On a happy note, Nick Dirkson's widow gave birth to his son months after his death.
I really have no idea how Peter Kema's mother can arrange a plea deal and serve little to no time for Peter's murder, after having abused, tortured and neglected him starting with when he was only a few months old and continuing to his death. It truly is sickening. Thankfully, Peter's death was heavily publicized in Hawaii, so I can imagine she's not a popular person there -- or anywhere for that matter.

Okay, the rest of that Vancouver episode was on another disc, with the rest of the cases being American ones. Here's the remainder of that episode: Phokam Kedmenivong - Member of Oriental Posse in Midavle, UT is wanted for the murder of a young man named Nick Dirkson. Nick had just learned he was going to be a father again when Phokam and his posse came in to the restaurant Nick and his wife were working at to continue an argument after Nick accused them of stealing his car cd player. Phokam shot him in the face and killed him. Felicia Elliott - Sad case about a girl from Dalton, AR who is missing. Her 7 year old brother Gregory was found bludgeoned to death in their home, her mother found murdered on a neighbor's porch, and her father found murdered in a nearby river. (Felicia's remains were found in 2000. In 2003, father and son Billy and Charles Green were found guilty and convicted. The motive was a drug deal gone bad.) Peter Kema - Another sad one. Boy who went missing from Hawaii. Rather famous Charley Project case. Recently, both of his parents have pleaded guilty to manslaughter and his father has been convicted and sentenced to 20 years. Peter has never been located. www.charleyproject.org/cases/k/kema_peter.html -- (*WARNING: Extremely disturbing) Kirby Peterson - Quickie profile of Kentucky inmate who has escaped from prison. Segment on FTRA: Freight Train Riders of America, who illegally hop trains and commit a wide range of crimes, including murder. Not really a wanted segment, but Robert Silvera (who has confessed to ten murders and suspected of many more) is profiled.

Oh jeez, that's awful. I remember seeing this on shows such as Disappeared and Vanished with Beth Holloway.
It's sad because a lot of the cases on the early seasons of Disappeared contained various theories such as voluntary disappearance, (In Kopetsky's case, they showed video footage of her cutting class that day, suggesting she may have left voluntarily), but a lot of them have turned up dead and likely murdered.

Half of episode from late February, 1998, from San Francisco, CA
Tony Amati - Wanted for the murders of 3 random victims and the attempted killing of another. Also wanted for his part in the burglary of a gun shop in which 70 guns were stolen. The former straight-A student was then-recently added to the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List. (Captured within days of broadcast)
Alabama abortion clinic bombing - The infamous Eric Rudolph is suspected of this crime in which a police officer was killed and a nurse severely wounded.
JonBenet Ramsey - John Walsh runs down the latest in the case, which is fairly common knowledge by this point. Walsh mentions the case may be close to getting solved (nope, sorry, still unsolved after more than 20 years now). (partial segment, rest of episode not present).
Only a few segments there, but it ran about 23 minutes, so that's roughly half the episode. I'm fairly certain the JonBenet segment ran on for a good long while as they mentioned that forensic experts were doing DNA testing on it later in the broadcast.

It was later discovered that the slashed tires on Vermette's car (his motive for the killings) were NOT caused by his victims. Not sure how that factors in, if it does, but wanted to point that out.

I misspelled the first fugitive in yesterday's post, it is actually Stephen Toussaint. I edited the original post.

partial episode, special Canada's Most Wanted edition, from Vancouver, British Columbia, 1998 episode, exact date unknown
Stephen Toussaint - Worked in an embalming department in a morgue in Ontario and is wanted for killing his coworker Bob Ivins and attempting to kill his superior. Toussant was a virtual non-entity in the department, rarely showing up for work and coming to work drunk when did. He is also suspected in the arson of a church.
Kevin Vermette - Canada's Most Wanted Fugitive, wanted in the triple murders of three young men, a fourth was left with serious injuries.
Dudley Forbes - Stabbed his ex-girlfriend 13 times and attack was stopped only when a neighbor came by. He later attempted to kill her again in a nightclub shooting that left 2 dead and 7 injured. He was born in Jamaica and may be hiding out there.
Patrick Adkins - Is wanted for rapes in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. He has raped many women and attempted several more.

1998 episode (exact date unknown)
Captured: Tom Curtis - Seemingly personable high school student body president committed 19 armed robberies with Ethan Thrower in Portland (doesn't specify Portland, OR or Portland, ME, but I'm assuming Oregon). Showed up at senior class trip in Mexico and all of his classmates refused to turn him in. Thrower was put out of commission after accidentally shooting himself in the testicle (!!). Curtis was arrested in Las Vegas.
Captured: Jamie Hawkins - Turned himself in after quickie profile (possibly from previous week). He and his girlfriend severely beat and neglected her two year old daughter, eventually beating her to death. Girlfriend had previously been arrested and placed on one million dollar bond (the highest ever for that particular county). John Walsh says there's no punishment too severe for Hawkins (I agree).
Public Enemy #1: Eddie Mathis - Wanted for killing two adults and placing young child in closet for 14 hours while murders were carried out. Has violent history and is a gun fanatic. Once robbed bank and nearby White Castle while bank's alarm was going off. Once narrowly escaped capture. He is also a crossdresser and is on the U.S. Marshalls 15 Most Wanted list.
Juan Jimenez - Last remaining member of trio who robbed and killed Bob Rooney during a home invasion in Glastonbury, CT in 1991 is wanted.
Unknown National Monument thief - Searching for whoever is responsible for stealing part of a National Monument in Montana. This occurred on federal land, so it is a federal crime.
Julie Holmquist - Minnesota teenager has disappeared. (It was later discovered she was sexually assaulted and murdered. Curtiss Cedergren killed himself as the authorities were closing in on him.)

1998 episode with unknown date, joined in progress, from Monterey, CA
Eugene Linder - I believe this is a longer segment with more info than the one I mentioned previously, though it's joined in progress. Linder is wanted for murdering his significant other.
Christina Williams - Again, I believe this is a longer segment with more info that the one I mentioned previously. Girl from California who disappeared, Mariah Carey urges anybody with info to come forward.
Nathan Downs - Is wanted for shooting and killing a man outside a San Francisco nightclub.
Jamie Hawkins - Is wanted for beating a two year old child to death.
Lotto scam - 6 suspects whose identities are unknown are wanted for running a lotto scam.
John Walsh does a recap of the cases presented in this broadcast and I can tell, based on that, the first part of the show contained Romel White (again), plus these cases (which of course, are not present).
Christin Lamb - Wyoming girl disappeared. (Later discovered to have been raped and murdered by James Eric Peterson, who was sentenced to prison for life. He was the father of her friend and this happened right next to her grandparent's house).
Amy Bechtel - Another Wyoming disappearance and a pretty famous one, having been covered on Unsolved Mysteries and Disappeared. Woman who went jogging vanished and has not been heard from again. Her husband Steve is considered a suspect, as is Dale Wayne Eaton (who as it turned out, murdered another person featured on Unsolved Mysteries -- Lisa Kimmell).
*Special note: Wyoming is the least populated of the 50 states, but nonetheless, has been home to some of the most baffling disappearances over the years, such as Bechtel, Bradyn Fuksa, the Uden Family and David Lovely. www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/bechtel_amy.html

Thanks pakman.
Man, this Linda Lebrane case is just blowing my mind right now. I was up way later than usual last night and decided to review some AMW while winding down and getting ready for bed. And then I saw that segment (which was really hard to watch) and it just jolted me.
Researching the case, it is just insane. I really feel bad for Linda and what she went through, however I am near-certain that she misidentified Sarah Pearce and that would be a miscarriage of justice.
Consider all of the following:
1) Linda described the female attacker as Hispanic. Sarah Pearce is white. 2) Linda initially picked two other women out of photo lineups (that were not Sarah Pearce). Both of those women were proven NOT to be involved. It was only after that, that Linda picked Sarah Pearce out of a lineup 3) At some point during the attack, Linda's glasses were removed, and she states she is nearly blind without them, and she couldn't remember when during the attack that happened. Thus, under these circumstances, and if it happened early enough, it would be difficult for Linda to appropriately describe the female attacker (especially when there were 3 other assailants and it was dark out). 4) Linda described the female attacker as being either the same height or shorter than her. In fact, Sarah Pearce is nearly a half a foot taller than Linda. 5) Linda smoked several marijuana cigarettes shortly before the attack and some believe this may have impaired her judgment. 6) Linda stated the female attacker was "very pretty". Beauty is subjective of course, and not to get too offensive, but Sarah Pearce would not fit very many people's definition of pretty. 7) While it's not impossible that the female attacker could have been white, it seems unlikely given that all of the other assailants are Hispanic. It should also be noted that while the 3 men have all implicated each other of involvement, none of them have said Sarah Pearce was involved and one flat-out said she was not involved (had she been, he could have used that as leverage to get a reduced sentence, especially since Linda described the female attacker as the "ringleader") 8) The forensic artist who drew the composite sketch of the female attacker strongly believed that Linda was too angry at the female attacker to accurately describe her.
I might have more on this later (and maybe we should move this to a separate thread).
Also, I did want to point out that the October 14, 2000 & November 4, 2000 episodes were consecutive -- AMW was not on the air October 21 or October 28 due to post-season baseball.

There's all sorts of goings-on with the Linda Lebrane case. It was on Dateline a few years ago in an episode I wish I had. I have to do more research, but at first blush, Sarah Pearce does seem innocent. Lebrane identified the woman assailant as Hispanic, Pearce is white.

Whoa Nellie!
November 4, 2000 (629 fugitives caught to date), from Tacoma, WA (partial episode)
Linda Lebrane - Woman driving from Washington State to Idaho on the expressway in the middle of the night was horrifically attacked, nearly killed, robbed and had her car torched by 4 unknown assailants. 2 teenagers carried her to safety before her car exploded.
Chi-Ali Griffith - Recording artist who had a top 10 rap hit is wanted for homicide.
Hien Tran - Girl in a family of 6 was killed when their house was firebombed repeatedly early one morning. Trung Pham and My Hang (male and female) were apprehended, still searching for the last suspect Tu Truong (male).
Dang, wish I had more of this episode also, some explosive cases this week.

Gregory Murphy has continuously been declared mentally incompetent and therefore, has never faced trial in his murdering of Kevin Shifflett and has remained in mental institutions. Murphy has a very extensive history of criminal activity and drug usage and has served time for another unprovoked attack. Murphy, who is black, was discovered to have written about his intolerance for white people (specifically white children, of which Kevin was one) after having nearly burned down the hotel room he was staying in days before Kevin's murder. Murphy also physically attacked his lawyer.

Ugh! Ernest Jackson was found NOT GUILTY by a second jury after the first failed to reach a verdict. The Hell? Just another travesty in the American judicial system. He did serve a 7 year stint in prison in the 2000's for the abuse of another child. Thankfully, it looks like Kaia is still in prison.
