The money find is the most perplexing part of the case to me. Some of the bills were missing, it is possible the money wasn't there the whole time and arrived at a later date, yet multiple bags showed up in the same location. I can see why some believe the money to have been strategically placed.

I do know that lead investigators on the Bishop case seriously doubt all three "confirmed" sightings in Europe. I think his extra-marital affairs hold the key to his escape plan.

Thanks, great to be here. The Harrell info is definitely legitimate, but perhaps he feels he really did see Bishop and then got intoxicated with all the attention from the FBI, Unsolved Mysteries, etc and started making things up to stay in the limelight?
The supposed sighting in DC recently by that author seems just bizarre. Nothing in that incident really confirms that it was Bishop he saw. Could have just been an old guy who was angry that someone was looking him up and down.

I believe that Brad Bishop stayed in the USA, or went to Europe briefly, assumed a new identity, and has kept a low-profile ever since. There is evidence he was planning his crime for a long time and had a get-away plan, so the chances he shot himself in the North Carolina forest seem slim, unless he suddenly came to a realisation after he committed the crime.
The sightings in Europe in my opinion are either mistaken, or in the case of Roy Harrell, bogus. The FBI used an old-trick on Harrell by asking him to recall details of a fictitious person's connection to Brad Bishop. Harrell said he would need to check his notes. On his next meeting with police, Harrell conveyed a story about this fictitious person. His lying and attention-seeking behaviour makes him non-credible in my view. The two other sightings seem too much of a coincidence and not really all that confirmed. What are the chances three friends of Bishop would separately run into him in Europe over such a long period of time?
Bishop may have been skilled with languages and other cultures, but it is almost impossible to pass off as a local if you stay anywhere long-term. I guess my only question is how well known is his story in Europe? Would your average Italian or Croatian recognize him and know his story or would they just think he was an American immigrant?
