the charges of homicide and manslaughter are different under the legal system, but I still believe more needs to be done about these cases.

Unbelievable. I feel so bad for the McCown family for being given false hope. Why this Ernest McBride guy pretended to be Brian Andrews is something I cannot understand.

Unbelievable. I feel so bad for the McCown family for being given false hope. Why this Ernest McBride guy pretended to be Brian Andrews is something I cannot understand. I don't get it either but I also don't get why police rushed to tout the arrest before they had 100% confirmation that it was him. Not a good look for them at all, especially given the needless pain they caused the McCown family here.
