Kevin Vermette is wanted for a triple homicide that occured in 1997 in British Columbia.
At the gym where Vermette worked out, police say he approached Mark Teves regarding the music being played at the gym. Vermette allegedly used racial slurs referring to the music, and a feud began between him and Mark, as well as Mark's friends who also used the gym. They had several run-ins after that, and a month after the first conflict, another arguement ensued which resulted in Vermette assaulting Mark. In July 1997, someone slashed Vermette's tires. Vermette blamed the 4 men, and claimed he would kill them.
Later that day, Mark and his three friends stopped by a park on their way to a party. Mark and two of his friends were shot dead and the other friend was severely injured. Fishermen overheard the shots and discovered the four. Based on eyewitness testimony, police were able to charge Vermette with the murders, but despite a large search, he is still at large.
While he easily could've created a new identiy for himself, my belief is that he probably committed suicide in the woods near the crime scene. Search parties always miss remains, and if he walked on foot long enough, there's a good chance they never even came across his remains.
