From time to time, I will be listing in this thread dvd sets of true crime shows that I have created. These sets, which took years to construct, will be available from me through trading and whatnot (please PM me for more information).
The first set is the nearly complete run (missing just one episode) of the original run of Cold Case Files in the 2000's, hosted by Bill Kurtis, which recounts older crimes. This set contains 31 dvds, with 4 episodes per disc, for a total of 124 episodes. There are literally hundreds of segments here. I have not done a complete episode guide for this particular set, however I will list some of the more memorable cases below. The only episode I am missing is the "Innocence Files", so if anyone has that, please contact me. This also does not contain any of the new episodes from the short-lived reboot, which was widely panned by fans and suffered from apparent low ratings. This set does contain several extremely rare episodes, including one that was yanked from syndication, and one that is not on any of the episode guides.
Stories include:
The Original Night Stalker - The infamous case of a California predator who broke into homes at night while the victims were sleeping and raped many women, eventually escalating to murder. One of the few stories that takes up the whole hour and one of the few unsolved cases ever to be profiled on the show.
Mommy's Rules - In Sacramento, California, Theresa Knorr subjects her six children to horrific abuse, with her middle daughter Suesan receiving the harshest treatment.
Murder Illustrated - Bizarre story about a Colorado teen who finds a dead woman on his lawn while walking to the bus stop and eventually gets convicted of her murder based on some drawings he made. (His conviction would later get thrown out -- thankfully). The real killer has yet to be found. Has not aired on television in many years and will never be aired on t.v. again.
Fire Flicks - A creepy California arsonist videotapes his crimes.
The Missing Hunters - The 1985 disappearance of two hunters from Michigan, who apparently met a gruesome and horrifying death.
Vintage Murder - Dawn Maygar disappears from a shopping trip in Chesaning, MI in 1973 and later turns up murdered, having also been raped. The case goes cold, but several unbelievable chance encounters over the years work together to find her killer.
The Paper Route - An older woman from South Carolina is murdered in the middle of the night after dropping off newspapers at a convenience store. (A coworker of mine used to date her granddaughter).
Traces Of Murder - Captivating story about an immigrant who was murdered in New York City in 1985 at his factory job with the killer's motive unknown. An unbelievable clue breaks the case.
Lil' Miss - Lisa Marie Kimmel is murdered one night in Wyoming, while en route from Colorado to Montana to visit her boyfriend. Her mother Sheila doggedly pursues justice until the killer is found, having buried her car.
The Bob Crane Murder - Actor Bob Crane is murdered with a tripod (still technically unsolved).
The Tortured Truth - A young man in Wisconsin kidnaps boys and breaks their legs.
The Hitmakers - Country music charter Kevin Hughes is gunned down in Nashville.

So, there's a new Oxygen series on this case entitled "The Disappearance Of Maura Murray". The case has already been profiled on Disappeared, 20/20 and had an entire book written about it, not to mention the various podcasts (at least one devoted a minimum of 40 episodes to it), endless internet speculation and so on and so forth.
Apparently, this wasn't quite enough for a woman by the name of Maggie Freleng (who this woman is, I have no idea), but she bills herself as an "investigative journalist" and decided that the case needed her input (it really doesn't). It's difficult to take Maggie seriously considering her body is riddled with hideous tattoos, not a very professional look at all.
The debut episode of this 6-part miniseries has Maggie frequently putting internet commenters on BLAST for their audacity to...you know....exercise the First Amendment, while at the same time, not being able to disprove a single one of those comments. Maggie herself is nothing more than a glorified internet sleuth considering she does not work for law enforcement or anything related to that.
More things from Maggie made me just want to throw things at the television. She claims a personal connection to this case because she went to the same college as Maura (UMASS, which Maggie wrongfully claims Maura transferred to. She didn't transfer, she was expelled from West Point for stealing). She didn't know Maura personally mind you, but because, uh, they went to the same college, she feels a "personal connection." Maggie also claims this miniseries is about all the missing women out there (I guess she doesn't care about missing men? missing boys? Nope, no mention of any of those people at all.)
Now, articles are popping up that Maggie "revealed" that Maura disappeared the same week Facebook launched. First of all, this is not true. James Renner made that revelation some time ago on his blog. It was not "discovered" by Maggie. Secondly, who cares? It's a trivial at best aspect of this case that means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Maggie sat down for an interview with the controversial Fred Murray. Fred can best be described as an ass, a liar, a pervert and a man who constantly puts up smokescreens to keep people from the truth. Virtually everyone warns Maggie about what a jerk he is, but she comes away with the impression that he's neat. As for the interview, Fred did his usual of misleading people about what a great person Maura is (Maura is/was a pathological liar and thief who was kicked out of a college for stealing and committed identity theft after that, a drunk, a person who crashed and totaled 2 cars in 3 days (including her father's brand new car), and other things I won't get into), before cutting the interview short and stating that he "Can't talk about Maura". Keep in mind this man did not give a formal interview for the first 5 and a half years after Maura went missing and when he finally did, he brought his attorney.
Anyways, there are a lot more aspects to this case that I won't get into because it could take forever, but to me it's apparent Maura voluntarily disappeared to escape all of the problems she created (she had a history of running away) and law enforcement believes she voluntarily disappeared as well.
As for this miniseries, it's just some nobody's attempt to cash in on a subject that's been done to death. There's no point in tuning in when the case has been thoroughly covered elsewhere and better.
Recommendation to avoid.

I'm looking for any episodes of Missing: Reward (1989-1992) hosted by Stacy Keach (current host of American Greed). All I have is what little has surfaced on youtube over the years (I'm not usually big on youtube rips, but this series is so rare). I have the Michael Adams, Amy Mihaljevik and Vosseler children segments, a full episode, and a few other random segments. I have an *extremely large* library of things to trade.
Also looking for Case Closed (1993-1994), another Stacy Keach hosted true crime show.

In regards to people talking about Scott Peterson being responsible for Kristin Smart's disappearance, I think there's an unfortunate tendency for some websleuthies to try and match up high-profile cases, whenever they occur, when no such match exists. I think most people would agree that Scott killed the pregnant Laci and Paul Flores killed Kristin Smart. Another glaring example is the theory that Susan Powell & Steven Koecher (two rather famous missing people cases from 2009 in Utah) had run off together, when there's zero evidence to suggest such and there's really little doubt that Susan was killed by her creep husband.
It really pains me how some people (and I'm not talking about people on here, but other forums) can constantly disregard all of the facts and push some really whacked-out theories that are based on little more than conjecture and things that are over-exaggerated. It's almost like there's a contest to see who can come up with the most far-out theory and I'm not even sure the people saying them really believe them, but they mention them just because they are trying to make the cases more mysterious than they really are and they adopt this "Hey, look at my wild theory, aren't I creative?" mentality.
Unfortunately, the opposite can also be true as others get too hung up on "Occam's Razor" and always think the simplest answer is the right one, when often times it is not. I think some people tend to forget that criminals are desperate people that will go to absolutely absurd lengths to get what they want. Look at what happened in the Jacob Wetterling cases (that poor kid). For years, their neighbor Dan Rassier was the subject of wild speculation and accusations. The police searched his house numerous times, manhandled his elderly parents, and took things they have yet to return. People on Websleuths had all but convicted him. All because he had the unfortunate distinction of living right next to the Wetterlings and because police for years were on the (wrong) assumption that the perp didn't have a car (he did). In fact, Rassier had noticed a suspicious car on his property that day and attempted to alert the police, and was constantly ignored by them. And he is/was a schoolteacher for decades who was widely respected and never had a complaint lodged against him. And when it turned out NOT to be Rassier, the same people offered up a quick apology and then attempted to get those threads not just locked, but completely removed from the internet because they were so embarrassed by what they wrote.
But I digress. Sorry for the rant. The people on this board have been outstanding.

Don Richard Davis was also on Unsolved Mysteries. The name didn't ring a bell and I used to refer to the segment as the "Texas A & M Rapist", since his attacks occurred on the campus. A thing about this case was that his father also spent some time behind bars for aiding and abetting.

No, I was wrong, it's Kristin Smart. How odd that two of the most famous ones share a last name. Fixing it now. Though Elizabeth was a child when she went missing.

I was just telling HeadMarshal that Callahan Walsh has been doing some of the PSA's on the Justice Network, specifically ones on missing children.
Also, I noticed that John Walsh seems to still be appearing in CNN promo's when they do a rapid-fire montage of their anchors and such, saying "This....is CNN". Not sure if they still consider John part of *their* team (as The Hunt is now exclusively on sister station HLN), or if they're lazy or haven't noticed or what. I guess John probably still gets airtime on CNN whenever there's a big case that needs his input, but that doesn't seem to be too common nowadays now that the Orange Freak has become his own 24 hour news cycle and continues to suck up all the energy in the room.

1998 episode (not sure, but I think this episode immediately followed the one I did just previous, or pretty close
Markeith Braxton - Is wanted for his part in the murder of a Los Angeles pawn shop worker named Igor during a botched robbery attempt.
"Tie Robber" - Nickname given to bank robber who wears a necktie and dress shirt or suit during robberies. He has robbed many banks all across the U.S., but mainly Florida. He has not attempted to disguise his identity much and surveillance cameras have captured his image many times, but he remains unidentified.
Captured: Glen Horner - Criminal has been captured.
Daniel Fling - another airing
Public Enemy #1: Eddie Mathis - another airing, lasting three minutes.
Chris Trickle - Race car driver was shot while driving in Las Vegas, suspect and motive unknown. His car drifted off the road and crashed into a billboard. He survived for many months afterward, but eventually succumbed to his injuries. New witness has come forward with some potentially valuable information, but authorities are seeking other witnesses.
Selim "Jake" Kelmendi - Insane story about a guy who sexually harassed and physically assaulted numerous coworkers, even raping one and threatening the life (and that of her unborn child) of another. Also beat a store clerk for seemingly no reason. He was apprehended, but a stupid judge gave him "political refugee status" and was released.
Vincent Douglas - Quickie profile of man wanted for murdering his ex-girlfriend.
Tammy Meier & Chelsea Gragg - Mother and daughter went missing from Phoenix, AZ, last seen at a dentist's office. Vehicle later found abandoned 10 miles away. (Remains of both were discovered in the desert that October, suspect and motives unknown and the case is still unsolved, 20 years later).
