Luis Galindo is wanted by the San Diego Cold Case Homicide Team for the murder of his girlfriend.
On Mar 15, 1997, Galindo, his pregnant girlfriend Carmen Estrada and their friends had met up at a restaurant. Galindo and Estrada then got into an argument because Galindo wanted to go drinking in Tijuana with a friend. The two walked outside, then Galindo grabbed her by the neck and dragged her into an alley. According to a witness, Galindo whispered something into her ear, and then shot her in the head. Galindo fled but before she and her unborn child died, Estrada said that Galindo was the one who shot her.
Here's where this case gets really irritating though. According to a 2008 article, Galindo was arrested in his native Honduras for an unrelated murder. The issue is that Honduras is prohibited by law for extraditing their own citizens. However, according to a 2013 article, it's only mentioned that he may have possibly fled to Honduras.
Thoughts? Even if Galindo is still in Honduran custody, I'm still posting a thread about him because he's still wanted in San Diego, plus Honduras generally doesn't sentence murderers to life imprisonment, the common sentence ranges from 15-40 years. So if Galindo is in custody over there then he can serve his sentence and technically walk out of prison a free man. If he isn't in custody then I imagine he's still hiding out in Honduras, which means he'll probably never be brought to justice if he stays there.
